Firmware upgrade guide Generic AW Preparation notice: Upgrading the firmware of your tablet may enhance the performance and functionality of your tablet. Incorrect followup of the steps described in this manual may cause irreversible damage to your tablet. Backup all your information before continuing and thoroughly read the instructions before taking action. Make sure you have downloaded the correct firmware by matching it with the item number on the back of the tablet. 1
- Backup any personal data on the tablet - Ensure that the battery is fully charged and you have the AC adapter plugged in - Be sure to shut down and save your in background running processes. - Temporary disable the antivirus program on your PC before updating your tablet. - Unpack your downloaded update file. - USB A male > Micro USB B male cable is required - Connect the charger to the tablet and USB cable to the PC and tablet. Introduction: In this Firmware upgrade instruction the following steps will be explained: 1: Software Update Tool and Driver installation: A step by step procedure how to install the Software update tool (PhoenixSuit) and the drivers required for updating your tablet, including steps to load the firmware into PhoenixSuit. 2: Update procedure 1 => Use this procedure if your tablet is not working properly and if you are not able to access the android system. 3: Update procedure 2 =>Use this procedure if your tablet is fully functional and you would like to benefit from the fixes and improvements of our latest firmware. 2
1. Software Update Tool and Driver installation: Go to the location where you have downloaded and unpacked the update files and double click the PhoenixSuitPacket installer to start the installation. Press the Next (N) button 3 times. A new window will popup to set up the drivers installation, press Next >. 3

If the Windows Security window pops up, press Install this driver software anyway. Press Finish. The Windows Security window will pop up another time, press Install this driver software anyway again. 5
Press Close(C) to finalize the installation. Double click on the shortcut which is created on your desktop. PhoenixSuit will now check if you have the latest version installed. Press Close after the check has finished. 6
To load the firmware => 1. Press the Firmware button => 2. Press the Image button to browse the location where you have unpacked the firmware update folder. Browse into the Firmware folder, select the firmware and press Open. You have now finished the preparations for updating your tablet. 7
2: Update procedure 1 => Use this procedure if your tablet is not working properly or if you are not able to access the tablet. If you have a functional tablet proceed to Update procedure 2 on page 9 Note: During the update, the screen will remain black!! => If the tablet starts up => shutdown the tablet by holding down the power button for 10 seconds and repeat the steps below. Troubleshooting: -If you do not have a Volume button on your tablet you can use the other button instead (example return button) -If you cannot find the developer options on your tablet go to About tablet => look up the the Build number => and tap on the build number 5+ times to unlock this option. Simultaneously press the power button and Volume + button on the tablet for a few seconds. + => + 5x-10x Hold Hold Hold Press 5x-10x quickly While keeping the Volume + button pressed, release the Power button and press the Power button 5-10 times quickly. After the 5th time you will hear a sound in Windows. You can now release all buttons. If the procedure is done correctly, Windows will install the drivers automatically. Be patient and let Windows finalize the driver installation. After driver installation, PhoenixSuit will show the following message: Press Yes to choose the format upgrade mode. This will do a clean install of your tablet, removing all files before installation. (Alternatively you can press No, which will leave your personal files intact and overwrites the system files 8
only, but since your tablet is not working properly, it s recommended to use the Yes option. If you have updated by pressing the No button and your tablet is still not working properly, repeat the update procedure and select the Yes option). CAUTION: DO NOT interrupt the update process!! Interrupting the update process may cause irreversible damaged to your tablet!! 9
By pressing either button, PhoenixSuit will start to update your tablet. After the upgrade is successful, press OK. You may close PhoenixSuit by pressing the Close button in the top right corner. Your tablet is now starting up and finalizing the upgrade process. You may disconnect the USB cable from the tablet but keep the power connected to the tablet until the tablet is fully started up and displaying the language selection setting. Note: Starting up the tablet for the first time after a firmware upgrade may take longer than usual. Please be patient and do not interrupt this process as this can lead to irreversible damage to your tablet!! 10
3: Update procedure 2 => Use this procedure if you have a functional tablet. After you have followed the steps outlined on page 1-6 and loaded the firmware, press the Home button. On the tablet go to Settings/Developer options and enable USB debugging. The following window will appear, press OK : 11
You will hear a sound in Windows that it has found a device and is installing the drivers. After the drivers are installed you will see the information of your tablet in PhoenixSuit: Now press the Firmware button followed by the Upgrade button. 12
A message will pop up to confirm the update. Press Yes. After you have pressed the Yes button, the tablet will reboot itself into the update mode. Be patient and let windows finalize the driver installation. After driver installation PhoenixSuit will show the following message: Press Yes to choose the format upgrade mode. This will do a clean install of your tablet, removing all files before installation. (Alternatively you can press No, which will leave your personal files intact and overwrites the system files only. However, choosing the format upgrade mode is recommended because it reduces the risk of old files interfering with new ones. If you have updated by pressing the No button and your tablet is still not working properly, repeat the update procedure and select the Yes option). CAUTION: DO NOT interrupt the update process!!
