Introduction Welcome to Cloudistics Ignite! Please follow the instructions in this guide to setup and configure your Ignite infrastructure. IMPORTANT: Before you start the setup and configuration steps in this guide, please complete all steps before plugging in power for the compute and storage chassis in the Ignite Hardware Installation Guide. Step 1: Configure Ignite Uplink Network To begin, you will need to configure the external IP address of the Ignite SDN router to ensure your Ignite infrastructure can communicate with the public Internet to access the Ignite management portal. Additionally, you will need the netmask, gateway, and DNS server IPs for the external port of the Ignite SDN router. 1.1 Console into each Ignite SDN Router Use a serial DB-9 to Ethernet RJ-45 console cable if your computer has a serial port. Alternatively, you can use a USB to serial RJ-45 adapter to connect the IOIOI port on the router to your computer. Depending on the OS of your computer, follow the corresponding steps below. Windows OS Use the following settings on Putty and select Open to connect to the Ignite SDN router console. You can find the COM port corresponding to your serial cable in the Windows Device Manager. Linux OS Look at dmesg output to find the USB device corresponding to your serial cable. At the command prompt, run: screen /dev/ttyusb0 115200,-crtsdts Copyright 2016 Cloudistics, Inc. Page 5 of 31

1.2 Configure the IP address(es) of Ignite SDN Router(s) At the command prompt, log in using the following credentials. User ID: manager Password: cloudistics Note: This is a temporary password that you will reset during SDN router hardware registration in step 3 of this guide. At the command prompt, run: sudo cldtx_set_wan_ip -i <wan_ip> -m <wan_netmask> -g <wan_gw> -n <dns nameserver> For example, if your SDN router s external IP is 10.0.16.1, netmask is 255.255.248.0, WAN gateway is 10.0.17.101, and DNS nameserver is 8.8.8.8, the command will be: sudo cldtx_set_wan_ip -i 10.0.17.101 -m 255.255.248.0 -g 10.0.16.1 -n 8.8.8.8 Copyright 2016 Cloudistics, Inc. Step 2: Create an Account 2.1 Specify organization and administrator user account information Using a web browser, navigate to the Ignite Management Portal at https://manage.cloudistics.com/. Copyright 2016 Cloudistics, Inc. Page 7 of 31

Enter your organization name. An organization represents the total physical infrastructure, potentially spanning multiple geographic sites. Create an administrator user account. Select three security questions for your administrator account and enter your answers. Copyright 2016 Cloudistics, Inc. Page 8 of 31

2.2 Verify your email address. You will receive a verification email from Cloudistics to the address you provided. You will have 48 hours to verify your account creation. When you click the verification link, you will be directed to the second step of our two-factor authentication process. Copyright 2016 Cloudistics, Inc. Page 9 of 31

2.3 Verify your phone number by clicking on Send code You will receive a security code on your mobile phone. Enter the provided security code, then click Authenticate. Your account is now created. You can access the Ignite management portal at: https://manage.cloudistics.com/login. Note: You can modify your administrator user account information at any time by clicking User Profile in the top right menu bar. You can create additional administrator user accounts by navigating to the Settings > Site Settings page. Copyright 2016 Cloudistics, Inc. Page 10 of 31

Step 3: Register Hardware An Ignite Private Cloud includes the following types of hardware. Ignite SDN router: handles all networking functions. Ignite node: a discrete compute resource (CPU + memory) housed in a compute chassis. Compute nodes are aggregated into a liquid pool of resources called migration zones. Ignite storage block: a storage asset with disk bays and redundant controllers housed in a storage chassis. Storage blocks are aggregated into a liquid pool of resources called storage pools. To register your hardware, click Infrastructure > Hardware in the side menu. 3.1 Detect hardware by entering the serial number of the Ignite SDN router You can find this serial number in the email you received from your Cloudistics sales representative or you can find it on the white sticker on the top rear of the router. 3.2 Register the first Ignite SDN router (You will see IP addresses that were configured in Step 1 here.) Provide a unique name for the SDN router. This will be used to identify this resource everywhere on the Ignite management portal. Enter a password for the manager account on the SDN router. Note: Manager account passwords are used to locally access hardware resources. These hardware passwords are not stored on Cloudistics servers. Specify the IP range, netmask, and gateway for your Ignite physical network. You will need a unique IP range for each SDN router. Contact your networking administrator for information about router IP and network settings. Register SDN router. It may take a few minutes to configure the SDN router with the settings you have entered. Copyright 2016 Cloudistics, Inc. Page 12 of 31

3.3 Register redundant SDN router (optional) To register a redundant SDN router, select Add router for HA pairing option from the action menu of the SDN router you registered in the previous step. Enter a password for the manager account on the SDN router. Note: Manager account passwords are used to locally access hardware resources. 3.4 Configure Your Edge Router For Ignite networking to work successfully, your edge router must be configured to recognize the IP addresses you specified for the SDN router in the previous step. Ensure that your edge router has a rule to route all traffic coming to the IP range you specified to the SDN router s IP address (that you specified in Step 1). IMPORTANT: Before you proceed further, please complete the remaining steps (plug in power for compute and storage chassis and power them on) in the Ignite Hardware Installation Guide. 3.5 Register compute and storage assets All compute and storage hardware assets connected to the SDN router are displayed and are ready for registration. Click Register for each compute node. Click Register for each storage block. Copyright 2016 Cloudistics, Inc. Page 15 of 31

3.6 Register compute node(s) Provide a unique name for the compute node. Enter a password for the manager account on the compute node. Specify a compute category A compute category is a descriptor of nodes. Each node must belong to exactly one compute category. If you do not intend to create multiple compute categories, we recommend using the provided Default category for all nodes. Specify compute tags (optional) Compute tags are additional metadata that can be applied to nodes. While each node must belong to exactly one category, a node may have any number of tags. Cloudistics uses tags to match application resource constraints and available nodes. An application instance with compute tag constraints can only run on nodes that have all those compute tags. Assign node to a migration zone. In Ignite, compute resources (nodes) are organized into migration zones. A node must be added to a migration zone for it to host application instances. Migration zones act as boundaries around a set of nodes. Applications can migrate among nodes within a migration zone, but cannot migrate to nodes outside of the migration zone. To create a migration zone, select New migration zone from the drop-down menu. Provide a name for the migration zone and click Add Migration Zone. Click Register Node to complete registration. 3.7 Register storage block(s) Provide a unique name for the storage block. Enter a password for the manager account on the storage block. Assign storage block to a storage pool. In Ignite, storage resources (storage blocks) are organized into storage pools. A storage block must be added to a storage pool for it to store application instances. To create a storage pool, select New storage pool from the drop-down menu. Provide a name for the storage pool and click Create. Click Register Storage Block to complete registration. Step 4. Create Virtual Datacenters To create a virtual datacenter, click Infrastructure > Allocations in the side menu. You can see all available resources by migration zone, compute category, and storage pool in the Resources Summary section. Click Create a virtual datacenter to create your first virtual datacenter. 4.1 Create a virtual datacenter A virtual datacenter (VDC) is a logical grouping of compute and storage resources allocated from one or more migration zones and one or more storage pools, usually to a business unit in an organization. Applications are deployed in virtual datacenters. Provide a unique name for the virtual datacenter. Allocate resources to the virtual datacenter. A virtual datacenter must have both compute and storage allocations before it can be used to deploy application instances. Allocate compute resources from one or more compute categories within the desired migration zone. Next, allocate storage resources from the desired storage pool. When you are ready, click Create Virtual Datacenter. Your Ignite Private Cloud is now ready to deploy applications. Step 5: Virtual Networking Cloudistics offers the following types of virtual networks: Private virtual network: Private virtual networks are recommended for most users. Private virtual networks can be used across multiple virtual datacenters. The IP addresses in private virtual networks must be unique within your organization. Public virtual networks: Public virtual networks can be used across multiple virtual datacenters. The IP addresses in a public virtual network must be unique across the entire Internet. This guide contains instructions for creating a private virtual network. To create virtual networks, click Networking > Virtual Networks in the side menu. Click Create a private virtual network. 5.1 Create Private Virtual Network Provide a unique name for the private virtual network. Specify the range of IP addresses for this virtual network. Note: The IP addresses provided must not overlap any IP addresses currently in use within your infrastructure. Contact your network administrator if you need assistance. Cloudistics manages the virtual network s DHCP settings via an autodeployed application instance called network function virtualization (NFV). There is one NFV instance per virtual network, with the auto-generated name [virtual_network_name] - Network Services Application. Select the location where the NFV instance will run. Advanced settings are optional. When ready, click Create Private Virtual Network It may take a few minutes for the virtual network to be created and configured. Copyright 2016 Cloudistics, Inc. 5.2 Configure Your Edge Router For virtual networking to work successfully, your edge router must be configured to recognize the IP addresses in each virtual network. Ensure that your edge router has a rule to route all traffic coming to each virtual network s IP range to the SDN router s IP address. Step 6: Deploy Applications Cloudistics offers several ways to create application instances: Create from Template: Use a pre-defined template to quickly deploy new application instances. These instances function as thin-provisioned clones that share a common base image, reducing storage usage across a virtual datacenter. Create from Installer: Use an ISO file to create a new application instance. Import from VMDK or VHD/VHDx: Import a VMDK or VHD/VHDx file as a template and use the template to create a new application instance. This guide contains instructions to create an application instance both from a template and from an imported VMDK or VHD/VHDx file. Note: Cloudistics ships select templates with every Ignite solution. You can use one of those templates to create a new application instance or download more templates from the Cloudistics Application Marketplace by clicking on Applications > Marketplace. Step 6.1 Create an Instance from a Template 6.1.1 Click Applications > Templates to view a list of your application templates Select a template to instantiate and click New Instance. Copyright 2016 Cloudistics, Inc. Page 25 of 31

6.1.2 Provide Instance details Enter a unique name for the application instance. Select the virtual datacenter where the application instance will run. The virtual datacenter selection determines the migration zone and storage pool resources available for the application instance. Select the storage pool on which this application instance should be stored. Select the migration zone in which this application instance should run. Select the network mode. If you created a virtual network in step 5, you can select it by using the virtual networking option. Else you can select from bridged or node-only options. When ready, click Create Instance. 6.2 Create an Instance by Importing a VMDK or VHD/VHDx File 6.2.1 Click Applications > Templates Select the Import VM option. Copyright 2016 Cloudistics, Inc. Page 27 of 31

6.2.2 Cloudistics Template Properties Provide a name for the new application template, then click Select Virtual Disk Files. Provide a name for the new application template. Click Select Virtual Disk Files and complete Step 6.2.3 Click Save as Application Template. Once the application template is created, you will be able to view it in your list of templates at Applications > Templates. 6.2.3 Specify import location Specify the details of the shared storage location where the VMDK or VHD/VHDx files are stored. In the popup window, select NFS or CIFS and provide the required information to connect to the external store, then click Connect. A list of files at this location will be displayed. You can create multiple administrators for your infrastructure by clicking on the Site Settings tab in the menu bar and selecting +Add admin user option. You may also want to review your notification options to enable or disable toast, email, and SMS notifications for events across your infrastructure.
