Air-Cooled Condensers/Air-Cooled Fluid Coolers 09LD/GD 09GD 09LD/GD Nominal cooling capacity 281-987 kw The 09LD air-cooled condensers are designed for refrigeration plants where a halogenated hydrocarbon, such as R-22, R-502 etc. is used as the refrigerant. The 09GD fluid coolers are designed for cooling water or any fluid that does not corrode copper. The only difference from the 09LD condensers is in the physical data. The low-speed, low-noise versions of both unit types are particularly suited to sensitive applications, for example hospitals and offices. Standard models Heat exchanger The heat exchanger is the efficient Carrier F5 finned coil made of copper tubes and aluminium fins. Fin spacing is 2.5 mm. The fin collars cover the entire outside surface of the tubes. The close tube spacing and the specially corrugated fins make the heat exchanger extremely efficient. The fins are compact, without dirt accumulating cut edge turbulators. Headers are made of copper or of painted steel. Standard tube connections are made of copper, for larger sizes they are also available in steel. Headers are provided with plugged nipples for venting. If required, the heat exchanger can be divided into several circuits. Fans The direct-drive axial fans are statically and dynamically balanced. The low sound level has been achieved through the combination of high efficiency, aerodynamic construction, adequate vibration damping and low fan speeds. The motors are totally enclosed, squirrel-cage motors, built to IEC-standards for outdoor use. Protection class IP54, except for the condensation drains. The motors are prewired to lockable safety switches (IP55) on the end plates of the condensers. Locks are not included. Casing All parts are made of stainless or corrosion-protected material. The casing, legs, fan brackets, bolts and lifting eyes are made of hot-dip galvanized steel. The fan guards are made of plastic-coated steel. Please contact Carrier for further information. Accessories Safety switches (Option Q) Safety switches are installed adjacent to the fans. Spray system (option N ) The condensers can be equipped with a water spray system (option N), which considerably increases the condensing capacity during periods of high ambients. Junction boxes (alternative) The fan safety switches can be replaced by junction boxes, protection class IP55. Condenser selection The notes on the next page can be used to determine the capacity for a temperature difference other than the nominal 15 K. Capacity control Partitions are provided between the fans for effective control of the head pressure by fan cycling. In standard models the partitions are mounted transversely and are equipped with service doors. Optional equipment Heat exchanger n For conditions requiring special corrosion protection the coil can be surface-treated, or special materials can be used: - chromated fins - fins of epoxy- or vinyl-coated aluminium (condenser capacity reduced by 7% compared with standard model) - copper fins - tinned copper fins - tinned copper tubes and fins (only in sizes 12-18) - 3.0 or 4.0 mm fin spacing is available to special order. 2
