Creating your eportfolio and Networks Epsilen Access is restricted to those with Epsilen accounts (must be logged in). Institution Access is restricted to members of your institution (must be logged in). Public Information is viewable via a public URL. Access Keys Before you get started creating your eportfolio, you ll need to understand Access Keys. Access Keys define who can view information in your eportfolio. The three default access codes are explained on the left. You may also add new Access Keys to allow certain groups of people access to information. Click on Add New Access Key. Enter the Access Key s name and key code and click add. You may now assign the new Access Key to different information in your eportfolio. The information will only be viewable when the access key is entered. You may also edit the key by clicking on the pencil icon or delete the Access Key by clicking on the trash can icon.

. Interests Adding your interests is one step toward creating social and professional networks. Your interests will display in your corner and also on your eportfolio (if that option is checked). You may add teaching, research, career, and academic interests (see tabs on the left). To display your interests in the eportfolio, click the check box. Save changes and continue through the tabs. Contact Info You may add your contact information by either filling in the fields or importing your contact information from Facebook. You will be able to edit the information prior to saving in Epsilen. To assign Access Keys for each field, click on Edit. Choose the access key you wish to assign to the information. The default is Public. These fields are not required. If you would like to hide your eportfolio from search engines (Google, for example), click the check box. You also have the option of using an email address as your login instead of the Epsilen generated login name. Check the box if you d like to use your primary email or type another email address to use as your login (must be an email address).

Welcome Notes Note: If you chose to have your interests displayed in the eportfolio, they will also be displayed in the Welcome Notes. Use Welcome Notes to add custom content to your eportfolio Home page. Welcome Notes will appear in the middle section of your Home page. To start, click on Add New Welcome Note. Use the text editor to add text, photos, and/or links to YouTube videos. Click on Show Title to display the title in the eportfolio. You may also choose to assign an Access Key to this content at the bottom of the page. Save. To add additional Welcome notes, repeat this process. Multiple items can be rearranged by left clicking on the note, holding and dragging to a different area. You may also manage Access Keys in this view by selecting a title and clicking Manage Access Keys. To edit a note click on the pencil icon. To delete, click on the trash can icon. Pictures/Videos You may upload pictures from your desktop, Google, Flickr, Facebook, or select from a variety of avatars. To upload from your desktop: Click on Upload New Picture. The image you choose will always appear by your name in Project Share, including your eportfolio.

Click on Add Picture and browse to the file on your desktop. Under Viewable By select the Access Keys to define the users able to view the image. Be sure to deselect Public if you do not want the image available to all visitors. Read the Picture Uploading Policy and click the check box to agree to the terms. Click on Upload. To use images from Google or Flickr, copy the image and save it to your computer. Then follow the steps above to upload the image to your eportfolio. To import images from Facebook, click on the Download from FaceBook link and follow the instructions to import pictures. Follow the same instructions for selecting Access Keys and uploading. If you prefer to use an Avatar, click on Select Avatar, browse through the choices and click on the thumbnail to choose. QuickLinks The QuickLinks tool allows you to create and manage a list of hyperlinks on your eportfolio Web site Home page. Click on Add New QuickLinks.

Complete the form by adding a title, URL, and a description (optional). Under Viewable By select the Access Keys to define user access. Resume There are two ways to add a resume to your eportfolio. You may upload an existing file or use the resume template wizard. To upload an existing file, click on Upload New Resume. Enter a description of the resume. Click the radio button Upload new file and then Upload File and browse to your file. Choose the appropriate Access Key to define who will be able to view the resume. Click Save. Note: You will use this same process to upload files created using the resume template. Resume Wizard Template To use the Resume Wizard template feature, click on the hot link create in the resume window. Type the title of the resume and description (optional). At this point you have the option of typing in your resume or using the Resume Wizard. Click here to type in your Resume using a text editor. You will follow the same instructions for saving and uploading. Resume Wizard Click on the I want to use the Resume Wizard radio button. Click Continue.

Click on Add Contact Information. Fill in the required information and click 'Update'. Click Next to continue to the next category. To return to the list of categories, click Categories. Complete the resume objective (next category), if desired. Click Next. Complete your work history. To add more positions with the same employer, click on View More Positions. Click Save, and continue to add employment history, as needed. Click Next and continue adding your education. To add additional entries, click Save. When you have completed all categories, click on Categories. Click on Continue.

Choose a template (professional, elegant, contemporary) and edit, as necessary, using the text editor. Click Continue to save the template as a file to your document folder. Type the name of the file and choose an Access Key. Click Save to save to your Documents folder. To assign this template (or the resume you typed) to your eportfolio, click on Upload New Resume. Enter a description and select Select existing file. Click on the Select Existing button, click on the + sign next to the Documents folder to open the folder and select the file. Click Select. You may be prompted to confirm the Access Key. Click Save. The file will now be displayed as your resume. Showcase Use the Showcase tool to display examples of your work and accomplishments in multimedia format. As with other areas of the eportfolio, you may restrict access to Showcase items using the Access Keys. Click on Add New Showcase Complete the title and then upload according to the media type: Enter a web address Upload a picture (either existing or upload a new file) Upload a file (either existing or new file) Choose the Access Key and click Save. Repeat the process for additional showcase items. You may change the display order of the showcase items by clicking on a row and dragging.

Certifications Use the Certifications tool to display a list of certifications on your eportfolio Web site. Follow the same process as adding Showcase items. Choose this tab to hide your eportfolio from view. This will not cancel your account. Choose this tab to show or hide the QuickNote form on your eportfolio Home page. Publications Click on Add New Publications. Click on the pull down menu to identify the type of publication. Use the text editor to enter the information. Choose the appropriate Access Key and save. News Click on Add New News. Complete the information including adding posting and end dates. Click the box if you d like for the news to be displayed on your eportfolio. Use the text editor to add content. You can edit or delete news items in the previous screen. You can also change the order in which news items are displayed on your eportfolio by clicking and dragging. Blog The Blog tool allows you to create and manage your own personal blog, including an RSS feed. In this screen you can add, edit, copy and delete your blog entries. Click on Add New Entry. Enter a Blog title, your Blog entry and select an icon to represent this entry. You can also choose to hide this entry from public view and whether or not to allow comments. Click Save. Options Click on the first tab Menu/Tool Options. To customize the name or description of the tool on your eportfolio Website menu, select the pencil icon beside the name of the tool. Change the menu name by typing in the field. Click Save. From this screen you may also choose the tools you would like to appear as menu items on your eportfolio.

You may also add additional custom menu items. Click on the Custom Menu Items tab and then Add Custom Menu. Type the name of the custom menu item, choose a display icon, and use the text editor to add the content. Select the appropriate Access Key and save. Themes Use this tool to assign an interface design style or theme. You may choose a private interface theme and an eportfolio theme. Click Save. Preview eportfolio Use this option to preview your portfolio. You may also use the link at the top of the page. Anything you coded as Public will be viewable by the public using this direct URL. A note for Institution Admins: You may choose to address teacher eportfolios in district or campus policy. For example: What expectations, if any, does your district have regarding teacher eportfolios? What role will the eportfolio play at the campus level? Will you monitor the eportfolios? And, if so, how? Admins may activate and inactive eportfolio tools, as shown on the left. Admins may not inactivate eportfolios.
