USING ZOTERO STANDALONE VERSION
USING ZOTERO WITH MICROSOFT WORD
Zotero can be used with Microsoft Word and OpenOffice. This allow users to insert citation directly from their word processing software. You may find the link to install the plugin onto Zotero homepage : http://www.zotero.org (refer to next slide). After installation of the plugin you should see this row of icons in your Microsoft Word toolbar: These six buttons allow you to manage references and bibliographies in your Microsoft Word documents.
Click on this Add a plugin for Word or LibreOffice to install the plugin.
You may download based on the operating system of your computer (Example: Windows). And click Allow on the top of your browser page.
A popup will appear, requesting to install the plugin. Click Install Now. * You will need to restart your Firefox after completion of installation.
2 1 Next, in your Microsoft Word document click on Add-Ins tab. This will display the Zotero Plugin
Zotero Insert Citation: To insert citation / edit citation Zotero Insert Bibliography: To insert bibliography / edit bibliography Zotero Set Documents Preferences: To insert bibliography / edit bibliography
To add a reference: 1. Click on the Zotero Insert Citation icon. 2. Choose the bibliographic format you want to use and click on OK. (In this case American Psychological Association 6th edition).
1 The new Z box will appear. Click on the Classic View, and the Add/Edit Citation window will open. In the Add/Edit Citation window: 1. Highlight the citation you want as a reference. 2. (Optional) add a page number only if you are using direct quotations and copy (table, figures, diagram). 3. Click OK. 2
3 American Psychological Association (APA) 6th edition style references have been addedd to this account.
Your bibliography (in APA format) will be added automatically to the bottom of the document. To create a bibliography, click on the Zotero Insert Bibliography icon.
Citation Styles One of the basic feature of Zotero is its ability to automatically format citations and bibliographies. It comes with a selection of standard styles (such as APA, Harvard and Vancouver), but various more are availabe through the online Zotero Style Repository at: http://www.zotero.org/styles Visit the Zotero Style Repository and click the [Install] link next to the style you wish to install.
Zotero Citation Style Repository Click on the Install link next to the style you wish to install.
Using Zotero Standalone This is the option to download the Zotero Standalone 4.0 for Windows to your own computer hard drive. It can be sync together with Zotero Firefox cloud version, so that changes in one programme are automatically transferred to the other. * You will need to create Zotero account first before you can sync it together.
Next, go to www.zotero.org/user/register to register an account with Zotero.
2 Click on the Actions tab in the middle, then select the Preferences. 3 1 Next, open the Zotero Standalone version. For your computer, you may find it listed on the bottom taskbar.
In the Zotero Preferences, select the Sync tab and key in your registered Username and Password. Then click OK.
Click on the Sync with Zotero Server to sync the citations that you have save in Zotero Firefox Cloud. Once it is sync, your citation will appear in the middle column of your Zotero Standalone.
To add more items, once again in MulT-Search, select the items to be save and click OK.
In your Zotero Standalone version, refresh your list of items by clicking on Sync with Zotero Server. Your new item will be included in the middle column. * To insert your in-text citation and reference list / bibliography, follow the same steps for inserting citation and reference list using Zotero plugin in Microsoft Word

Zotero web account With Zotero web account, you can synchronize your library, participate in groups, or post to the support forums. The data synchronization transfers library items, notes, links, tags, etc., (except attachment files) between your local computer and the Zotero servers. This allows you to work with your data from any computer with the Zotero extension. To synchronize your data with the Zotero web server: Open Zotero's Sync preferences tab > Enter your login information in the Zotero Sync Server section.
You can use the Zotero Online Library Online (Webpage) to monitor items that has been save in your Zotero.
Zotero Groups Share your own work or sources you have discovered with others who are working in related areas. Collaborate with colleagues, publicly or privately, on ongoing research. Discover other people with similar interests and the sources they are citing.
