Overview This guide describes hw t use the VMware Hrizn Mirage Web Manager. The Mirage Web Manager mirrrs the Mirage Management Cnsle (MMC) and is intended eventually t replace it. The current versin is intended fr use by IT help-desk persnnel t assist them in respnding t service queries. It als prvides dashbard infrmatin t assist the Prtectin Manager rle. Installatin Ntes The Mirage Web Manager must be installed n a Windws server with IIS 7 r later and.net framewrk 4. It can be viewed using Chrme, Firefx, IE 9 and IE 10. Ckies and JavaScript must be enabled. Make sure that yur IE 9 brwser supprts JavaScript and Ckies n an intranet envirnment. Nte: By default, users have access t help-desk functinality - the device path is autmatically designated as *cmputer name+/*hrizn mirage+. T enable user access t prtectin manager functins frm the dashbard, set the brwser path t *cmputer name+/*hrizn mirage+/dashbard. In this case bth helpdesk and dashbard functinality are enabled fr that user. Lgging In Yu must lg in each time yu pen the applicatin. T lg in t the Mirage Web Manager: 1. Type yur user name (including dmain if required by yur cmpany) and passwrd. 2. (Optinal) Select the Remember Me checkbx t autmatically display the user name at lgin. 3. Click the Lgin buttn. 3

Perfrming a Quick Search After lgging in, the Select User and Device windw appears, where yu perfrm a quick search fr the devices that yu want. The quick search identifies devices that satisfy a search string invlving a Username r Device Name. Yu can then select the device immediately, r frm an expanded list in the Search Results windw - see Perfrming an Advanced Search n page 5. After selecting the required device, yu wrk with it in the Device Histry and Infrmatin windw - see Wrking with Device Infrmatin n page 6. T display devices and select a device: 1. In the Select User and Device windw Search text bx, type a character string that the user name r device yu want includes (at least tw characters, which can ccur anywhere in the name). A quick search list f up t fur user names and their crrespnding devices appears. If a user name is assciated with mre than ne device, all the devices are listed fr that user name. 2. If the user-device that yu want is in the quick search list, click its device link with the pinter. (Yu can als scrll t that line using the keybard Up/Dwn keys and press Enter.) 3. If the user-device yu want is nt in the list and yu want t see mre results: a. Fcus n the Search text bx and press Enter t display the list f all user r device names that match the search string (see Perfrming an Advanced Search n page 5). Tip: If yu press Dwn past the furth result in the list, the fcus cycles t the Search text bx. b. Lcate the name that yu want in the list and press Enter. Tip: If yu press Enter withut typing anything in the quick search Search text bx, the full list f all the users-devices in the system appears. 4. T perfrm a new quick search, click the Plus icn in the left-side panel. Yu can repeat the quick search prcess frm Step 1. 4

Perfrming an Advanced Search If yu did nt select a quick search result (see Perfrming a Quick Search n page 4) and asked fr mre results, the Search Results windw appears shwing the full results f the string search, r all usersdevices in the system if n string was specified. Yu wrk with a selected device in the Device Histry and Infrmatin windw (see Wrking with Device Infrmatin n page 6). Selecting a User-Device Yu select a user-device by clicking its device link in the Search Results windw list. OR Perfrm an Advanced Search Alternatively, yu can start a new advanced search, which searches simultaneusly within Username, Device Name, Device ID and CVD ID (rather than nly Username and Device Name in the Select User r Device windw quick search). This advanced search replaces any existing quick search results. Type the search string fr the advanced search in the text bx at the tp-right f the windw, in the same way as described fr a quick search. The results appear immediately. Nested Search In an advanced search, yu can specify a nested search based n tw search strings by separating the individual strings in the text bx with a space. Fr example: Typing as ti searches fr as r ti in usernames r device names. Typing *username+, space, *device name+, will identify a specific username-device name. Revisiting the Advanced Search Yu can revisit the Search Results windw at any time t perfrm a new Advanced search: 1. Click the Plus icn in the left-side panel. 2. In the Select User r Device windw (quick search), press Enter withut typing anything. 3. In the Search Results windw, enter yur new advanced search string. Srting the Search Results Yu can srt the search results by any clumn name by clicking the clumn header. When a srt is by User Name (default), devices are gruped in the list with their assciated users. Similarly, when the list is srted by Device, user names are gruped with their assciated device. 5

Wrking with Device Infrmatin The Device Histry and Infrmatin windw shws the histry f actins n selected devices. It cnsists f the fllwing: Left-side panel f Selected Device tabs, listing the devices selected by search peratins. Any number f devices can be searched-and-selected in a sessin. Right-side panel shwing infrmatin abut a device indicated by a Selected Device tab selectin. The device infrmatin is available in tw views: Grid View - see Grid View n page 7, r Timeline View - see Timeline View n page 9 Selected Device Tabs Each time a user-device is selected frm a quick search r advanced search, a Selected Device tab is created in the left-side panel t assist navigating between selected devices. Each Selected Device tab shws the user name and assciated device names. Multiple devices fr the same user are gruped in the same tab. The name f the device which is the current fcus (r the last fcus fr an inactive tab) is shwn in the tab under the user name. The names f ther assciated devices appear in tltips. Yu display the histry and infrmatin f a device by clicking its Selected Device tab r the device symbl within the tab if there are multiple devices. When selected, the tab backgrund becmes white and the device symbl becmes highlighted. Once a Selected Device tab is created by a search, it can be used t revisit that device s infrmatin at any time in the sessin. Selected Device tabs remain available until they are clsed (click the X in the tp-right f the tab). A Selected Device tab with a red triangle in the bttm-right f the tab is a reminder that a wizard prcess is nging n that device and that yu still need t either bring it t cmpletin r cancel it. Yu can clse the prcess in prgress by clicking the red triangle and clicking OK in the Wizard is Active. Clse? prmpt. Even while a preexisting prcess is incmplete, yu can still perfrm additinal actins n any devices, including the current device. Fr mre infrmatin abut actins, see Actins n the Selected Device n page 8. 6

Grid View The Grid View is selected by default and the actin histry fr a selected device appears in the windw bdy initially as a grid. This includes a line f infrmatin (Start and End Time, and Descriptin) abut each actin assciated with the device, in chrnlgical rder. The Type clumn shws the actin type (the filter that the actin is related t). The Grid View als lists all the snapsht versins currently/frmerly assciated with the device. Clicking a rw in the list shws additinal infrmatin abut that actin. Each actin type has its wn infrmatin set. (This is similar t the MMC where yu right-click a device and select Shw Histry.) Clicking Prperties at the bttm f the windw shws infrmatin abut the selected device under tab categries. Filtering the Grid View by Actin Type Yu can filter the actin lines displayed in the Grid View t include nly thse whse tlbar type icns are selected: - Steady State (incremental uplad) Data transfer frm device t server. - Snapsht CVD snapsht creatin. - Event - Imprtant system events prpagated frm the server and clients. - Audit Event User-initiated events. - Task Operatins, usually wizards-driven, that deply, manage, prtect, r supprt Mirage endpint devices. - Dwnlad Data transfer frm the server t device. See fuller descriptins f each actin in the Hrizn Mirage Administratr s Guide. By default all the filters are enabled (all actin types are visible in the view). Yu can exclude specific actin types by clicking their icns t disable them. These filters can be set in either the Grid View r the Timeline View and are autmatically applied in the ther view (see Filtering the Timeline View by Actin Type n page 10). The - Currently Running Tasks icn shws infrmatin abut tasks in prgress. Pint t the icn t shw the number f tasks that are currently running. Click the icn t display a drpdwn list f the running tasks. Click an entry in the list t highlight the task line in the Grid View. A prgress bar appears in its End Time clumn indicating the task status. In the Timeline view, yu see an actin bar clred in red (failed) r blue (running). Clicking n currently running tasks mves the timeline t display the actin.) 7

Filtering the Grid View by Free Text Yu can filter the displayed actins t include nly thse that cntain the specified text string in at least ne f the displayed Grid View fields. Click the Filter the Filter text bx. buttn, and enter the required free text string in This filter can be set in either the Grid View r the Timeline View and is applied autmatically in the ther view as either a search r a filter, accrding t the methdlgy described fr that view (see Searching the Timeline View by Free Text n page 10). Actins n the Selected Device Yu can perfrm actins n the selected device by clicking the required actin icn in the windw tlbar. (If an icn is nt displayed, click the Mre Enfrce Base Layers Set Driver Library Rebt Suspend/Resume Synchrnize Cllect Lgs Restre Revert T Snapsht Nte buttn.) These include: A cnfirmatin prmpt appears, r a wizard prcess is activated. Fllw the instructins prvided in the wizard pages. Fr mre infrmatin, refer t the Hrizn Mirage Administratr s Guide. The actins can be perfrmed frm either the Grid View r the Timeline View. The fllwing sectins describe specific infrmatin relevant t the Hrizn Mirage Web Manager. Update Nte Yu can maintain a nte with descriptive textual infrmatin abut the selected device. Yu pen the nte page (initially a blank sheet) by clicking the Nte icn in the windw tlbar. Then type infrmatin in the nte and click Submit t save and clse the windw. Yu can edit the nte by the same prcess. Incremental changes are either saved (with Submit) r discarded (with Cancel). If yu cancel changes, any previusly saved text remains intact. The device s nte can be maintained frm either the Grid View r the Timeline View. Revert t Snapsht in the Grid View When this actin is perfrmed frm the Grid View, the required snapsht is selected thrugh the wizard. Any snapshts in the windw list are shwn fr infrmatin purpses nly and are nt part f the wizard prcess. If yu perfrm the functin frm the Timeline View, yu can preselect the snapsht that will be used by the wizard (see Revert t Snapsht in the Timeline View n page 10). 8

Timeline View Yu can present the device s actin histry in a timeline (select the Timeline View icn ). Circles represent tasks. The clr f the circle represents the task status - Blue means in-prgress, green means cmpleted successfully, red means failed, range means a warning. When a task r steady state actin takes a lng time t cmplete, a bar f the same clr replaces the actin icn, shwing its executin time relative t the timeline. Other actin types (incremental uplads r steady state, snapshts, events, audit events) are represented by symbls that resemble the icns used fr filtering (see Filtering the Grid View by Actin Type n page 7). Multiple actins that ccurred at r arund the same time are gruped as ne icn with a circled number indicating the number f actins that the icn summarizes (fr example, r if the number is 100 r mre). Icns f same actin type are lined up at a different heights abve the timeline, in their chrnlgical rder. Fr example, events appear at ne height, and audit events at anther. Pinting in the vicinity f icns pens ballns f infrmatin abut the underlying actins. (The icns will all be f the same type, lcated n the same height abve the timeline. Up t three icn / icn grup infrmatin ballns can appear, subject t graphical limitatins.) Fr an icn representing ne actin, infrmatin abut that actin appears, in the same way as described in the Grid View. Each actin type has its wn infrmatin set. Fr a gruped icn, the balln lists the actins gruped by that icn. The state f each individual actin is shwn. The clr f the icn represents the wrst case actin. Fr example, if tw actins are designated with Warning and ne with Failure, the icn is clred red. Yu can click a gruped icn t limit the timeline zm range t the dates f its assciated actins. Yu can then click an individual actin listed in a balln t see its detailed infrmatin set. The parameters differ accrding t the actin type. Click the right-left arrw icns t scrll t the next/previus actin in chrnlgical rder n the timeline. 9

Zming the Timeline View Yu initially see a zmed-ut view that shws the last 3 t 30 days events (depending n the number f failed events fr the device). Yu can limit the date range by grabbing and mving the timeline end-anchrs. This will expand the selected date range t fill the hrizntal view. After pinting t a gruped icn t shw a list f its cmpnent actins, yu can expand the date range summarized by the icn t fill the entire hrizntal view by clicking the gruped icn r anywhere n the tltip. The displayed actins are arranged in chrnlgical rder. Yu can als zm in r ut n the view cntents by pinting t the Scrll icn in the timeline bar and rlling the muse wheel frward r back. Filtering the Timeline View by Actin Type Yu can filter the actins displayed in the timeline t include nly thse whse tlbar symbl is enabled. This is used in the same way as described in Filtering the Grid View by Actin Type n page 7. This filter can be set in either the Grid View r the Timeline View and is autmatically applied in the ther view. Searching the Timeline View by Free Text Yu can search the listed device infrmatin by free text. 1. Click the Free Text Search icn t pen the Free Text bx, and enter a search string. The currently defined timeline interval (fr example 3 days) shifts s that the earliest actin that satisfies the search string appears in the middle f yur screen. 2. Click the Right arrw buttn t identify each next actin in the same way, r click the Left arrw buttn t return t an earlier actin. This search can be set in either the Grid View r the Timeline View. It is applied autmatically in the ther view as either a filter r a search, accrding t the methdlgy described fr that view (see Filtering the Grid View by Free Text n page 10). Actins n the Selected Device frm the Timeline View Yu can perfrm actins n the selected device by clicking the required actin icn in the windw tlbar. The actins can be perfrmed frm either the Grid View r the Timeline View. Fr details, see Actins n the Selected Device n page 8. Revert t Snapsht in the Timeline View Yu can revert t a snapsht by right-clicking its Camera icn and selecting Revert t Snapsht frm the shrtcut menu. The Revert t Snapsht wizard pens with the snapsht yu want already selected. This functin is specifically relevant t the Timeline View. 10

Yu can als perfrm Revert t Snapsht by clicking the Revert t Snapsht icn at the tp f the windw and chsing the required snapsht as part f the wizard prcess, in the same way as described fr the Grid View (see Revert t Snapsht in the Grid View n page 8.) Dashbard In additin t help-desk supprt, the Mirage Web Manager prvides dashbard infrmatin t assist the Prtectin Manager rle t ensure that user devices are prtected. The dashbard prvides a variety f statistics t help mnitr the centralizatin and backup prcess. Nte: Dashbard access must be enabled in the client installatin prcess. See Installatin Ntes n page 3. T access the Dashbard: Click the icn in the left-side panel. The Dashbard appears with three tiles f infrmatin: Centralizatin Status Tile Prtectin Status Tile Shrt Discnnects Tile Centralizatin Status Tile This tile prvides a first level indicatin f centralizatin prcess prgress: Hw many devices are currently being centralized. Hw many have cmpleted the centralizatin prcess histrically (including archived CVDs, but nt including reference CVDs). Clicking in the tile displays a line chart with different infrmatin abut the centralizatin prcess, based n yur selectins: Cumulative number f centralizatins cmpleted ver a selected time span - ne week (daily data), ne mnth (daily data), r 6 mnths (weekly data) since tday s date. Cmpsite chart that includes, fr a specified timeframe (same ptins as previus chart): Number f CVDs that cmpleted centralizatin Number f CVDs that are currently in the centralizatin prcess Amunt f data transferred GB (Y-axis is denminated in GB) Click the Restre Dwn icn at tp-right t return t the tile view. 11

Prtectin Status Tile This tile shws hw many devices (centralizing r centralized) have prtectin prblems: Hw many CVDs did nt finish centralizing (backing up the first time) during the past week. Hw many CVDs cmpleted centralizatin but did nt back up fr mre than ne week. A statistic that is less than the cnfigured threshld appears with a red warning indicatr. The threshlds can be cnfigured in the dashbard s web.cnfig file by adjusting the DashbardKpiCentralizatinNtFinishedCunt and DashbardKpiNtBackedUpCunt values, respectively. Clicking in the tile displays a pie chart shwing details f the tp five errr types that ccurred during a selected timeframe (the last day, week, r mnth): The legend shws the tp five prblem types that stpped uplads frm cmpleting during the timeframe. The pie chart shws the relative prprtin f each f these prblem types in the timeframe. Any remaining errr types that are present in the timeframe are aggregated as Other. Yu can view errr infrmatin in terms f either CVDs that did nt cmplete centralizatin (Centralizatin), r CVDs that did nt finish backup (Backed up), r Bth (default). Shrt Discnnects Tile This tile prvides a first level indicatin f whether there were prblems with the netwrk cnnectin between servers and clients in the past 24 hurs. It displays the average number f discnnectins per device per hur f discnnectin. (Discnnects during idle time are nt cunted.) A discnnect is recgnized when a netwrk disruptin during a Mirage peratin is fllwed by a discnnectin within 5 minutes. A statistic that is less than the cnfigured threshld appears with a red warning indicatr. The threshld can be cnfigured in the dashbard s web.cnfig file by adjusting the DashbardKpiSubnetShrtDiscnnectsRati value. Clicking in the tile displays a grid with mre infrmatin abut the failures n each subnet. 12
