Special... 15 1. 3D Graphic window o File, Graphics Output Using this function during the graphical reporting the created view can be printed without having to quit the report. For example, this allows the user to test printing before actually printing. o View The Combined Tool (Rotate, Pan, Zoom) is always active. It can no longer be deactivated with a right mouse click. o Insert, Help elements / edit, Element- / measurement point data The direction vector for the help elements (Point, Circle, Rectangle, Slot) can be changed during insert and edit. o 3D Graphic settings Colour definitions, Tolerances Tolerance zone For positive and negative ranges different colours can be selected. The configuration is displayed as colour for the point symbols, the deviation quill and the point boxes in the graphical output. 18.02.2005 / Neuerungen in Metrosoft CM 3.60_Eng.doc / DWi / WENZEL CM-Usermeeting Page 1 / 15

o 3D Graphic settings Colour definition, Colour spectrum Continuous colour characteristics can be defined over a colour spectrum for upper and lower tolerances. o 3D Graphic settings Point display, Colour The actual colour can now be defined over colour definitions. The hue of the actual point (Point and Quill) varies linear to the amount of deviation within a defined colour spectrum. The calculation of the hue is defined with the tolerance of every single actual point or with globally defined spectrum limits for the colour value. o 3D Graphic settings Representation, Connect actual points The actual points of an actual surface can now not only be connected to lines, but also to a surface. The actual points are connected and projected over the CAD model with a triangular surface net. This surface is coloured according to the colours of the actual points, whereby the colour is interpolated within the facets (triangular). This is often designated as a wrong colour representation. o Display, Colour spectrum The legend for the colour spectrum can be placed into the graphic window with a mouse click. 18.02.2005 / Neuerungen in Metrosoft CM 3.60_Eng.doc / DWi / WENZEL CM-Usermeeting Page 2 / 15

o 3D Graphic settings Display, Network Grid, Intercept of axis A network grid is represented by intercept of axis, the intercept position of the coordinate system axis (cross-over point of the axis) can be defined. o 3D Graphic settings Point display, Point symbol The amount given in "limit to", indicates how many point symbols per geometrical element will be maximally displayed. Since the display of the point symbols is computationally intensive, the performance of the graphics display is increased when using this limitation with many points. o Output, Inspection report settings The output settings "All features", "Only features out of tolerance" and "Features with deviation out of +/- %" will be used in the graphical output. By activating the "+/-" switch it is now possible to consider "Only features within tolerance" and "Features with deviation within +/- %". This applies to features in the geometric graphic and the actual points of freeform elements in the element graphics. o Report, Prepare View, Content, Selection width So that only each 2nd, 3rd or nth point is reported, the actual points can be reported over selection width. For example, a selection width of 2 is suitable for edge points without their stored reference points. Clicking on the column headings sorts the list of the reported elements. o Report, Prepare View, Insert surface statistic box The surface statistics was extended and adapted for surface selection, measurement selection and two separate connecting lines are drawn from the surface statistics box to the min/max points.operation. Now o File, Reload model A progress bar was integrated. o Display, Probe Display the configured probe system (Draw On/Off). Display the "CmConfig" selected Probe head. Display the "CmConfig" defined Quill. 18.02.2005 / Neuerungen in Metrosoft CM 3.60_Eng.doc / DWi / WENZEL CM-Usermeeting Page 3 / 15

2. Measurement of geometrical elements o GRIPS During the off-line programming, using a mouse, intermediate points can be interactively created outside of the element measurement graphic. The IP is first set on the CAD model and then shifted. The IP can also be directly placed on a CAD point, which lies in the air. o Scanning, Geometry In GRIPS the following elements can now be programmed with measuring probe systems online and offline: Line/Plane Plane Circle/Cylinder Cylinder Cone Sphere o Measurement points per element Now 30'000 measurement points per element are possible (previously max. 10'000). o Measuring machine settings Scan method Through the option "Scan path known" substantially higher speeds with known contours can be achieved. o Plane scans New options "Polyline (open)" and "Curve (open spline)" for point distribution. 18.02.2005 / Neuerungen in Metrosoft CM 3.60_Eng.doc / DWi / WENZEL CM-Usermeeting Page 4 / 15

3. Measurement of free-from surfaces o GRIPS / Click'n'Measure During the off-line programming, with a mouse, intermediate points can be interactively created outside of the element measurement graphic. The IP is first set on the CAD model and then shifted. The IP can also be directly placed on a CAD point, which lies in air. o Click'n'Measure The collision detection for the function "Click'n'Measure" was optimised. 4. Coordinate systems o Define coordinate system out of several points in the net (RPS) The target coordinates of the RPS points can now be taken from a CAD model (3D graphic). This is very helpful for determining a model PCS using a RPS adjustment. After the RPS points (elements) are selected the RPS nominal points can be clicked in the 3D graphic using the now visible mouse buttons "Multi select" or "Single select". A precondition is that the nominal surface is linked in the specification for element measurement and storage (DEF). 5. Feature Determination o Symmetry tolerance acc. ISO1101/ASME Y14.5 A line can now be used as a reference element. o Profile of a line acc. ISO1101/ASME Y14.5 If the feature determination is applied to an actual curve, then the deviation is computed directly from the actual curve. A nominal element is not needed, since the CAD model contains a nominal curve. 18.02.2005 / Neuerungen in Metrosoft CM 3.60_Eng.doc / DWi / WENZEL CM-Usermeeting Page 5 / 15

o Profile of a Surface acc. ISO1101/ASME Y14.5 If the feature determination is applied to an actual surface, then the deviation is computed directly from the actual surface. A nominal element is not needed, since the CAD model contains a nominal surface. 6. Part inspection programming, DMIS o Edit Part inspection program In the PIP window we introduce new functions for the easy editing from Part inspection programming: Cut Copy Paste Search o Import PIP from Metrosoft 3D [F5] The functionality and the module CM-3D2CM were completely removed from Metrosoft CM. o DMIS 4 Scanning for Part inspection programming The following DMIS commands for Scanning are now supported: PAMEAS PATH/UNKNOWN LINE ARC HELICAL o DMIS Interpreter (DIP) The supported commands of DMIS was expanded in different areas. There were new DMIS commands added and already supported DMIS commands can now be used in extended, broader variants. The DMIS Characterization file gives further detailed information. 18.02.2005 / Neuerungen in Metrosoft CM 3.60_Eng.doc / DWi / WENZEL CM-Usermeeting Page 6 / 15

o Mode AUTO for the element measurement (DMIS MODE/AUTO,PROG,MAN equivalent) In the mode AUTO only the parameters and the measurement strategy are stored in the PIP however not the probed points. The travel path for element measurement is calculated during the PIP - execution with consideration of the active probe system. Thereby clearer, shorter, more flexible and above all sensor-independent programs can be realized (switching, measuring, optically). A PIP set of an AUTO element can be simply edited using "Edit". 7. System o Directories The path for the definition of the system directories can be given or edited directly in the dialog. o I++ DME Client and Server Client: Metrosoft CM can be used as measurement software client on I++ compatible coordinate measurement machines. Server: I++ compatible measurement software can be used over Metrosoft I++ DME Server on WENZEL measurement machines. The I++ DME interface in the long term will replace the expensively maintained drivers (direct interfaces), existing in Metrosoft CM. Support the I++ DME standard, actual version 1.4 8. Data o Export/Import, Probe system Probe systems, including the information needed for the automatic calibration such as number, name, rotation and swivel angle, group and graphic information (without calibration data), can be converted into a XML file for export and import. Thus probe systems can be transferred from one CMM to another and afterwards over the function "Automatic calibration of probe system" (matrix) be calibrated. o Data management, SQL Database: Speed Speed while producing features has been optimised. The size of the database no longer has an influence on speed. 18.02.2005 / Neuerungen in Metrosoft CM 3.60_Eng.doc / DWi / WENZEL CM-Usermeeting Page 7 / 15

o Data management, Data management, Copy to, Copy from: Characteristics and actual values from the inspection report can be copied from one database into another. Thus the measuring results can be copied from a local measurement machine database into a central database, e.g. for backup. o Data management, Display the reference for actual points In the data management the reference for actual points are displayed. R = Reference (CAD Model) F = Face (CAD Surface) o Data management, Export Q-DAS Arbitrary K-fields can be defined and exported into the Q-DAS file. The export from a PIP is no longer limited to 50 characteristics. o Import, Freeform data (CAD) The following CAD converters were extended: ProEngineer Converter supports format to and including Version Wildfire CATIA V5 Converter supports format to and including Version R13 Parasolid Converter supports format to and including Version 15 Unigraphics Converter supports format to and including Version NX2 and assemblies. 18.02.2005 / Neuerungen in Metrosoft CM 3.60_Eng.doc / DWi / WENZEL CM-Usermeeting Page 8 / 15

User format Converter supports the LTT Element ("Link To Tolerance"; with surface linked tolerances). This is an extension of the DC ASCII-Feature-Interface. o Statistic settings, Create Excel actual value examination report The arrangement of the characteristics can be defined in the statistics settings. Apart from the arrangement in columns or in lines, the actual values or the deviations to be exported can also be defined. The file name for the Excel template (* xlt) is now freely configurable. 9. Machine o CAA settings: New Format for cm-caaw.vo2 files The Wenzel compensation file cm-caaw.vo2 was extended. Therefore a conversion is now necessary. With the new EasyMap tool CMM acceptance and reverification can be executed faster and more exact (more supporting places). To prevent any confusion the file correlates to the Metrokey number of the CMM. o Temperature compensation: Temperatures The base temperature values for climate-controlled rooms can be configured in the file "TempCompMan.dat". The manual temperature compensation from Metrosoft CM always starts with the preset base values. [Default-Temperatures] Workpiece = 24 Xaxis = 24 Yaxis = 24 Zaxis = 24 Portal = 24 (From TempCompMan.dat) o Offline programming, Settings For the simulation of measurements a delay per probed point can be defined. The range of the sliding control is freely configurable. 18.02.2005 / Neuerungen in Metrosoft CM 3.60_Eng.doc / DWi / WENZEL CM-Usermeeting Page 9 / 15

o CMM Error dialog: new option "PCS translation" Over the new option in the CMM error dialog "Translate PCS", the PCS can now be shifted. Thus miscellaneous deviations occurring during the measurement can be corrected collision-free. This option is always active when the option "Repeat element - CNC" is active. 10. Probe o Show / modify probe system: interactive configuration of the probe system From the existing components a user catalog can be created. The catalog would contain the components and building groups, present on the respective coordinate measuring machine. From the user catalog desired probe systems can be configured. Thus the elements for a probe system can be integrated, proofed and graphically controlled in one dialogue. The probe system configured is viewable in both the geometric and element graphic. The configuration is stored to the probe system. 18.02.2005 / Neuerungen in Metrosoft CM 3.60_Eng.doc / DWi / WENZEL CM-Usermeeting Page 10 / 15

o Reference sphere, Settings A security zone can be defined around the shaft of the reference sphere. o Calibrate probe system / Automatic calibration of probe system The mounting position of the reference sphere shaft is considered during the calibration by trigger and measuring probe systems. The probed points are dependent on the probe direction and are optimally distributed on the reference sphere, whereby the security zone around the reference sphere shaft during the point distribution is excluded. Probing area before: Probing area with consideration of the mounting position: o Scanning Calibration Using the option "Scan path known" the calibration can be accomplished faster and more efficiently. This option ensures problem-free calibration with "awkward" probe positions related to SP25 and SP80. o Settings for probe system calibration, Scanning Re calibration Calibrating scanning probes is rather time-consuming because several scan paths must be driven around the reference sphere. For already calibrated scanning probe systems a faster recalibration is now available. In place of the scan paths only some points at the reference sphere are taken in order to determine the position and the diameter of the reference sphere. The characteristics are taken from the existing probe system 18.02.2005 / Neuerungen in Metrosoft CM 3.60_Eng.doc / DWi / WENZEL CM-Usermeeting Page 11 / 15

o Multiple auto change rack (MPC) For the definition of the slot contents, the Probe systems components dialogue is available. Thus slot contents can be considered graphically. The current probe system is arranged interactively from the single slot components. A plausibility check before probe change prevents components that do not fit from being accepted. o PHS Probe head in Simulation (offline) The PHS can be used in Simulator (offline) if it is selected in the CmConfig. o PHS Probe head calibration: Display the Quality of the calibration At the end of the PHS head calibration the quality of the calibration is displayed. On the basis of this value the user can decide whether the probe head was successfully calibrated and thus either accept or reject the calibration. Extensive tests have shown that the quality of the probe head calibration is a determining factor for the accuracy of measurements with different PHS angle positions. o PH10 Probe head: Show/define position of motorized probe head: configure As in the PHS swivel dialogue, now the PH10 mounting position can be defined. Thus the probe can be represented as it is e.g. installed on the measuring machine. 18.02.2005 / Neuerungen in Metrosoft CM 3.60_Eng.doc / DWi / WENZEL CM-Usermeeting Page 12 / 15

o Integrating the Phoenix sensor With the Phoenix sensor elements can be completely measured optically through a hybrid measurement of laser network grid and grey image analysis. Complete means that both the reference element (level) as well as the measuring element is measured from one CMM position. If the dimension of the measured element (circle, rectangle or slotted hole) is larger than the view of the Phoenix sensor, multiple pictures are taken automatically from different CMM positions. Therefore measurement time is reduced and the measurement is insensitive to positional variations of elements. The Phoenix sensor was integrated completely into the Metrosoft CM 3.60. Functions are available for adjustment of the optical parameters, calibration and measurements. Automatic measuring expirations can be implemented both by CM part inspection programs as well as by DMIS programs. 18.02.2005 / Neuerungen in Metrosoft CM 3.60_Eng.doc / DWi / WENZEL CM-Usermeeting Page 13 / 15

11. Periphery o Wenzel WPC2010 / 2020 / 2030 WPC firmware version 22.xx is necessary for the use of scanning and optical measuring systems (Renishaw SP600, SP25, SP80, Wenzel Phoenix) as well as when using the I++ DME server. During the start of Metrosoft CM the firmware version on the controller is read in order to load the correct controller driver into Metrosoft CM. For incompatible versions a warning is sent during start up. The firmware version 22.xx contains various improvements regarding probing optimisation, scanning and performance. o Wenzel HT400 The functions keys F1 F12 can be configured in the "HT100.dat" file. Before only the functions keys F1 F10 were supported. o Leica Laser Tracker The emscon driver was extended and through that the Leica Laser Tracker completely integrated into Metrosoft CM: Scanning with point acceptance in a defined time interval Scanning with point acceptance in a defined path interval T-Probe Nivel20 o Mora: The hand box functions keys F1-F8 are newly supported. 12. Installation o CmConfig, Interface, Selection, Machine Additional to the installation direction of the quill now also the length and width of the quill can be configured. The settings for length and width only have influence on the representation of the quill in the 3D graphic window. 18.02.2005 / Neuerungen in Metrosoft CM 3.60_Eng.doc / DWi / WENZEL CM-Usermeeting Page 14 / 15

o CmConfig, Probe, Probe head New selection list for defining the probe head displayed in the 3D graphic window. o CmConfig, Help [F1] The configuration help can now be called up directly over [F1]. o Metrokey driver The actual Sentinel Super Pro driver, Version 5.42, for the parallel port und USB Metrokey (Dongle) are installed together with a Metrosoft CM installation or update. o Operating system Windows NT4.0 is no longer supported, installation is no longer possible Reason: New technology and components were used in CM 3.60 that are standard in the operating system Windows XP, but not available to Windows NT 4.0. Furthermore, since February 2002 the operating system Windows NT 4.0 is no longer supported by Microsoft. 13. Special o VANE Probe The function has been completely eliminated from Metrosoft CM. 18.02.2005 / Neuerungen in Metrosoft CM 3.60_Eng.doc / DWi / WENZEL CM-Usermeeting Page 15 / 15
