Available folders This is the folder view. From here you can view your inbox, calendar, or any other folder shown on the left. This is the reading pane. From here you can view your messages, calendars, etc.
Use the folders to navigate to different parts of your Outlook information center.
Appears when mail arrives.
The Inbox indicates a new message and may be clicked on to access the new message. The number in parenthesis tells you the number of new messages.
Unread message in Folder View A bold e-mail indicates an unread message.
Premium mode right-click options In Premium Mode you can right-click on an e-mail to access different options.
Inbox Folder Toolbar Click to create a new e-mail message. Click to move the message to a folder Click to delete the selected e-mail. To reply to the sender only To reply to the sender and all recipients To forward message to others Click to change the location of the reading pane. Send/receive button Search button to search folders for items. Address book.
Creating a new message Put the address in this field. If the person has an e-mail account at school, you can just type their name. You can click on the To: button to access the address book. Send the message to another person. Usually, this person would be a secondary recipient. Send the message to another person. where others will NOT know that this person is receiving a copy. Type the message in this box. Give the recipient a brief description of the content of the message. Click this button to add an attachment to a message.

Message Delivery Options Sensitivity of message is listed at top of message as illustrated below: Check this to receive a message that e-mail was delivered. Check this to receive a message that e-mail has been read. Note: This is not an automated response. It may require the recipient to choose to send receipt.

Creating Rules A rule may be triggered by various fields: From field contains: This will trigger the rule when a message comes from a certain sender. In this example the trigger will be when a message is received from James Holland. Subject contains: This will trigger the rule when a message has a certain word or phrase in the subject line. Importance is: This will trigger the rule when a message comes with a certain level of importance. Sent to: This will trigger the rule when message is sent to a certain person or group. Sent only to me: Check this box if you want to trigger the rule when a message is only send to you. You can use one of the above triggers or any combination. Once a rule is triggered, the options are: Move it to the specified folder: If you click on specified, you can choose the folder to where the message is sent. Copy it to the specified folder: If you click on specified, you can choose the folder to where the message is copied. Delete it: Message will be deleted upon arrival and will reside in the deleted items folder. Forward it to: Message will be forwarded to recipients as designated. A copy can be kept in the Inbox.
Rules Warning If you have created any rules and disabled them before we upgraded to this new version of Outlook, you will need to delete them.
Creating Folders: Organizing Data You can create folders under the root folder or under pre-existing folders. Right-click on the root folder or any pre-existing folder. Choose New Folder Give a name to the folder. Choose what type of information will be stored in the folder. In this case the folder will contain e-mails items. This folder will be created off the root folder. You can click on any pre-existing folder or subfolder to change where the new folder will be located. Click OK.
Public Folders When clicked, Public Folders will open in a new window. Public folders can contain Test Calendars, Announcements, and other information. Some folders may not be accessible depending on your access rights.
Options Folder: Customizing Outlook Web Access When out of the office message is checked, the Auto Reply will be sent to all who send message to this box. Various customizations: Notification options Signature created or edited Change e-mail font Spell check options Junk e-mail filter must be check to add filter.
Options Folder: Customizing Outlook Web Access (Cont.) You can change the color scheme of Outlook Web Access. Reminders will work on the web as long as Outlook Web Access is left open. Contact options determine which name lists will be used first to resolve the name typed in the To: CC: Bcc: fields. Users can change their passwords. This password change will change the password you use to access your school account as well as your e-mail account. After items are delete from the Deleted Items folder, they are kept for 90 days from the deleted date on the server.
