Preface This document briefly explains the operations that need to be performed by the user in order to connect an ETERNUS2000 model 100 or 200, ETERNUS4000 model 300, 400, 500, or 600, or ETERNUS8000 model 700, 800, 900, 1100, 1200, 2100, or 2200 Disk storage system to a server via a Fibre Channel switch. This document should be used in conjunction with any other applicable user manuals, such as those for the ETERNUS2000 model 100 or 200, ETERNUS4000 model 300, 400, 500, or 600, or ETERNUS8000 model 700, 800, 900, 1100, 1200, 2100, or 2200 Disk storage system, server, OS used, Fibre Channel cards, drivers, etc. Also, note that in this document the ETERNUS2000 models 100 and 200, ETERNUS4000 models 300, 400, 500, and 600, and ETERNUS8000 models 700, 800, 900, 1100, 1200, 2100, and 2200 Disk storage systems are collectively referred to as ETERNUS Disk storage systems. Chapter 1 Preparations This chapter describes the basic settings for Fibre Channel switches (ETERNUS SN200 series, SilkWorm series by Brocade, Brocade DCX series) and how to set the zone settings when using Fibre Channel switches to connect the server and the ETERNUS Disk storage systems. The description in this section presumes that configuration of the target system has already been set. Therefore, instructions on setting the system configuration are not described in this manual. For details on the Fibre Channel switch, refer to the information provided with the Fibre Channel switch. If you are using SAN management software for the SAN settings, refer to the manual for the Fibre Channel switch settings included with each software. The Fibre Channel switches described here are Class 1 laser products, which should have no affect on humans, but for safety's sake, please do not look directly into the beam. 1.1 Environment The following Fibre Channel switches are described in this document. Switch type 1 / 2 / 4Gbps Fibre Channel 1 / 2Gbps Fibre Channel 2 / 4 / 8Gbps Fibre Channel Model ETERNUS SN200 models 430, 480, 485, 490, 540, 600, 630, and 660 SilkWorm 4100, 4900, 5000, 48000, and 200E ETERNUS SN200 models 220, 230, and 240 SilkWorm 3200, 3250, 3800, 3850, 3900, 12000, and 24000 ETERNUS SN200 models 140, 600, 630, 660, and 540 Brocade 300, 5100, 5300, 48000, DCX, and DCX-4S 10

Chapter 1 Preparations > 1.2 Tools Necessary for the Setup 1.2 Tools Necessary for the Setup Maintenance of the Fibre Channel switch is performed via Ethernet. The following items will be required: Computer The computer must have Windows 2000, Windows XP, or Windows Vista installed, and must also have an Ethernet Interface (10BASE-T or 100BASE-T). Ethernet cable (crossover cable) 10/100BASE-T (crossover cable). The crossover cable connects the Fibre Channel switch to the computer used as a maintenance terminal. A crossover cable is provided with the ETERNUS SN200 series and Brocade DCX series. 11

Chapter 2 Notes Various precautions are described below: 2.1 Zoning We recommend that the Fibre Channel switch port numbers, connected Fibre Channel cards, and CA WWNs of storage system be used to set up one-to-one zoning between Fibre Channel ports. Zoning divides a Fibre Channel switch into zones according to port numbers of the Fibre Channel switch, connected Fibre Channel cards and CA WWNs of the storage system. This feature allows access from within the same zone but restricts access from other zones, and localizes the management information that the Fibre Channel switch manages. 2.2 System Topology The procedure described here is for systems where server and storage are connected via Fibre Channel switch. The connection is a "fabric connection". 2.3 Path Redundancy When the ETERNUS Disk storage systems have multiple CAs, and a multipath disk control driver (path fail-over driver) is used to connect them to the server, at least two Fibre Channel switches should be used to maintain the path redundancy. Connect the two CAs that will form the multipath to different Fibre Channel switches. 2.4 ISL Trunking ISL Trunking is the function to secure the order of commands, integrating as many as eight ports between two adjoining Fibre Channel switches, and delivers traffic on wide area bandwidth. The ISL Trunking function, available in ETERNUS SN200 series, SilkWorm series, and Brocade DCX series, is not described in this manual. For the details, refer to the User Guide of the Fibre Channel switch. 12

Chapter 2 Notes > 2.5 Mixing ETERNUS SN200 Models 2.5 Mixing ETERNUS SN200 Models The firmware level of the ETERNUS SN200 series varies as follows depending on the model. ETERNUS SN200 model name ETERNUS SN200 models 210 and 240 ETERNUS SN200 models 220 and 230 ETERNUS SN200 models 120, 430, 480, 485, 450M, 490, and 540 ETERNUS SN200 models 140, 600, 630, and 660 ETERNUS SN200 model 250M Firmware level Fabric OS v3.2.0a Fabric OS v5.1.1b Fabric OS v5.3.0d Fabric OS v6.1.1 XPath OS v7.4.1e When SN200-SN200 cascade connection is used, the presence of models with firmware levels different from those shown above in the same fabric as the above models may cause SN200 operational instability. The zoning settings should also be updated after the cascade connection is complete. When in the same fabric as a SN200 model 600, 630, or 660, the other SN200 models must be running the following firmware versions: ETERNUS SN200 model name ETERNUS SN200 models 210 and 240 ETERNUS SN200 models 220 and 230 ETERNUS SN200 models 430, 480, 485, 450M, 490, and 540 ETERNUS SN200 models 600, 630, and 660 ETERNUS SN200 model 250M Firmware level Fabric OS v3.2.1c Fabric OS v5.3.1b Fabric OS v6.1.1 Fabric OS v6.1.1 XPath OS v7.4.1e SN200 models 210 and 240 Core Switch PID format parameter must be set to "1" when other models are present in the same fabric. Use the "configure" command to change "Core Switch PID format" setting. For details, refer to the Fabric OS reference manual. 2.6 Domain ID When connecting a HP-UX server to the Fibre Channel switch, set the domain ID to a value other than "8". If "8" is set, the device will not be recognized correctly. 13

Chapter 2 Notes > 2.7 Cascade Connection Restrictions 2.7 Cascade Connection Restrictions For the ETERNUS SN200 models 120 and 140, cascade connection is not available. For the ETERNUS SN200 model 210 standard configuration, only one port can be used for cascade connection. No more than two ETERNUS SN200 model 220 or model 230 Fibre Channel switches may be connected within the same Fabric. 2.8 Fibre Channel Switch Notes Before installing the Fibre Channel switch, read the User Guide and Setting Procedure Guide provided with the product. When installing two Fibre Channel cards to one server for path redundancy, connect each Fibre Channel card to different Fibre Channel switches. If they are connected to the same Fibre Channel switch, a single point of failure results in loss of redundancy. - Recommended configuration Server ETERNUS Disk storage systems Fibre Channel Card Fibre Channel Switch 1 CA CM Fibre Channel Card Fibre Channel Switch 2 CA CM - Incorrect configuration (loss of redundancy) Server ETERNUS Disk storage systems Fibre Channel Card CA Fibre Channel Switch CM Fibre Channel Card CA CM 14

Chapter 2 Notes > 2.8 Fibre Channel Switch Notes Set the Fibre Channel switch zones. - LUNs may not be correctly recognized by the server if the zones are not set. Set the zone by following one of the methods below. Set the access paths using the ETERNUS SF Storage Cruiser "Access Path Management" function. Set the Fibre Channel switch to use Hard zoning (Port zoning). Set the Fibre Channel switch to use Soft zoning (WWN zoning). - When setting zones for the Fibre Channel switch, two ports or WWNs must be included in one zone. - If a speed is not specified for a port (check the "Notes" chapter in the "ETERNUS Disk storage systems Server Connection Guide (Fibre Channel)" for each OS), set the [LinkSpeed] of the Fibre Channel switch to [Autoselect]. When setting the access path using the ETERNUS SF Storage Cruiser, Host Response No. will be set to default values. Set the Host Response No. after setting the access path using the ETERNUS SF Storage Cruiser. For details, refer to "ETERNUS Disk storage systems Server Connection Guide (Fibre Channel) ETERNUS Disk storage system Settings". - The following example shows a configuration with a server and ETERNUS SN200 series connection. Port zoning has been set. Chapter 3 System Design This describes the settings necessary before connecting each device. 3.1 Checking the System Configuration If you want to perform system configuration using Fibre Channel switches, it is necessary to design the system in detail beforehand. The procedure described here presumes that system design has already been completed. You can assign any integer from 1 to 239. However, when connecting the Fibre Channel switches (cascade connection), it is necessary to assign each switch a different switch domain ID. When connecting Fibre Channel switches in a cascade configuration, assign a different switch domain ID for each Fibre Channel switch. We also recommend that you assign each switch an individual switch domain ID for the future, even if the switches are not currently connected by a cascade cable. If Fibre Channel switches with identical switch domain IDs are connected by a cascade cable, the switch domain ID will automatically be changed to an unrecognized ID, or the synchronized setting information of the switches cannot be collected. In the worst situation, the data may be lost. When connecting a HP-UX server to the Fibre Channel switch, set the domain ID to a value other than "8". This divides Fibre Channel switches into zones based on the port names. This feature allows access from within one zone but restricts access from other zones. Zoning is used for the following purposes: Synthesizing heterogeneous environments Protecting fabric areas Stabilizing system performance This feature allows device access from within the same zone, but restricts device access from other zones that have different attributes. The following describes the procedure for entering zone settings into the Fibre Channel zoning settings table. 3.4.1 Zoning Types There are two types of zoning: port zoning and WWN zoning. This section describes how to set up port zoning. Port zoning Port zoning specifies the port information (zone member) of the Fibre Channel switch for a registered members of a Fibre Channel switch zone group. Port information (for a zone member) includes information regarding the switch domain ID and the switch port number. For example, if the switch domain ID is "1" and the port number is "2", port information displays (1, 2) as the zone member. Zones are recognized by port locations, so the connecting device information is not required. However, you need to re-enter the zone information whenever you change the Fibre Channel switch domain ID or the location of the device connection port. 27

Referring to the system configuration diagram, enter the zone settings used between the Fibre Channel switch and the storage system/servers and the chosen wiring layout in the zoning settings table (wiring diagram). The following describes the procedure for entering information into the wiring diagram. Procedure 1 Refer to the system configuration diagram, and enter products (the server, switch, storage system) that are necessary to the configuration, into the zoning settings table (wiring diagram). Also, enter the basic setting information such as device names and IP addresses for the entered devices. 2 Follow the instructions described in "System Configuration" to connect the cables between Fibre Channel switch ports and devices or adapters. 3 Select one of the Fibre Channel ports of the ETERNUS Disk storage systems, and check which server-side Fibre Channel cards and paths are connected to that Fibre Channel port. 4 The Fibre Channel switch ports corresponding to the path route checked in Step 3 are grouped as one zone. Enter the zone number into the appropriate cell indicating the server port/storage system port connection. 5 Repeat Step 3 and Step 4 for all of the Fibre Channel ports that are connected to a Fibre Channel switch. 6 Make sure that all of the zone numbers have been entered. 28

Chapter 3 System Design > 3.5 Setting the ETERNUS Disk storage systems in Advance 3 Cable tags Multiple Fibre Channel cables are used when connecting Fibre Channel switches with the ETERNUS Disk storage systems or the server, or when connecting two or more Fibre Channel switches. This can make it difficult to understand how the cables are connected. To avoid confusion during system maintenance, we recommend that both ends of each cable be labeled with a tag in order to easily recognize which cable is for which device/ port. You can use any words for the tags, however, make sure that the words are easy to understand, and are consistent with the information in the previously created Fibre Channel switch settings table. Example The following shows the cable tags between the Fibre Channel switches and the ETERNUS Disk storage systems, as used in the previously created Fibre Channel switch settings table. It is necessary to use ETERNUSmgr to change to a topology that supports fabric connection. 38

Refer to the "ETERNUS Disk storage systems Server Connection Guide (Fibre Channel)" for each OS for details on the settings. This section describes the method used to create a table of the path routes from the server to the ETERNUS Disk storage systems. Procedure 1 Create a path route table Note relevant information about the paths connecting the server and the storage system on the path route table. 2 Create a WWN instance management table for storage system Create the frame for the WWN instance management table for the server. End of procedure 3.6.1 Creating a Path Route Table Create a path route table (management sheet) to plan how to connect the server and ETERNUS Disk storage systems connection paths. Server side Storage system side By creating a path route table, you can identify which Fibre Channel card in which slot on which server through which CA is connected to which ETERNUS Disk storage system. If the connection configuration between the server and the ETERNUS Disk storage system is multi-path, depending on the relationship between the multipath driver and the storage system, the configuration can be Primary path/secondary path. When the load balance function is installed, more than one path can be configured. You must be careful to determine if the configuration is multi-path or not when creating the path route table. 39

Chapter 3 System Design > 3.6 Preliminary Server Settings Primary Path and Secondary Path For ETERNUS Disk storage systems with assigned CMs, the path that passes through the controller (CM) assigned to the RAID group that is being accessed is called the Primary Path. Conversely, the Secondary Path is the path that is being kept as a standby for the Primary Path. The procedure to create a path route table is shown below. Procedure 1 Enter the number for the Fibre Channel card that has been mounted on the server in the "Server side" column. Then, under that, put a symbol name (the server/slot name) that indicates which Fibre Channel card is mounted to which server, in which slot. Enter the names in the "Server side" column for multipath configurations. Using the system configuration diagram in "3.1 Checking the System Configuration" (page 16) as an example, enter the number (1), (2), etc. assigned to each slot in the "Server side" column. Enter this information in the table as follows. End of procedure 3.6.2 Create a WWN Instance Management Table for Storage System Fill out the WWN instance management table for the server as a way to keep track and record relevant information about the Fibre Channel cards, if there are multiple Fibre Channel cards mounted in the server. Only input the host name and IP address, items that have already been decided. Parameters that can only be checked when they are set like physical slots, Fibre Channel card WWN, instance names and physical addresses are not entered here. Also, only enter the instance name if you are using the Fibre Channel card such as the GP7B8FC1U/GP7B8FC1X, the PW008FC2U/PW008FC2X, the PW008FC3U, the SE0X7F11F, the SE0X7F12F, the SE0X7F11X, the SE0X7F12X, or the LPxxxx series in a Solaris OS. You do not need to enter the instance name in other environments. 41

Also note that a server-side instance name setting is only needed if the server is using Solaris OS in combination with certain Fibre Channel cards (GP7B8FC1U/GP7B8FC1X, PW008FC2U/PW008FC2X, PW008FC3U, SE0X7F11F, SE0X7F12F, SE0X7F11X, SE0X7F12X, or LPxxxx series). This setting is not otherwise needed. End of procedure This completes the preliminary operations for Fibre Channel switch, server and ETERNUS Disk storage systems setup. 45

Be sure to leave unplugged the cables that will connect to servers on which Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows Server 2003, or Windows Server 2008 will be installed. End of procedure 48

Chapter 4 Fabric Setup > 4.2 Setting up the Fibre Channel Switches 4.2 Setting up the Fibre Channel Switches 4.2.1 Setup Outline The outline for the setup of the Fibre Channel switch is as follows. This setup requires a computer that has an Ethernet interface and a 10BASE-T or 100BASE-T crossover cable. Procedure 1 To be able to do maintenance, connect the Ethernet cable used for maintenance to the Fibre Channel switch, then turn on the Fibre Channel switch. 2 Set the IP address of the maintenance computer. 3 Set the IP address of the Fibre Channel switch (network information). 4 Enter the Fibre Channel switch WWN (World Wide Name) into the Fibre Channel switch settings table. 5 Set the "Switch name" that was entered into the "Fibre Channel switch settings table" for each Fibre Channel switch. 6 Set the "Switch domain ID" that was entered in the "Fibre Channel switch settings table" for each Fibre Channel switch. 7 Connect the Fibre Channel cable in a cascade configuration if you are making a cascade connection between Fibre Channel switches. End of procedure 4.2.2 Setup Procedure Procedure 1 Connect the maintenance Ethernet cable in order to perform settings, then turn on the Fibre Channel switch. 1-1 Connect an Ethernet cable. Maintenance operations require the use of a computer, with an Ethernet interface. Connect the computer to the RJ-45 connector (Ethernet connector) on the front panel of the switch using an Ethernet 10/100BASE-T crossover cable. 49

Chapter 4 Fabric Setup > 4.2 Setting up the Fibre Channel Switches The factory set default address is for the local address only; it cannot be used to connect to the network. If it is connected to the network, it may cause major disruptions. When connecting to the network, be sure to consult with the network administrator and set the address that the network administrator indicates. 1-2 Turn on the Fibre Channel switch. The Fibre Channel switch runs POST automatically after the power is turned on. During phase, the Fibre Channel port LED blinks continuously. 2 Set the IP address of the maintenance computer. To perform Ethernet connections with a Fibre Channel switch and cross cable, change the IP address on the maintenance computer to correspond with the IP address of the Fibre Channel switch (default). (To change, follow the instructions in the computer). 2-1 Start Windows and open the control panel. Click [Settings]-[Control Panel] from [Start] button. 2-2 Click [Network] in the [Control Panel]. 2-3 Select [Network Settings], then select "TCP/IP->*********" in [Current Network Components], and click [Properties]. (The (*********) part is the "TCP/IP protocol LAN controller" for the computer that you are using.) 2-4 Select [IP Address] in [TCP/IP Properties], check [Specify IP Address], and then enter the IP address and the net mask that are assigned to the terminal used for maintenance. Do not assign an IP address that has already been assigned to some other device, like a Fibre Channel switch. 2-5 Click the [OK] button. The "Restart Windows?" message is displayed; click the [Yes] button. The IP address for the maintenance computer has been set when Windows has restarted. Example For the ETERNUS SN200 series, as the default IP address for the Fibre Channel switch is "192.168.30.70", the maintenance computer should be assigned an IP address such as "192.168.30.80". 3 Set the IP address for the Fibre Channel switch (Network Settings). For the ETERNUS SN200 series, the factory set default IP address is as follows; I P address192.168.30.70 Netmask255.255.255.0 50

(2) Execute the following command if the Fibre Channel switch IP address is "192.168.30.70". ping 192.168.30.70 Check the message that is displayed, to check the connection. Enter your login name and password for ETERNUS SN200 at this time. Refer to the User Guide that was provided with the ETERNUS SN200 series for information about the login name and the password. (1) Ethernet IP Address [Current address shown] Enter the new IP Address. If no changes need to be made, press the [Enter] key. (2) Ethernet Subnet mask [Current] Enter the new Subnet mask. If no changes need to be made, press the [Enter] key. (3) Fibre Channel IP Address [Current] These settings do not need to be changed, so press the [Enter] key. 51

(5) Gateway address [Current] Enter the new Gateway address. If no changes need to be made, press the [Enter] key. 4-3 The final prompt asks whether or not to enable the new settings, enter either "y" or "n". If you enter "y", the new IP address will be enabled. Then terminate the telnet session. To reconnect using telnet after changing the IP address, you need to change the IP address that is set in the computer. Example Make changes using the system configuration diagram that was used to create the Fibre Channel switch settings table in "3.1 Checking the System Configuration" (page 16). The following shows "3.3.6 Fibre Channel Switch Settings Table (Example)" (page 26). Set the IP address/gateway address/subnet mask according to the items specified in the shaded areas. The device WWN can be checked by connecting to the Fibre Channel switch with telnet connection. If the IP address was changed in Step 4-2, then connect with telnet to the new IP address. After logging in to connect to telnet, you can check the device WWN by executing the "switchshow" command. The setting uses the "configure" command. However, to execute the "configure" command, the Fibre Channel switch needs to be disabled, so just before you start, execute the "switchdisable" command. Also, after changing the settings with the "configure" command, you need to execute the "switchenable" command. When connecting Fibre Channel switches in a cascade configuration, assign a different switch domain ID for each Fibre Channel switch. Also, even if you are not using a cascade configuration, we recommend that you set different IDs as a preparatory measure for making a cascade configuration in the future. If you connect Fibre Channel switches that have the same switch domain ID in a cascade configuration, the switch domain IDs will be changed automatically, and setting information will become unsynchronized or some other problems may occur, and in the worst case data may be lost. A "Switch domain ID" setting modification example is shown below (the shaded cell). If you have set different zones for the multiple Fibre Channel switches before connecting them in a cascade configuration, the setting information will not be propagated and synchronicity will not be achieved, even if you connect the cascade cable after that. 10 Set the Fibre Channel switch port speed For some Host Bus Adapter (HBA) to Fibre Channel switch connections, the link speed is not operator settable. When connecting such an HBA to a Fibre Channel switch, try setting the connected Fibre Channel switch port to the expected link speed. Use the "portcfgspeed" command to set the connected Fibre Channel switch port. The new speed setting is enabled after the affected port link has been shutdown and restarted. 56

If the Fibre Channel switches are connected in a cascade configuration and you set the zoning for one Fibre Channel switch, the setting information is automatically propagated to the other Fibre Channel switches. So, it is not necessary to duplicate the zone settings for the other Fibre Channel switches. The following shows the complete flow when doing zone settings connected to telnet. (1) Set the alias Set symbol names that are intuitive and easy to understand for each port of each Fibre Channel switch. (2) Set the zones Create the zone using zone members (alias names) set in Step (1). (3) Set the zone configuration Set one configuration for some zones that were created in Step (2). (4) Enable the zone configuration Enable the configuration created in Step (3). A setting example based on the zoning settings table created in "3.4.9 Zoning Settings Table" (page 34) is shown. Alias settings We recommend connecting the Fibre Channel switch cables with cascade connection before setting the zoning. This section explain how to connect the ETERNUS Disk storage systems to the Fibre Channel switch. (1) Create a WWN instance management table for storage system (2) Check the host interface management settings using the ETERNUSmgr 4.4.1 Determining a WWN Instance Management Table for Storage System Enter the information for each Fibre Channel port (CA) of the ETERNUS Disk storage systems that are to be connected to a Fibre Channel switch in the previously created "WWN instance management table for storage system". The information related to the ETERNUS Disk storage systems Fibre Channel ports can be checked using ETERNUSmgr. The items "Alias name" and "T-ID" are necessary to use the WWN bind function for setting the Fibre Channel card on the server. The configuration backup file may be required when a failure, etc. is occurred to replace the Fibre Channel switch. Therefore, it is recommended to backup configuration after setting the Fibre Channel switch. The configuration backup file is transferred from the Fibre Channel switch to the client or the server via FTP. The backup file should be stored in a floppy disk or other device for every Fibre Channel switch.
