WhereScape RED Installation This document is intended for new WhereScape RED customers. It explains how to download RED, install license keys and obtain support if required. WhereScape RED is distributed via the WhereScape website. Some areas of the WhereScape website, including download links, are only accessible to customers using a customer login. Logins are provided or upgraded once RED is purchased. 1) Login and Download Go to the WhereScape internet home page (https://www.wherescape.com) and use the Login button at the top left of the screen to enter your login details (or those provided to you). NOTE: If other RED users register using the Register link please send an email to sales@wherescape.com to notify them that customer access is required. Once logged in to the site go to download page either by navigating the WhereScape site or by following the link: (https://www.wherescape.com/support/download/wherescape-red/) 1.1) Navigating to the download page through the website a) Click on the Support link from the home page to enter the support area. 1
b) Click on the Downloads link c) Click on the Download WhereScape RED link d) Click on the Download Version xxx of RED and save the RED MSI file to a suitable location on the network or C drive. xxx 2
2) WhereScape RED Installation RED can be installed by running the downloaded RED MSI with suitable rights directly on the following machines: Developers PCs Operations Staff PCs (for monitoring and managing workflow jobs) Data Warehouse Administrators PCs (for deployment) Scheduler Server (to run workflow jobs) The installation process will go through an installation wizard that will install the WhereScape RED binaries on that local computer. More detailed installation instructions and pre-requisites can be found in the RED Installation Guide which can be downloaded from this link: https://www.wherescape.com/getattachment/support/documentation/ Installation-Guide.pdf/ Once the installation is complete a license key needs to be entered so that RED can be used on that PC. The license key is entered in the Setup Administrator. The Setup Administrator is started automatically at the end of the installation process or can be started by clicking on the Setup Administrator link in the users Start Menu. a) The license key is entered using the following steps in the Setup Administrator: 1. Click the WhereScape RED License Key icon 2. Enter the key details in the WhereScape RED License Dialog exactly as it is provided above (it is case sensitive). 3. Press OK b) The result should be a Key Validated OK and License saved message: Note: If the key does not validate then there has likely been a problem with copying the key, please try again. If the license is not saved please try running the Setup Administrator as Administrator. 3
3) WhereScape RED Support WhereScape support is provided through the WhereScape forum. The forum is monitored by a dedicated support team and also by consultants around the clock. The forum also provides a way of searching through other users entries to see if a problem has already been reported and/or resolved. The forum is read-only unless you have logged in. The forum can be used to: submit user questions (eg how to do something) report bugs or unexpected behavior request new features or enhancements When a new thread has been added to the forum we will either: Provide an answer Suggest an alternative or work-around. Request more information. The reply will be posted back into the forum and also to the user s email account. We also use this forum as a mechanism to provide important feedback to our developers. The WhereScape forum can be accessed via https://www.wherescape.com/support/forums/ Forums are focused on a specific product, so to search, browse and post new threads regarding RED choose the WhereScape RED forum: 4
Posting a Question / Bug / Request In order to assist the support team whenever a new thread is posted some information regarding the version of RED and the environment is required. This information is detailed in the first thread in the forum titled: What to Post in the RED Forum. Posting a query in more detail: a) Login and enter the WhereScape RED forum. b) Search to see if the question has already been asked by using the search feature: c) Then if nothing looks like it matches your query then post a new thread using the New Thread button: Then fill in your environment details and your query and press OK. Any replies will be posted both to the forum thread and to your email account. 5
