Clarity Install Follow the instructions in this document to install Clarity on a server and workstation. Step 1: Set up the folders Create a new Caselle directory and folders for CSLWIN, CSLDATA, and Clarity. Do this... 1. Create a shared folder with full rights. Label the folder Caselle. 2. Map the Caselle folder on the client machine to the M drive. 3. Open M:\Caselle. Create three folders for CSLWIN, CSLDATA, and CLARITY, with the same shared rights as the Caselle folder. 4. Open M:\Caselle\CSLDATA. Create a folder for BACKUP with the same rights as the Caselle folder. 5. Verify the security file (.dat) is saved in the CSLDATA directory. 6. Place all.mdf and.mdb database files in the CSLDATA directory. 7. Download and install the Microsoft.NET Framework 3.5 Redistributable.
CLARITY PAYROLL 2 8. Run Setup on the Clarity Installation CD.9. Copy the files from C:\Program Files\Caselle Clarity 4 to M:\Clarity folder. 10. Use Windows Explorer to open the Caselle Clarity CD. Run SQLEX- PRWT2008R2_x86_ENU.exe. Step 2: Set up the server Set up the SQL Configuration Manager and SQL Server Management Studio. Set up the SQL Configuration Manager properties 1. Open SQL Server Configuration Manager. 2. Open the SQL Server Network Configuration and select your server s name. Shared Memory, Named Pipes, and TCP/IP should be enabled. 3. Open the SQL Server Services. Verify the State assigned to the SQL Server Browser is Running and the Start Mode is Automatic. 4. Exit the SQL Server Configuration Manager (File > Exit).
Set up the SQL Server Management Studio properties 1. Open SQL Server Management Studio. CLARITY PAYROLL 3 2. Select the server name and click Connect. 3. Right-click on the SQL server name and select Properties. 4. Select Security. Change the Server Authentication to SQL Server andwindows Authentication. 5. Select Database Settings. Set both the Data and Log fields to C:\Caselle\CSL- DATA.
6. Click OK. 7. Click [+] next to Security. Right-click Login and select New Login. CLARITY PAYROLL 4 8. Create a Login Name for Clarity. Use Clarity as the Login Name. Select SQL Server Authentication. Set the Password to Caselle1. Deselect the password requirement fields.
9. Select Server Roles. Select the Sysadmin checkbox. Click OK. CLARITY PAYROLL 5 10. Right-click on the server name and select Restart. (On the Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Console.) Note: Set the firewall to allow access for the following MS SQL applications: SQLSERVR.exe SQLAGENT.exe SQLBROWSER.exe Step 3: Attach Caselle databases Use the Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio to attach the Caselle databases, then update the Start In directory for Clarity applications. Attach Caselle databases 1. Right-click on Databases and select Attach. 2. Click Add. Browse to the CSLDATA directory and double-click the first database. 3. Click to select the log file with the message, Not Found. Click Remove. The Remove button is located at the bottom of the screen. 4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 to attach all of the databases. 5. Click OK. 6. Close the SQL Server Configuration Manager (File > Close). Tip: You may wish to log into SQL Server Management Studio using SQL authentication to verify the new Clarity login.
Update the Start In directory CLARITY PAYROLL 6 1. Right-click on the Caselle Clarity icon located on the desktop. Select Properties. Change the Start In directory to M:\CSLDATA. 2. Click Apply. 3. Click Close. Step 4: Set up Caselle Clarity Set up the configuration file and install the latest program updates. Set up the configuration file 1. Double-click the Caselle Clarity icon located on the desktop. The Create Configuration dialog box displays. 2. Type in the organization name exactly as it appears on the.mdf file in Organization Name and Database Name fields in the CSLDATA directory. Example: If the file name is UM0_AnyCityAN, then the Organization Name is the name that follows the underscore (_), or AnyCityAN. 3. Click the Database Server drop-down list and select the name of your SQL server. Troubleshooting... If the only available server is Local, click the Refresh option. Then, open the drop-down list again. IMPORTANT! Do not select Local as the server name. The application requires the full and complete SQL server name. Example: Server 4. Select SQL Server Authentication. 5. From the Clarity Applications main menu, select System Tools and choose Modify Configuration File. 6. Use the Program Updates Path field to enter the UNC path. The UNC path is the destination directory for downloading Clarity updates. Example: \\Server\Caselle\ Clarity 7. Exit Caselle Clarity (File > Close) to apply the changes to the configuration file. Install program updates 1. Double-click the Caselle Clarity icon located on the desktop. 2. Select System Management. 3. Select Installation and choose Install Program Updates. 4. Click Yes, when the warning displays Caselle Clarity will be closed...
CLARITY PAYROLL 7 5. When the Caselle Clarity Program Update wizard displays, select Install from the Caselle FTP Site. Click Update. Troubleshooting... If you cannot open Caselle Clarity after the program updates have been installed, copy all of the files from M:\Clarity to C:\Program Files\Caselle Clarity 4. Click Yes to replace the existing files. Step 5: Install Caselle Clarity on workstations Install Caselle Clarity on each workstation and update the Start In directory. Install Caselle Clarity on each workstation 1. Insert the Caselle Clarity installation CD into the CDROM drive. 2. Follow the instructions that appear on the screen. IMPORTANT! The SQL Backward Compatibility option must be selected to run the installation wizard. 3. When Clarity applications are installed, update the Caselle Clarity Start In directory. Update the Start In directory 1. Right-click on the Caselle Clarity icon located on the desktop. Select Properties. Change the Start In directory to M:\CSLDATA. 2. Click Apply. 3. Click Close.
