System Configuration Guide Supplementary Notes <General> Hard disk Measurement units of the hard disk capacity are 1GB=1000 3 B and 1TB=1000 4 B. The capacity is less when compared with same capacity figures based on 1GB=1024 3 B and 1TB=1024 4 B. System Clock When stored at a low or high temperature, the system clock may largely deviate from the current time. Use NTP client service to keep computer clock accurate. Supplementary Notes <Flash FDD> Flash FDD Flash FDD is an alternative device of FDD using USB flash drive. This device can be used as boot device without additional driver. Also, automatically recognized by OS as a Floppy disk drive after connecting to USB port since this device supports Plug and Play. *1 *1: Support OS only Flash FDD (N8160-86) overview USB2.0 compliant FDD emulation featuree equipped in the USB Flash drive. Stick type. FD icon/capacity is printed for easy recognition. Capacity: 1.44MB (FAT formatted) *Same as one FD(2HD) Strap hole, Write protect switch. System Configuration Guide Intended uses of FDD substituted by Flas sh FDD Flash FDD can be used instead of FDDD for the following uses. Arrange Flash FDD if needed for your system. Intended use Install Maintenance Manual installation BIOS/FW update Express report service registration Backup software Replacement/repair of Hardware Log collection, etc. Description Installation of Microsoft Windows Server 2003 R2 or previous Windows Server OS Linux OS installation Off line update of BIOS or some firmware Required when the set up Report Service of Express When using disaster recovery option of CA ARCserve Backup on Microsoft Windows Server 2008 or later. When additional driver is needed for Backup Exec Intelligent Disaster Recovery option or disaster recovery of NetVault. Backup/restore of HW information (Serial Number, etc.) when replacement or repair of Hardware. System event log/system information collection when offline Notes Create Windows OS OEM-Disk Not required for Windows Server 2008 or later Depends on the distribution Not required for the current models, because those support update by CD/DVD and online update. Not required on Windows Server 2003/2003 R2 Not required when there is no additional driver Not required for the current models When online, ESMPRO tool can collect System Event Log (SEL).
