Honeywell OneWireless Network and Multinode Specifications EP03-610-100 1 November 2007 Honeywell s OneWireless Network is a universal and multi-functional wireless mesh network that supports field I/O, actuators and wireless-enabled applications within a single network to optimize plant productivity and reliability, improve safety, and ensure regulatory compliance. This network delivers a global solution with robust security, predictable power management, and multi-speed monitoring that also supports Honeywell s XYR 5000 and XYR 6000 wireless transmitters, along with 802.11-based applications. OneWireless delivers real economic value beyond avoiding wiring costs. Most wireless solutions provide a return on investment within 6-months and keep delivering financial benefits year after year in increased productivity. And, we protect your investment by integrating emerging wireless standards. The breakthrough of this wireless solution lies in the ability to integrate valuable data into our existing control systems and advanced applications so that it becomes actionable knowledge for you, our end-user. Additionally, our systems utilize open interfaces that enable sharing of data with other networked applications. For example, more data available to Honeywell s Profit Suite applications allows users to reduce sensor installation, maintenance, and energy costs. Network Architecture The next generation wireless network is formed by multinodes, a rugged industrial transmitter access point/802.11 access point/gateway/mesh-bridge node which is intended for use in industrial and external environments. It accommodates 802.11a/b/g WLAN access and features two Ethernet cables for optional connection to third party devices and/or wired network connectivity as well as prewired power cabling to accommodate an external 24 VDC supply in a Class 1, Div 2 hazardous environment. The wireless LANs can include mobile devices such as handheld Personal Data Assistants (PDAs), mobile web pads, and wireless laptops. If encryption is desired for the WLAN, you can employ different encryption depending on the mode you are in. You can select None, Static WEP, WPA, or WPA2. WPA uses TKIP or AES-CCMP so you can employ legacy client WEP cards and still secure the wireless band. The OneWireless network is formed with wireless infrastructure nodes (multinodes) that can use both wired and wireless media to form a mesh. This unique feature allows users to connect from inside a metal building to the outside. The mesh can be extended with a simple wire through the wall. Our flexible and open infrastructure allows manufacturers to take advantage of new and innovative applications as they arise.

OneWireless Network and Multinode Specifications 2 Network Architecture Features and Specifications Self configuring, self-healing mesh network Integrated multi-functional 802.11 mesh network supporting 802.11-based and field I/O (sensor and actuator devices), including existing XYR 5000 transmitters Supports both wireless and wired media to form the mesh network. Honeywell s mesh network supports up to 12 multinodes where any or all of the multinodes can also be gateways between the wired and wireless network 1 Supports industrial device transmitters publishing at varied rates from 1 to 30 seconds 80 (maximum) industrial field I/O transmitters (sensor or actuator devices) per Gateway o Up to 20 leaf nodes per multinode at 1 second reporting rate Wireless Features Multiple radio frequencies are supported: 54 Mbps 802.11a for access point and/or mesh bridge 11 Mbps 802.11b for access point and/or mesh bridge 54 Mbps 802.11g for access point and/or mesh bridge Operation mode (user configurable) Access Point On/Off selection Mesh Bridge (Repeater) On/Off Selection FHSS Industrial Device Transmitter On/Off Selection Mutlinode Hardware Specification Multinode requires 24 VDC +10% - 15% at 25 Watts Weight: 7.0 lbs 9.25 x 8.25 x 3.00 base unit (not including antennas) o Up to 80 leaf nodes per multinode at greater than 1 second reporting rate Up to 2 Mobile Stations per gateway (500 parameters per Mobile Station graphic is considered typical) with total load not to exceed Experion PKS pps limit & Network throughput limit guidelines Up to 5 IntelaTrac PKS handhelds per gateway with total load not to exceed established IntelaTrac pps limits & Network throughput limit guidelines 2000 pps per gateway Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) slot structure for coordinating communications Supports on demand reads within 5 seconds regardless of the reporting period of the device. Channel number allocation configuration o Fixed o Automatic select (optimum) Load balancing of wireless clients Message prioritization (QoS quality of service) of wireless traffic Modbus TCP Interface for communication with thirdparty applications and systems OPC DA 1.0 & 2.05 interface for data communication with third-party applications and systems OPC AE 1.0 interface for alarm and event message communication with third-party applications and systems 1 The stated system capacities are the system design capacities; actual tested and supported capacities may change with the final product release. These capacities are also expected to expand over product release cycles.
