Honeywell OneWireless Network and Multinode Specifications EP03-610-100 1 November 2007 Honeywell s OneWireless Network is a universal and multi-functional wireless mesh network that supports field I/O, actuators and wireless-enabled applications within a single network to optimize plant productivity and reliability, improve safety, and ensure regulatory compliance. This network delivers a global solution with robust security, predictable power management, and multi-speed monitoring that also supports Honeywell s XYR 5000 and XYR 6000 wireless transmitters, along with 802.11-based applications. OneWireless delivers real economic value beyond avoiding wiring costs. Most wireless solutions provide a return on investment within 6-months and keep delivering financial benefits year after year in increased productivity. And, we protect your investment by integrating emerging wireless standards. The breakthrough of this wireless solution lies in the ability to integrate valuable data into our existing control systems and advanced applications so that it becomes actionable knowledge for you, our end-user. Additionally, our systems utilize open interfaces that enable sharing of data with other networked applications. For example, more data available to Honeywell s Profit Suite applications allows users to reduce sensor installation, maintenance, and energy costs. Network Architecture The next generation wireless network is formed by multinodes, a rugged industrial transmitter access point/802.11 access point/gateway/mesh-bridge node which is intended for use in industrial and external environments. It accommodates 802.11a/b/g WLAN access and features two Ethernet cables for optional connection to third party devices and/or wired network connectivity as well as prewired power cabling to accommodate an external 24 VDC supply in a Class 1, Div 2 hazardous environment. The wireless LANs can include mobile devices such as handheld Personal Data Assistants (PDAs), mobile web pads, and wireless laptops. If encryption is desired for the WLAN, you can employ different encryption depending on the mode you are in. You can select None, Static WEP, WPA, or WPA2. WPA uses TKIP or AES-CCMP so you can employ legacy client WEP cards and still secure the wireless band. The OneWireless network is formed with wireless infrastructure nodes (multinodes) that can use both wired and wireless media to form a mesh. This unique feature allows users to connect from inside a metal building to the outside. The mesh can be extended with a simple wire through the wall. Our flexible and open infrastructure allows manufacturers to take advantage of new and innovative applications as they arise.
