What is the Avigiln Cntrl Center Server? The Avigiln Cntrl Center Server sftware is the applicatin that captures and recrds surveillance data frm netwrk cameras and encders. The captured data is then sent t the Avigiln Cntrl Center Client sftware fr yu t review. The Avigiln Cntrl Center Server sftware cntains tw key parts the Windws service and the Admin Tl. The Windws service directs vide t where it needs t be stred r streamed in the netwrk. The Admin Tl is allws yu t cnfigure the system administrative settings. There are three editins f the Server sftware available: Cre, Standard and Enterprise. The editin f the Server sftware determines hw many cameras can be cnnected t the system and the number f simultaneus client cnnectins. The editin f the Server sftware als determines what features are available in the Avigiln Cntrl Center Client sftware. Getting Started The Avigiln Cntrl Center Server sftware cntains tw parts: the Windws service and the Admin Tl. The Windws service runs autmatically when yur cmputer starts. The Admin Tl is used t cnfigure the Windws service. Frm the Admin Tl yu can add licenses, define the netwrk, and cnfigure the backup and strage settings fr the Avigiln Cntrl Center System. Windws Service The Avigiln Cntrl Center Server sftware includes a Windws service that runs autmatically in the backgrund. If required, yu can cnfigure the service prperties in the Services windw. Frm the Admin Tl, yu can cnfigure the size f the surveillance data strage space, the file backup lcatin, the licenses fr the system, and netwrk prts. Getting Started 7
Accessing the Admin Tl The Admin Tl can be accessed in the fllwing ways: Frm the Start menu, select All Prgrams r All Apps > Avigiln > Avigiln Cntrl Center Server > Admin Tl Duble-click the shrtcut icn n the desktp. Admin Tl Windw Frm the Admin Tl, yu can start up r shut dwn the Avigiln Cntrl Center Server at any time. Fr mre infrmatin, see Starting Up and Shutting Dwn n page 16. The Admin Tl windw cntains tw tabs: the General tab and the Settings tab. The fllwing tables describe what ptins are available in each tab. General Feature Descriptin Click this buttn t launch the Avigiln Cntrl Center Client sftware. Click this buttn t view the Avigiln Cntrl Center Server errr lgs. System Settings Cmplete the fllwing prcedures t cnfigure the Avigiln Cntrl Center Server t fit yur requirements. Licensing the AvigilnCntrl Center (ACC) 5 Server After the ACC Server 5 sftware has been installed, yu must apply yur sftware license t the applicatin r the ACC Server will nt run. Yur server can be licensed fr the Cre, Standard r Enterprise editin. If yu are running the Enterprise editin, this prcedure is als used t add integratin licenses. NOTE: If yu are installing and licensing the ACC 6 server sftware, refer t the sectin abut licensing in the ACC Client User Guide fr yur editin. Accessing the Server Licensing Settings In the Admin Tl, select Settings >. The License Activatin dialg bx is displayed and shws the server's license editin and ptinal license features. The Server ID: is unique t each server running the Avigiln Cntrl Center sftware. If yu need help licensing the sftware, call Avigiln Technical Supprt and give them the Server ID: number. If yu need t upgrade yur server hardware, yu can disable the license n the current server and reuse the license n the new server. Fr mre infrmatin, see Deactivating Licenses. Activating a License Over the Internet If yu have internet access, the Admin Tl will cnnect t the internet autmatically and help yu activate yur license. 1. In the Admin Tl, select Settings >. 2. In the License Activatin dialg bx, click. 3. If an internet cnnectin was detected, click Internet Activatin (Recmmended). If an internet cnnectin was nt detected, see Activating a License Manually n the next page. 4. Enter the prduct key. A check mark will appear if the key is valid. If yu have multiple prduct keys, click [[[Undefined variable UI_ACC.LicensrAdditinalId]]] and enter the next prduct key. When all the licenses fr this server have been added, click Next. 5. Cmplete the Prduct Registratin page t receive prduct updates frm Avigiln, then click Next. The Admin Tl cnnects t the Avigiln licensing server and activates the license. 6. When the Activatin Succeeded message appears, click Finish. Activating a License Manually If yur server des nt have internet access, yu can activate yur license manually by dwnlading the license file and activating the license n a cmputer with internet access. 1. In the Admin Tl, select Settings >. 2. In the License Activatin dialg bx, click. 3. If an internet cnnectin was nt detected, click Manual Activatin (Recmmended). 4. Click [[[Undefined variable UI_ACC.LicensrExprtKeyButtnTitle]]]. 5. Enter the prduct key. A check mark will appear if the key is valid. If yu have multiple prduct keys, click [[[Undefined variable UI_ACC.LicensrAdditinalId]]] and enter the next prduct key. 6. When all the licenses fr this server have been added, click Next. 7. Click [...] t select where yu want t save the activatin file that is generated by the system fr manual activatin. Yu can als rename the activatin file. 8. Click Next. The activatin file is saved. 9. Cpy the saved activatin file t a cmputer with internet access. Activating a License Manually 10

The activated license file shuld dwnlad autmatically. If it des nt, allw the dwnlad t ccur when yu are prmpted. 12. Return t the [[[Undefined variable UI_ACC.AdminPanelLicensingManualTitle]]] wizard and click Next until yu are able t click Step 2: Add License File. 15. Click [...] t lcate the license file then click Next. 16. When the Activatin Succeeded message appears, click Finish. Cnfiguring the Server Strage Settings Yu must cnfigure the server strage settings s the Avigiln Cntrl Center Server sftware knws hw much space is allcated fr string surveillance data, and where it is lcated. If the Admin Tl detects that there is n existing strage cnfiguratin, it will launch the Set Up Strage Cnfiguratin dialg bx. Cnfiguring the Server Strage Settings 12
Accessing the Server Strage Cnfiguratin 1. In the Admin Tl, click Shut Dwn. The Avigiln Cntrl Center Server must be shut dwn befre the strage cnfiguratin can be viewed r edited. 2. In the Settings tab, click. 3. In the Strage dialg bx, yu can see the current strage cnfiguratin. Setting Up the Initial Server Strage Cnfiguratin When the Admin Tl detects that there is n existing strage cnfiguratin, it will launch the Set Up Strage Cnfiguratin dialg bx with the recmmended strage cnfiguratin. By default the sftware will assign mst f the available strage t the Primary Data Vlume fr string recrded vide. If the recmmended cnfiguratin is acceptable, click Finish If yu want t change the cnfiguratin click Change Strage Cnfiguratin. Fr mre infrmatin, see Changing the Strage Cnfiguratin belw. Changing the Strage Cnfiguratin Yu may need t change the strage cnfiguratin in the fllwing situatins: If yu are unsatisfied with the strage cnfiguratin suggested by the applicatin, click Change Strage Cnfiguratin t define the strage settings t fit yur needs. If yu recently chse t Erase All Data, yu must reset the Strage cnfiguratin befre yu can cntinue. Cmplete the fllwing prcedure in the Strage dialg bx: If the Strage dialg bx is nt already pen, see Accessing the Server Strage Cnfiguratin abve Accessing the Server Strage Cnfiguratin 13
1. In the Strage dialg bx, select the drive fr string the Cnfig Vlume and click Set Cnfig Vlume. Figure 4: The Strage dialg bx NOTE: Sme f the buttns in the figure may nt be available if the drive cannt accmmdate the setting. 2. T add a data vlume, select the drive and click Add Data Vlume... The buttn is nt available if the drive already has a data vlume. a. In the Add Data Vlume dialg bx, enter the preferred data vlume size b. Click OK. 3. T delete a Secndary Data Vlume, select the drive and click Delete Data Vlume. Deleting a data vlume will erase all recrded data frm that drive. NOTE: Yu cannt delete a Primary Data Vlume, yu can nly erase all data.fr mre infrmatin, see Erasing the Strage Cnfiguratin belw. 4. If yu are nt satisfied with the lcatin f the Primary Data Vlume, select the drive yu prefer and click Set Primary Data Vlume. The Primary Data Vlume cntains the database that indexes the surveillance data. NOTE: The drive must have a data vlume befre it can be set as the Primary Data Vlume. 5. When yu are satisfied with the strage cnfiguratin, click OK. Erasing the Strage Cnfiguratin NOTE: If yu chse t erase all stred data, be aware that all recrded surveillance data and server settings will be lst. Erasing the Strage Cnfiguratin 14
1. Open the Strage dialg bx. Fr mre infrmatin, see Accessing the Server Strage Cnfiguratin n page 13. 2. Click Erase All Data. 3. When the cnfirmatin dialg bx appears, click Yes. 4. Yu will need t create a new strage cnfiguratin befre yu can start up the Avigiln Cntrl Center Server again. Fr mre infrmatin, see Changing the Strage Cnfiguratin n page 13. Cnfiguring the Server Backup Settings T allw the system t autmatically back up recrded vide, yu must enable Archive n the Admin Tl and assign a backup lcatin fr the backup files. 1. In the Admin Tl, select Settings >. 2. In the Archive dialg bx, select the Enable Archive check bx t allw the server t back up vide files. 3. Enter a lcatin fr the Archive Flder:. Click [...] t navigate t the backup flder lcatin. 4. Click OK. T initiate a backup r set up autmatic backups, see The Avigiln Cntrl Center Client User Guide. Cnfiguring the Server Netwrk Settings The server cmmunicates with the Avigiln Cntrl Center Client sftware thrugh a range f UDP and TCP prts. The prt ranges nly need t be changed if the Client sftware is trying t access tw r mre servers that are behind the same NAT device (e.g. ruter), r if there is a prt cnflict with ther sftware running n the same cmputer as the Avigiln Cntrl Center Server sftware. 1. In the Admin Tl, select Settings >. 2. In the Netwrk dialg bx, enter a new base prt then click OK. The service prts used by the Server sftware are updated as the base prt changes. The RTP prt range must be accessible by the Client cmputer and can be frwarded n any ruter r netwrk address translatin pint between the Client and Server. Cnfiguring the Server Backup Settings 15
Using the Admin Tl In additin t cnfiguring the server, the Admin Tl can als be used t start up and shut dwn the Avigiln Cntrl Center Server sftware, launch the Client sftware, and display the Applicatin Lgs. Starting Up and Shutting Dwn The Avigiln Cntrl Center Server sftware autmatically starts when Windws starts, but it can be manually shut dwn and started thrugh the Admin Tl. Starting Up the Server Sftware In the Admin Tl, click Start Up. When the Avigiln Cntrl Center Server has started prperly, the Admin Tl displays this message: Cntrl Center Server is Running. Shutting Dwn the Server Sftware When the Avigiln Cntrl Center Server is shut dwn, all vide recrding is stpped until the Avigiln Cntrl Center Server is started again. In the Admin Tl, click Shut Dwn. When the Avigiln Cntrl Center Server has shut dwn prperly, the Admin Tl displays this message: Cntrl Center Server is Nt Running. Starting the Avigiln Cntrl Center Client The Avigiln Cntrl Center Client sftware can be launched frm the Admin Tl. In the Admin Tl, select General >. If the Client sftware is nt installed, the Admin Tl will prmpt yu t install it. Viewing Applicatin Lgs Yu can view the Avigiln Cntrl Center applicatin errr lgs thrugh the Admin Tl. This can assist in diagnsing prblems with yur system. Using the Admin Tl 16

Appendix Resetting the Administratr Passwrd T reset the administratr passwrd fr accessing the Avigiln Cntrl Center Client, yu must delete all existing user and grup accunt infrmatin frm the server Cnfig Vlume. Tip: Yu can avid this prcedure if yu have a user accunt that has all the same permissins as an administratr. Yu can use this user accunt t reset the administratr passwrd in the Avigiln Cntrl Center Client sftware. 1. In the Admin Tl, click Shut Dwn. If yu have multiple servers in yur site, yu need t shut dwn all the servers in yur site. 2. Select Settings >. 3. In the Strage dialg bx, make nte f the drive that hlds the Cnfig Vlume. 4. Access the Cnfig Vlume drive and navigate t the AvigilnCnfig\Db\DirectryShared\Users flder. Fr example, D:\AvigilnCnfig\Db\DirectryShared\Users. 5. Delete all the files in this flder. If yu have multiple servers in yur site, yu need t delete this flder frm every server in yur site befre yu d the last step. The server autmatically resets all the user and grup settings back t the factry default. 6. In the Admin Tl, click Start Up. Repeat fr each server in yur site. Once all the servers have cme back nline, yu can lg int the site using the default administratr credentials: User Name: administratr Passwrd: <leave blank> T add users and grups t the server, see The Avigiln Cntrl Center Client User Guide.
