About Dell Connections License Manager Dell Connections License Manager (DCLM) is used for managing licenses and the licensable features provided in Dell Connections products. You can use Dell Connections licenses to enable server management capabilities and integrations such as out-of-band monitoring in the Dell OpenManage Connections and Integrations suite of products. You can purchase and download the licenses from the Dell support site at dell.com/support/retail/lkm. With Connections License Manager, you can: Import licenses. View and manage license information, such as feature description, expiration details, and so on. Export licenses. Delete licenses. NOTE: This document contains information about the prerequisites and supported software necessary for installing Dell Connections License Manager. Before installing this version of Dell Connections License Manager, download the latest document from dell.com/support/manuals. For more information on accessing documents, see Accessing Documents From The Dell Support Site. System Requirements For setting up Connections License Manager, ensure that the following system requirements are met: Table 1. Setting Up Dell Connections License Manager This section provides information about setting up Connections License Manager. Prerequisites Setting Up Connections License Manager Database On A Remote SQL Server Installing Connections License Manager Prerequisites Before you install Connections License Manager, check for System Requirements and also confirm that you have privileges to create groups in the domain. If you are installing the product, then ensure that you have database administrative privileges to create the database, user account, or both. Setting Up Connections License Manager Database On A Remote SQL Server Before setting up the Connections License Manager database on the remote system, ensure that these prerequisites are complete: Network communication between the Connections License Manager system and the remote system is functioning. SQL server permissions to back up, create, and configure databases are available. Windows Trusted Authentication is enabled in SQL Server. Downloading And Installing Connections License Manager Before you download and install Connections License Manager, check for System Requirements and also confirm that you have privileges to create groups in the domain. Ensure that you have database administrative privileges to create the database, user account, or both. To download and install Connections License Manager: 1. From support.dell.com, download the Connections License Manager executable file to a desired location. 2. Extract the executable file. The following files are extracted: Dell_Connections_License_Manager_x86_x64.exe Readme Installation Guide 3. Double-click Dell_Connections_License_Manager_x86_x64.exe. 4. In the Connections License Manager welcome screen, click Next. 5. In the License Agreement screen, to continue the installation, read the license terms, select I accept the terms in the license agreement, and then click Next. 5

6. In the SQL Connection screen, provide the SQL Database server name in the SQL Server name field, and then click Next. If you are configuring database on a remote server, then see Setting Up Connections License Manager Database On A Remote SQL Server. NOTE: Dynamic licenses are not supported by the DCLM 1.0 schema. During this installation, dynamic licenses associated with the DCLM 1.0 schema are removed. Reimport the dynamic licenses after the installation is complete. 7. In the Destination Folder screen, perform any one of the following steps: To install in the default location, click Next. To change the installation folder, click Change, go to the new location, and then click Next. 8. In the Ready to Install the Program screen, click Install. 9. After the installation is complete, click Finish. NOTE: During the installation, the installer creates the Connections License Manager domain groups in the Windows Server Active Directory. If the domain groups are not created, then you may not have permissions to create them. For information about creating domain groups, see Creating Connections License Manager User Groups. For information about user roles, see User Roles For Connections License Manager. Upgrading Connections License Manager During the installation of Connections License Manager 1.1, you will be prompted to upgrade if Connections License Manager 1.0 is already installed on the system. To upgrade to Connections License Manager 1.1: 1. Navigate to the folder where you have extracted Connections License Manager 1.1, double-click Dell_Connections_License_Manager_x86_x64.exe. A dialog box is displayed requesting you to back up the dynamic licences. To back up dynamic license files, see Backing Up Dynamic License Files. If you do not have any dynamic license files, proceed to the next step. 2. Click OK. NOTE: Ensure that you are not accessing the Connections License Manager 1.0 installation folder. Example: C:\Program Files\Dell Connections License Manager\1.0 3. Click Yes to proceed with the upgrade or No to abort the process. 4. In the Resuming the InstallShield Wizard for Dell Connections License Manager screen, click Next. 5. After the installation is complete, click Finish. The Connections License Manager 1.0 has successfully upgraded to Connections License Manager 1.1. Backing Up Dynamic License Files To back up the dynamic license files during an upgrade: 1. Log in to Connections License Manager with DLCM Administrator or DCLM Operator privilege. 2. Select the dynamic licenses you want to back up, and then click Export. 6

3. In the File Download screen, click Save. 4. In the Save As screen, navigate to the location where you want to save the licenses and click Save. The dynamic licenses are now backed up. Repairing Connections License Manager To repair a Connections License Manager installation: 1. Double-click Dell_Connections_License_Manager_x86_x64.exe. 2. In the Connections License Manager welcome screen, click Next. 3. In the Program Maintenance screen, select Repair, and then click Next. 4. In the Ready to Repair the Program screen, click Install. 5. In the InstallShield Wizard Completed screen, click Finish. Uninstalling Connections License Manager From Windows Control Panel To uninstall Connections License Manager: 1. From the Windows Desktop, select Start Control Panel. 2. Under Programs, click Uninstall a program. 3. In Programs and Features, right-click Dell Connections License Manager, and then click Uninstall. 4. In the Database Retention screen, click Yes if you want to retain the database or No if you do not want to retain the database. 5. In the confirmation message, click Yes. Connections License Manager is successfully uninstalled from the system. NOTE: Uninstallation of Connections License Manager does not remove the user groups such as Dell Connections License Administrators, Dell Connections License Operators, and Dell Connections License Users that were created in the Active Directory during installation. To uninstall these user groups, see Deleting Connections License Manager User Groups. Uninstalling Connections License Manager Using Executable File To uninstall Connections License Manager: 1. Double-click Dell_Connections_License_Manager_x86_x64.exe. 2. In the Connections License Manager Welcome screen, click Next. 3. In the Program Maintenance screen, click Remove, and then click Next. 4. In the Remove the Program screen, click Remove. 5. In the Database Retention screen, click Yes if you want to retain the database or No if you do not want to retain the database. 7

6. In the InstallShield Wizard Completed screen, click Finish. Connections License Manager is successfully uninstalled from the system. NOTE: Uninstallation of Connections License Manager does not remove the user groups such as Dell Connections License Administrators, Dell Connections License Operators, and Dell Connections License Users that were created in the Active Directory during installation. To uninstall these user groups, see Deleting Connections License Manager User Groups. Creating Connections License Manager User Groups You can create only one user group at a time. To create Connections License Manager user groups: 1. Log in to the active directory with Domain Administrator privilege. 2. To open Active Directory Users and Computers, click Start, and then type dsa.msc. 3. In the console tree, right-click Users, and then select New Group. The New Object - Group window is displayed. 4. In the Group name field, enter any one of the following group names: Dell Connections License Administrators Dell Connections License Operators Dell Connections License Users 5. Click OK. NOTE: Ensure that Global is selected in the Group scope field and Security is selected in the Group type field. The user group is created. 6. Repeat steps 3 to 5 to create the other two user groups. Deleting Connections License Manager User Groups To delete Connections License Manager user groups: 1. Log in to the active directory with Domain Administrator privilege. 2. To open Active Directory Users and Computers, click Start, and then type dsa.msc. 3. In the console tree, click Users. 4. In the Details pane, right-click each of the following user groups, and then click Delete. Dell Connections License Administrators Dell Connections License Operators Dell Connections License Users User Roles For Connections License Manager The roles and privileges for the Connections License Manager users are controlled using Active Directory authentication. The Active Directory group to which you are assigned determines the privileges for the various operations on the licenses. The role-based security provided in Connections License Manager are: Administrator: Can perform all operations. Operator: Can access operations other than deleting licenses. 8

User: Can only request for a license. Applications that use the licenses are added to license users group. Get license is applicable only for applications to obtain licenses for the features.
