1 Introduction Verint has certified the hardware for Nextiva Workstation and Server applications on the Dell platform. Verint supplies Dell systems fully staged and configured with the relevant operating system and third-party applications, as well as with all relevant Nextiva Workstation and Server components installed and ready to be configured for your deployment. The Verint-Supplied Equipment Guide for Nextiva Enterprise provides detailed specifications and part numbers for Dell systems supplied by Verint. This information is detailed for all currently supported Nextiva software release-levels: 5.1, 6.0, and 6.1. The Verint-Supplied Equipment Guide for Nextiva Enterprise complements the Customer-Furnished Equipment Guide for Nextiva Enterprise and the Nextiva System Planning Guide. The Customer-Furnished Equipment Guide for Nextiva Enterprise provides hardware and software specifications for Nextiva Workstation and Server applications; this document guides customers who will be furnishing their own workstation and server hardware platforms for their Nextiva deployment. The Nextiva System Planning Guide includes system and site information required for connectivity and operation of Nextiva components. Basic Requirements Having the correct equipment on hand helps ensure a successful Nextiva deployment. Each Nextiva platform and sub-system is comprised of several layers, including the following: Hardware: Either Verint-supplied or customer-furnished hardware Operating system: Depending upon your Nextiva deployment and Nextiva software release-level (5.1, 6.0, or 6.1), you will need valid licenses for either the English US or French (supported by Nextiva Review, Control Center, and Surveillance Analytics) versions of the supported Microsoft Windows operating systems. Verint provides all relevant Microsoft license - including Operating System, Microsoft SQL, and MOM licenses - with Dell systems purchased through Verint. For more information, refer to the Nextiva System Planning Guide. Note: Supported Service Pack levels must be installed on the operating system prior to installing any Nextiva components. Verint software: You will need licenses for Nextiva workstation and server applications. Verint provides all relevant Verint software licenses - including Nextiva Server and Workstation licenses - with Dell systems purchased through Verint. For more information, refer to the Nextiva System Planning Guide. External storage devices for long-term video storage. Ethernet switches to connect the Nextiva deployment to the network. 2 Nextiva Workstation Applications Nextiva Workstations host the following Nextiva platforms: Nextiva Review - The client application used to stream live and recorded video and perform other operator functions. Nextiva Control Center - The client application used to configure and manage the Nextiva system, as well as to monitor the Nextiva system using HealthCheck. Nextiva Surveillance Analytics - The client applications needed to set up, configure, optimize, and operate Nextiva Surveillance Analytics. Applications include Analytics Rule Builder, Object Sizing Assistant, Analytics Engine Configurator, and Scene Optimizer. Nextiva Client SDK - An application programming interface for integrating external applications to Nextiva. 5 Ethernet Switches If multicast is required for your network, please note that most out-of-the-box Ethernet switches are not configured to properly support it. When choosing an Ethernet switch, it is important to ensure the switch can support IGMP (Internet Group Multicast Protocol) snooping version 2. It is also important to remember that an IGMP querier is needed in each virtual local area network (VLAN). IGMP Query is normally supported by routers or high-end layer-3 switches. IGMP is a session-layer (IP, layer-3) protocol used to establish membership in a multicast group. There are three versions of IGMP, with version 2 being the most widely used. Nextiva supports version 2. Using multicast in an improperly-configured network or over a network that does not support multicast will result in a multicast flood. Flooding can also occur if the IGMP querier loses power or drops its network connection. Multicast traffic is blocked by most firewalls, VPN, and Internet routers; therefore multicast is generally applicable only to private networks. Multicast can be routed across multiple subnets using multicast routers supporting PIM (Protocol Independent Multicast). Nextiva supports both. PIM is the recommended multicast routing protocol.
