Siemens SISTORE AX Digital Recorder. SISTORE AX is a non-pc based cost-effective, stand-alone digital recorder, specifically designed for use with security CCTV video management. It brings all the advantages of digital recording - no messing about with tapes, their associated costs and problems, as well as maintenance of the recording device itself - in a single, simple-to-install and simple-to-use, box. Most importantly, digital recording gives a far superior performance over analogue recording, delivering high quality images for viewing virtually instantly without having to search the magnetic tape of conventional video cassettes. With digital recording, images also do not degrade - no matter how many times they are copied. And, it gives perfect 'picture pause', with no distortion or flicker (thus making images easier to scrutinise) - as well as completely removing the nightmare scenario of possible torn videotape when using 'fastforward' or 'rewind'. 3
Digital video multiplexing, recording, transmission and A reliable, low-maintenance and versatile system, SISTORE AX combines fast recording with a great deal of functionality. It offers installers and end-users alike, the benefits of a flexible, entry-level multiplexer with Siemens technology in a product specifically developed for smaller applications. Images from all cameras are recorded sequentially at high speed. SISTORE AX then stores the images on its internal hard disk - thus eliminating the need for any conventional videotape recorders. Operators have the choice of displaying images from a single camera full-screen or images from several cameras at a reduced size. SISTORE AX also offers a sophisticated built-in activity detection that can be programmed to increase the recording rate during times that motion is detected. This provides a higher speed recording of scenes that may be more important for security purposes. A flexible time-lapse recording schedule means rather than one fixed speed recording for a whole day, two recording schedules can be setup. For example, during the day, recording could be at one speed and during night time, a different recording speed could be used, allowing the user to record at the speed they want, when they want. Up to one month's recording - in a single unit With a great compression algorithm, creating small file sizes, even the entry level four camera unit SISTORE AX4 can record continuously for up to one month at the equivalent of 4 hour time-lapse mode S-VHS quality, giving quick and simple access to stored images. Tampering with stored data (either single images or sequences) is protected against because all recordings have a digital signature applied at source, encrypting them with time/date/unit markings so that every recorded image can be verified. These digitally encrypted images can be copied as industry-standard JPEG or AVI files to any workstation on the network or written to an external CD writer or other PCcompatible, external archiving medium - to be reviewed by any interested party (such as the police), on a standard PC - without the need to invest in specialist CCTV equipment. Operation Operation of the SISTORE AX is simplicity itself. With the external appearance of a conventional recorder or multiplexer, the SISTORE AX is controlled by the operator manually, or remotely to access high quality recorded images at the touch of a button or via powerful GOTO and event preview facilities. The simplicity of operation of the user-friendly interface and the automatic setup features also help to minimise installation and operator-training costs. Providing video multiplexing, digital video recording, remote viewing and audio recording, SISTORE AX really does make digital technology viable for many smaller applications - such as banks, petrol stations and other small retail outlets - wherever a dedicated CCTV recording system is required in a single, affordable package. Integral front panel telemetry controls for pan-tilt-zoom & presets 4
audio recording in a single box. SISTORE AX can also connect to Siemens telemetry products such as speed domes and pan-tilt cameras. The front panel keyboard allows full telemetry control, including pan and tilt functions, presets, zoom and focus. Instead of telemetry control, the same port on the SISTORE AX can also be connected to a "text insert" transaction device, such as an ATM/cash dispenser, or cash register overlaying the transaction details over the video. Recording SISTORE AX provides uninterrupted, digital recording of high quality images in real-time, live multiple display formats, and simultaneous record, background image archiving, multiple user network viewing and playback. With built-in activity detection, the unit also is capable of event or time-lapse recording. Features: Cost-effective, entry-level solution for smaller applications Digital image quality Built-in activity detection Instant access to high quality recorded images at the touch of a button Automatic digital time/date marking of all recorded images No more video tapes to buy / change / manage / archive Record up to one month's activity in a single box Quick and simple to install and operate Easy-to-use front panel Image sequences can be copied to an external CD writer or hard disk or other USB archive medium. All images are recorded with digital time, date and unit signature. The SISTORE AX can be programmed to define the maximum period for time-lapse recordings to be stored before being overwritten - for example, once the unit has recorded 31 days of images, it will then begin to re-write over the oldest image. 5

Remote viewing SISTORE AX provides various options for remote viewing: In networked applications, SISTORE AX uses standard Ethernet connection (10baseT or 100baseT) to provide remote viewing facilities either via LAN or WAN including xdsl. In the event of an alarm condition, SISTORE AX can provide a direct link to the remote viewing software, toallow immediate access to the images over the network. The included RemoteView software can simultaneously connect to up to 16 SISTORE AX units allowing very flexible network configurations. Audio recording SISTORE AX also provides the facility for audio recording of a single audio channel in real time. When recorded with images from one particular camera, the audio recording can be played from the unit via external speakers (not supplied), copied across the network, or written to external audio archive media. SISTORE AX Search Allows the remote search and playback for recorded images. Where there is no PC network available, SISTORE AX can use either external ISDN terminal adaptor or PSTN modem (some models include this inside the unit) to allow the operator to dial-in and view the images at any time with the use of a standard telephone or ISDN line. SISTORE AX Player Allows the playback of images once the encryption has been verified. 6
