What is the SV-32 The SV-32 is a compact-sized network security appliance that comes pre-installed with Genetec s Security Center and Windows Embedded Standard 7. What is included in the SV-32 kit The SV-32 kit contains the following: SV-32 appliance 12V DC power supply 1x North American power cord 1x EU and 1x UK power cords (supplied with European orders only) HDMI to DVI adapter 3.5mm to RCA audio cable 12V DC power cable with pigtail Two mounting brackets IMPORTANT Verify the content of the box. Before you install Before you install This section describes the things you need to know and do before you install the product. Keep product packaging It is best practice to keep the product packaging in case you have to return the product. Hardware requirements To use the SV-32, you need the following items: Ethernet connection Display monitor with a DVI, HDMI, or DisplayPort input and DVI, HDMI, or DisplayPort cable USB keyboard USB mouse Site requirements Prepare the site as follows: Provide adequate ventilation. The SV-32 does not have a fan. Heat dispersion is managed by the aluminum enclosure. CAUTION If you are using multiple SV-32 units, do not stack them on top of one another. Clear space behind the SV-32. To prevent the SV-32 from accidentally turning off, ensure nothing is touching (or is too close to) the power button. EN.804.003-V6(1) 6
Getting started Getting started This section contains the basic procedures to get started using the SV-32. Connecting the SV-32 1 Connect your HDMI monitor to the SV-32 HDMI connector. If required, use the HDMI to DVI adapter or use the Display port. If it is not turned on, then turn on the monitor. 2 Connect the keyboard and mouse to the two USB ports. 3 (Optional) Connect your speakers to the S/PDIF line-out jack. 4 Plug your Ethernet cable into either of the available Ethernet ports. 5 Insert the DC plug into the 12V DC input jack on the SV-32 and turn it clockwise until the plug is secured. 6 Plug the DC power supply into an AC outlet. Note The SV-32 automatically turns on when connected to a power source. Default Windows users When you start up the SV-32, the following two Windows users are created by default: Admin (full admin access) Default password: admin Access to the SV Control Panel Operator (limited access) Default password: operator Access to C: drive Access to Security Desk through a desktop link Cannot access the SV Control Panel Cannot access video drives Cannot modify system settings Start menu contains Computer icon only 7 EN.804.003-V6(1)
Getting started Limited desktop icons (recycle bin, libraries) Cannot shut down/restart Windows Logging on The first time you start the SV-32, you are automatically logged in as the Operator user and the SV Control Panel and SV-32 setup wizard will open to guide you through the initial setup of your system. What you should know You will only be logged on to Windows automatically the first time the machine is started. After that, a Username and Password is required to log on to the machine. The SV Control Panel will only open automatically the first time the machine is started. After that, a user will be prompted to enter Admin credentials to have access to the SV Control Panel. To log on to SV Control Panel: 1 When prompted, enter the admin user credentials. 2 Click Connect. The SV Control Panel opens. For more details about using the SV Control Panel to configure your system, see the SV Control Panel User Guide. Product warranty Product warranty This section explains what is covered and what is not covered by the product warranty. What is covered Genetec guarantees the product against defects in materials and assembly in the course of normal use and service, for a period of 3 years from the date of shipment. Genetec Hardware Warranties cover the product Hardware. Please contact Genetec Technical Assistance for more information. What is not covered The following items are not covered by the Genetec Standard Hardware Warranty: Any equipment not furnished by Genetec which is attached to or used in conjunction with a product. A product which is used with any ancillary equipment that is not furnished by Genetec. Shipping cost to return a product to Genetec. Defects or damage resulting from customer's improper testing, operation, installation, maintenance, modification, alteration, or adjustment. Defects or damage from misuse, accident or neglect. Defects or damage resulting from use of the product in a manner other than its normal and customary manner. Defects or damage resulting from drilling holes, adding decals or other adhesives, or by painting the product. Defects or damage due to lightning or other electrical discharge. Product that is disassembled or repaired in such a manner as to adversely affect performance or prevent adequate inspection and testing to verify any warranty claim. About product repairs and returns About product repairs and returns This section explains the product return process. What should I do if the product is not working? Contact Genetec Technical Assistance for troubleshooting. An RMA form will be issued to you if the problem cannot be resolved. For information, see Technical support on page iv. How do I return the product? If a replacement unit is required, you must complete the RMA form provided by Genetec Technical Assistance before being issued an RMA number. Once you are given a number, you can then return the defective unit. The customer is responsible for all return shipping charges, and Genetec will pay the shipping charges to send the repaired product back to the customer. IMPORTANT If no problem is found with the unit, the customer is invoiced. Where to find system information You need to have all system information on hand when contacting Genetec Technical Support, such as the System ID number and image version. Find Security Center system license information 1 Open the SV Control Panel. If you re not logged on as the Admin user, you will be prompted to enter admin credentials. 2 Click About. The information is displayed under License. You can also click Show full license for more detailed information. Find the image version 1 Open the SV Control Panel. If you re not logged on as the Admin user, you will be prompted to enter admin credentials. 2 Click About. The image version is listed beside Software revision under System. EN.804.003-V6(1) 10
