Section 1: Introduction This Preparation Guide gives you an overview on how to prepare for a migration from or to any of the supported messaging platforms by IBM. Lotus Notes as a stand-alone email client Domino Server Foundations Start Section 2: Basic Requirements The following list contains the basic requirements for migrating from or to Lotus Notes, Domino Server, or Foundations Start. The Lotus Notes client must be installed on the workstation performing the migration. If the accounts are password protected then the ID file and password is required. In most cases you can use the Admin s ID file and password. In some cases, such as with encrypted messages, the user s ID file and password is required. For batch migration collect the Admin s ID file and password or collect all user s ID files and passwords. The example templates for the Transend Batch File Creator utility expects to find the ID files inside an M: drive. If you use the default template then create or Map an M: drive and place the ID files onto the M: drive. Transend Migrator only supports converting messages from or to NSF files of the mail template type. Transend Migrator will convert contact information into the NSF file of the Address Book template type or into the user s mail file. Other template types are not supported; however you still might be able to migrate data out of unsupported template types. Note If you migrate into the users Domino or Foundations Start account using the Admin s ID file and password it is possible that only the Administrator will be able to see the migrated folders. If that happens, then enable the Shared Folders checkbox or use the ToShared=True keyword in batch mode. Make sure you test out both options to see what will work best in your environment. Section 3: Preparing IBM Lotus Domino and Foundations Start Transend Migrator requires that the Notes email client software is installed on the computer that will be used to migrate Lotus Notes NSF files, or connect to the Domino Server. Domino Server and Foundations Start Accounts Transend Migrator does not create Domino Server or Foundations Start accounts. Therefore, the accounts must already exist. Lotus Notes Client The Lotus Notes software should be installed into its default location, and setup as a stand-alone client (if you do not need to use an ID file and password). If connecting to a Domino Server then set it up as an active client and provide the ID file and password for the account you are migrating. Under normal circumstances, Notes will prompt the user with a password dialog whenever a database or account is opened. Transend Migrator will intercept this prompt and supply the password you typed into the password box. In order for this interception to work, you must add one of the following statements into your Notes.ini file. The Notes.ini file should be located inside the Notes installation directory, but it could also be inside the profile directory for the logged on user. Use Windows Search if necessary. extmgr_addins=tmnt6.dll extmgr_addins=tmnts.dll (for Notes versions prior to version 6) Page 2 of 5

Section 4: Mapping a Drive This section is included in case you will be migrating in batch mode while using the ID file and password for each user account. This is the recommended method, but you may also use the Admin s ID file and password. Windows 7 The procedures for mapping drives in Windows XP, Vista, and Windows 7 are similar; however, accessing the Map Drive command can be found in different locations. In Windows XP you can map a drive by selecting the TOOLS menu option choice in Windows Explorer. In Windows Vista or Windows 7 you can map a drive from inside the Computer Icon. The rest of the instructions for mapping a drive are nearly identical. 1. Locate the Computer Icon on the Windows 7 Desktop. 2. Double-click on the Computer icon 3. Select the Map Network Drive option located on the Tools Menu 4. Select the drive letter you wish to use from the Drop Down list. Our sample templates use the M: drive. 5. Browse to the location of the network share or type it in. If you need to use a different account to map the drive then select the Connect using different credentials checkbox and enter in the alternate account. 6. Press Finish to complete the drive mapping process. If you will be using an alternate account then you will be prompted for the alternate account and password. 7. Your newly mapped drive should now display as a drive choice. Page 3 of 5

Section 5: ID Files and Passwords By default, Transend Migrator will use the ID file and password setup with the Lotus Notes email client. If you need to specify a different ID file and password other than the default, we recommend you use the below syntax example. You may use the ID file and password for each user or use the ID file and password of the Administrator. ID Files and Passwords with Batch Mode Processing Password Syntax when migrating From default Notes account FromPassword = <Password> Password Syntax when migrating From alternate Notes account FromPassword = <Password>;<ID File> Examples FromPassword = mysecret FromPassword = mysecret;m:\jsnuffy.id ToPassword = mysecret ToPassword = mysecret;m:\jsnuffy.id Hint If you need to specify a different ID file and password to perform a single user mailbox migration, then you may want to type the same syntax in the Password field, or type in the same syntax in Notepad and then paste it into the Password field.
