General Installed on a control panel or on a navigating stand, the Autopilot Override is used on the bridge to serve as a (NON FOLLOW UP) time control element. AUTO autopilot operating mode is interrupted immediately by disengaging the lever. If the lever (joystick) is pushed as far as it will go to PORT or STBD, a switch contact is activated. These operating instructions contain every operational procedure as well as information about behaviour when alarms occur. Such alarms are indicated on the digital display units and also by means of flashing LEDs and audible alarm signals. Service manual In addition to the operating manual, there is also a service manual. It contains the following: -- Information relating to installation and initial start-up -- Information relating to maintenance and repairs, and -- a description of the tiller 1 3432E/105--302.DOC012
Autopilot Override in Steering Control system Autopilot Override NFU tillers are bus users on the user device bus (BG Bus) *) on the NP 2000 autopilot control transmitter within a secondary steering system. The NFU tiller is activated for override operation by setting the steering mode selector either to the AUTO setting (see figure). In manual steering mode, the bus transfers the control signals, and the NP2000 Autopilot Control Unit converts these into analogue control signals for the FU amplifier. The control point can be selected on site. The selection is made according to the Take Over principle, i.e. only one control point is active. A total of 15 bus users can be connected (including bus tillers of different designs). 3 Notes to operating instructions The system operates interactively (i.e. an action causes a reaction). Each operating procedure shown must be completed step by step. Where necessary and in the relevant sections, we have added useful supplementary notes alongside the illustrations (symbols). We recommend that you fold out the appendix page since it contains an illustration of all the controls and indications. Explanation of the symbols used. press a key LED off LED on LED flashing audible signal on audible signal off 3 3432E/105--302.DOC012
Switching on When the full rudder control system is switched on, the Autopilot Override NFU tiller is also ready for operation in AUTO mode. 4.1 General Indications Comments Notes For example: red The display is indicating the current rudder angle in, the relevant LED is illuminated. If the final decimal point of the indicated figure is illuminated, this means that an additional 0.5 is being indicated. In the example: 10,5. Rudder position is indicated by illuminating the relevant LED (PORT is red, STBD is green). Both LEDs remain unlit when the rudder position is 0. 5 Standard operation Indications Comments Notes Tiller in The steering mode selector is set to AUTO, steering control is now effected by the autopilot. The LED is illuminated 3432E/105--302.DOC012 4
Indications Comments Notes Activate tiller green Use the lever (joystick) to set the required rudder angle. As soon as the lever is moved, an audible warning sounds, Autopilot mode is interrupted and the LED is illuminated. Autopilot: Override For example: red The line of text on the Autopilot control unit indicates manual steering. The display unit indicates the actual rudder angle in and the relevant LED is illuminated. Deactivating the tiller 1. Switch the steering mode selector to main FU steering system or NFU. Neither LED is lit or Auto 2. press the AUTO key. Steering control is taken over by the autopilot The LED beside the deactivated tiller is illuminated. 5 3432E/105--302.DOC012
Additional operation in standard operation 6.1 Illumination control Indications Comments Notes Increases the brightness on all LEDs and indications. Decreases the brightness on all LEDs and indications. 3432E/105--302.DOC012 6
.2 Testing Indications Comments Notes Automatic test cycle lasting approx. xxs. simultaneous Approx. 2 second check of -- 7 segment display -- audible signal (twice) -- LEDs to maximum brilliance -- Key illumination to maximum brilliance The following indications are then tested: -- Tiller type Non Follow-Up Override (no) For example: -- Bridge assignment For example: Tiller on bridge 1 (b1) -- Rudder scale in two steps -- Indication (rs) For example: For example: -- rudder scale value For example: 35 -- Software version in two steps -- E -- 00. -- 00 For example: -- The DP address in two steps -- Bus user address (Ad) -- value e.g. 5 -- Current status of bus termination e.g. RS485 interface is not terminated ( t1 is terminated) -- Indication of installation--position Locations: Pn = Port Wing Sn = Starboard Wing br = Bridge (1) bb = Bridge (2) Po = Position ---- = not already adjusted Edition: 22. Indications For example: Comments Notes -- The EPROM checksum in three steps, e.g. A3 E6 -- check sum (CH) -- upper hexadecimal value -- lower hexadecimal value When the test has ended the display automatically reverts to indicating the rudder position 6.3 Warning messages Warning messages occur if the Autopilot Override NFU tiller is activated without previously activating tiller control, which means that steering control is ineffective from this tiller. Indications Comments Notes Steering mode selector to REMOTE Steering mode selector is set to Remote Neither LED (ACTIVE or STANDBY) is lit When the tiller is moved a pulsed audible warning signal (5 separate tones) sounds.
