Release Notes Introduction Metalogix continues to enhance and refine products based on customer demand and feedback. Content Matrix Web Components has been updated to reflect these and other changes. Features Below is a brief description of some of the main enhancements that are part of this release. Reorganize for Site Owners Site Owners can, with Administrator configuration, copy, delete or move entire sites, lists, libraries or folders within a SharePoint farm using a feature Reorganize. The tool can be accessed from a site actions menu. From the Reorganize page, the Site Owner can open any part of the site hierarchy in a new window, immediately see changes made within the site, queue copy, paste or delete content changes. When pasting content, site owners can rename folders, lists or sites on the destination, choose another template from the destination, paste only elements (users, content types, groups or web parts), and select other options to include. Copyright 2013 Metalogix International 3

Release Notes A highlight of this is that folders can be promoted by pasting them to a Site, where they will become Lists or Libraries, making frequently accessed content more visible in the site s hierarchy. The Reorganize tool also has a Processing page to monitor progress The processing page has a View dropdown to filter the job summaries viewed. The links in each job summary open new browsers to that location. The job summaries can be exported to an excel sheet for archiving. Other Fixes and Enhancements The term Classify has been replaced with Apply Metadata. This will be seen on the buttons and context menu. During a copy from the Reorganize page, the number of versions to include can be specified. The Reorganize Page has been fixed to prevent overlapping of URLs. The main menu has been moved to Application Management page. Copyright 2013 Metalogix International 4

Release Notes Known Issues If a content type is added to a list or library as the result of copying or moving, (notably when the content type has managed metadata fields), and the content type was not added successfully, there may be issues trying to copy or move the content using this content type to other locations. For Reorganize, content types may not be applied if the copy is a List or Library. They will apply to the destination if the source is a folder, site or site collection. If a site collection is deleted, it may not immediately refresh in the tree view. An iisreset will take care of this. If you are using Metalogix Content Matrix and Metalogix StoragePoint, AND your storage profiles use asynchronous externalization, content that is copied or moved with Content Matrix will not be externalized to the final endpoint. The content remains in the system cache. The farm administrator will need to run the Unused BLOB cleanup job for the storage profile covering the destination, and then the Content Migrator job for the farm. This will externalize the BLOBs to their final endpoints. Administrators may not see all available Site Collections on the Reorganize page. Some SharePoint topologies may have been configured so that WebApps run under a different AppPool account or identity. This will isolate content between WebApps, and thus mean Content Matrix (by design) will security trim that part of the hierarchy. The resolution is to use the same AppPool account/identity for all WebApps, or grant the limited AppPool identity a login (with membership in the db_owner role) to any desired Content Databases in SQL. Occasionally the provisioning job on the install may get hung up. Restarting the timer service resolves this issue. If a field in a list has a unique value constraint, copying that content within the same list will present errors. Moving that content will also present errors. External Data that is selected during Apply Metadata or Upload is not retained. The content can be edited using the SharePoint interface. Requirements Content Matrix is installed as a SharePoint solution on a single SharePoint web front-end (WFE), making for simple installation and deployment to your SharePoint farm. This section will outline the necessary software and security prerequisites needed to install Content Matrix. Minimum Server Software Requirements SharePoint Foundation Server (SFS) or Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 (MSS) o Operating System - Windows 2008 Server o SharePoint Server - SharePoint Foundation Server (SFS) - Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 (MSS), Standard or Enterprise Copyright 2013 Metalogix International 5

Server Hardware Requirements Content Matrix does not have any hardware requirements beyond what is prescribed by Microsoft for WSS or MOSS. For your reference, those can be reviewed here: http://office.microsoft.com/enus/help/ha101945391033.aspx Minimum Browser Requirements Content Matrix follows the same minimum requirements as those for SharePoint 2010. You can find more detail on these specifications at http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc263526.aspx. Generally, these browsers are Internet Explorer 7.0, 8.0, 9.0 and Mozilla Firefox 3.6. Security Requirements The User Account used to perform the install must be a SharePoint Farm Administrator. Planning Considerations Content Matrix is designed to work on a SharePoint farm that has been carefully planned and architected. Users should be familiar with the layout and know where to find their most commonly used sites. Administrators and team leaders should be familiar with custom content types and custom columns that the team uses. Libraries must have Content Type Management enabled (Library settings>advanced Settings>Allow Management of Content Types=Yes) in order to best utilize the Copy and Move functionality. Install, Upgrade or Repair This section will walk you through the process of installing Content Matrix for the first time in your SharePoint farm, or upgrading or repairing an existing installation. If you have not done so already, please review the Getting Started Guide for Content Matrix Console document for steps prior to this installation. NOTE: If you have previously installed Content Matrix version 1 (no Reorganize or Processing pages) you will need to uninstall that version before upgrading or repairing version 6. NOTE: When installing the Metalogix Content Matrix Web Components users should note that an IIS Reset will need to be performed when the solution (WSP) file is deployed through the SharePoint farm. This is a requirement of SharePoint, and not of Metalogix. In most cases this IIS Reset is automatically done as part of the solution deployment. For more general information on this issue, please see the following Microsoft articles: http://technet.microsoft.com/en- Copyright 2013 Metalogix International 6

ca/library/cc262995(v=office.14).aspx#deployfarmsolutions and http://msdn.microsoft.com/enus/library/aa544500.aspx#sectiontoggle2. There are a number of methods that can be used to try and mitigate any downtime when deploying a SharePoint farm solution. One of these methods is to schedule the solution deployment for a time period that will have low impact to the environment's users. 1. You will receive a welcome email with instructions on how to download the software. This email will be sent after you register for a trial or make a software purchase. Follow the instructions and download the software to one of your SharePoint WFEs or download it to another location and copy it to one of your WFEs. 2. Once downloaded or copied to a WFE within your farm or single-server environment, simply doubleclick the executable to launch the installer. NOTE: For locked down instances of Windows 2008 or Windows 2008 R2, it may be necessary to right click on the executable and click Run as Administrator. 3. Click the Run Content Matrix Install button. Copyright 2013 Metalogix International 7

4. You will be presented with a welcome screen. Click Next. Copyright 2013 Metalogix International 8

5. The installer will now perform a series of system checks to make sure the system is ready for Content Matrix to be installed. If all system checks pass, click Next. NOTE: If a system check fails it will be denoted with a red X and you will not be able to continue with the installation process until the issue(s) is resolved. Please make sure you are using the correct key. There are different keys for production and non-production licenses. NOTE: If you are activating a Trial license key, all Content Matrix features will stop working at the end of the trial period. 10. Verify the number of WFE servers in the farm. This can be less than the number requested with your license. You must enter an explanation in the Reason for Override field if you check the Override box. 11. Provide the credentials for an account that has local administrator rights on the WFE(s). The activation and provisioning job that runs requires this access to register certain components on each WFE. Copyright 2013 Metalogix International 12

12. Select the Activate Online option and click Next, (go to step 19.) or if your server does not have an Internet connection, click Activate Offline and go to the next step. Copyright 2013 Metalogix International 13
