Yur bx shuld cntain the fllwing: (1) igate ruter with attached Antenna (1) Pwer Supply (1) Ethernet Cable (1) Quick Installatin Guide (1) User Guide B) Physical Installatin (1) Optinal: Ruter Base Statin Stand fr Vertical Setup Chsing a Desired Lcatin Yur igate ruter serves as the centerpiece f yur netwrk. It must be psitined near yur High Speed Cable/DSL mdem r Satellite/Wireless Ethernet Cable. Fr cmputers cnnecting t it thrugh Wired Mde, it must be placed near a cmputer r Netwrk Hub/Switch. If yu are using the High Speed Wireless Functin f yur igate ruter, review these guidelines befre deciding where t place yur igate ruter: Place the igate ruter in the physical centre f yur netwrk as the antenna sends ut mni directinal signals. Place the igate ruter in a higher lcatin, such as n tp f a cabinet, t help disperse the wireless signal cleanly and evenly. If pssible, place the igate ruter in a psitin where there is a direct line f sight between the igate ruter and yur ther hme netwrk devices. Page 1 f 5

Avid placing yur igate ruter within 10 f yur cmputer r ther devices like radis, micrwaves, 2.4GHz crdless telephnes and mirrrs, because these all interfere with the signal. Place the igate ruter in the desired lcatin and fllw the prcedures belw fr cnnecting and cnfiguring the igate ruter. C) Electrical Cnnectin (see Figure 1) Yur igate ruter des nt have an ON/OFF switch and therefre will be pwered n by plugging in the included AC adaptr. Figure 1: Pwer Cnnectin Figure 2: Netwrk Cnnectin Cnnect the pwer adaptr t the igate ruter s Pwer prt n the back f the igate ruter. Cnnect the AC adaptr int a grunded and surge-prtected pwer utlet. The Pwer LED n the frnt panel lights up RED when yur pwer is cnnected prperly. D) Mdem Cnnectin (see Figure 2) If yu have a DSL/Cable Internet Cnnectin: Cnnect an Ethernet cable frm the WAN r INTERNET r ETHERNET prt n the back f yur DSL/Cable Mdem t the WAN prt n the back f the igate ruter. Als be sure the pwer supply is plugged int yur DSL/Cable Mdem and the DSL/Cable Mdem is turned n. If yu have a Satellite/Wireless Internet Cnnectin: Cnnect the Ethernet cable that runs frm yur antenna/dish t the WAN prt n the back f yur igate ruter. If yu have an Internet Cnnectin withut a high-speed mdem: Be sure yu have a high-speed Internet Cnnectin and nt a dial-up cnnectin. Cntact yur Internet Service Prvider t see if yur cnnectin requires a mdem. If yu cannt get high-speed and need dialup cnnectivity, cntact igateweb abut returning yur igate and inquire abut igateweb Dial. E) Cmputer Cnnectin (see Figure 2) Use the supplied Ethernet cable t cnnect yur PC t yur igate ruter. Plug ne end f the cable int ne f the LAN prts n the back f yur igate ruter. Plug the ther end f the cable int the LAN prt f the netwrk card f yur cmputer. Yu must nw prceed t cnfigure yur Cmputer. Page 2 f 5

Cnfigure yur Cmputer A) Cnfiguring Windws XP Click Start, Cntrl Panel Duble-click Netwrk Cnnectins Duble-click yur Lcal Area Cnnectin r Wireless Area Cnnectin Click Prperties Scrll dwn the list in the centre f the dialg bx until yu see Internet Prtcl (TCP/IP) and duble-click it In the new dialg bx that pps up, ensure the fllwing settings are selected: Obtain an IP address autmatically Obtain DNS server address autmatically Click OK and OK again. The settings are nw applied. NOTE: If yu cannt find yur Lcal/Wireless Area Cnnectin, click Start, Run and type the fllwing cmmand: cntrl netcnnectins. Then Click OK. NOTE: The settings belw are fr Windws XP, but are similar fr lder versins f Windws. Ensure the fllwing tw settings are selected: Obtain an IP address autmatically Obtain DNS server address autmatically B) Cnfiguring Apple Macintsh > Fr Mac OS 9: 1. Open the TCP/IP cntrl panel. Yu shuld see these settings: d: Cnnect via: AirPrt Cnfigure: Using DHCP IP Address: Will be supplied by server If necessary, make changes. Clse the TCP/IP cntrl panel, clicking Save if prmpted. 2. Open the AppleTalk cntrl panel. Yu shuld see these settings: d: Cnnect via: AirPrt If necessary, change the setting. Clse the AppleTalk cntrl panel, clicking Save if prmpted. > Fr Mac OS X: 1) Frm the Apple menu, chse System Preferences. 2) Frm the View menu, chse Netwrk. 3) Chse AirPrt r Built-in Ethernet frm the Shw pp-up menu. 4) If yu wish t have a wireless cnnectin, and AirPrt des nt appear in the Shw menu, chse Netwrk Prt Cnfiguratins frm the Shw menu, select AirPrt, then chse AirPrt frm the Shw menu. (In Mac OS X versins 10.0 t 10.1.5, chse Active Netwrk Prts frm the Shw menu.) 5) Click the TCP/IP tab, and check fr this setting: Page 3 f 5

IP address (r Cnfigure IPv4): "Prvided by DHCP server", r "Using DHCP" 6) If necessary, make changes. 7) Click the AppleTalk tab. 8) Make sure the checkbx fr "Make AppleTalk active" is selected. 9) If yu have made any changes since yu pened System Preferences, click Apply Nw. Yu must nw prceed t cnfigure yur Internet Cnnectin. 3. Cnfigure yur Internet Cnnectin Yur Internet Cnnectin cnfiguratin Includes: A. Cnnecting t yur igate ruter B. Entering yur Internet Service Prvider settings A) Cnnecting t yur igate ruter 1) Open yur Web Brwser (Apple s Safari, Micrsft s Internet Explrer, Mzilla s FireFx, r the like) and pint t http://192.168.10.1:8080. Enter yur username and passwrd: Username = admin Passwrd = admin 2) Click n the Simple setup start here link t prceed t the WAN Cnfiguratin page. NOTE: If yu cannt cnnect t the igate Ruter, check yur Hardware and Cmputer Cnfiguratin as fund in Steps 1 and 2 f this User Guide. B) Entering yur Internet Service Prvider settings On the WAN Cnfiguratin page, yu will enter the settings required t cnnect yu t the Internet. 3) Under WAN Cnfiguratin Cnnectin Type, chse the type that matches yur Internet cnnectin. Chse the setting that yur Internet Service Prvider (ISP) has recmmended. Fllw the n-screen instructins fr each specific type. If yu are in dubt, fllw these pinters, check yur ISP dcumentatin, r call yur ISP fr supprt. Mst Residential DSL (ADSL, SDSL) users will chse PPPE. Sme Business DSL users will use Static IP, thugh mst will use PPPE. Mst Residential Cable users will use either DHCP r Static IP. Business Cable Users will typically use Static IP. i) Nte: If yur Cable Cnnectin is MAC-address cntrlled, call yur ISP and update yur prfile with them by prviding them with the new MAC-address as fund n the bttm f yur igate. ii) Nte: Sme Cmcast Cable users require PPPE settings, thugh thers require DHCP. Check with Cmcast t be sure. Mst Satellite/Wireless Internet users will use PPPE. 4) Under PPP r IP Settings, enter the apprpriate settings as prvided by yur ISP. a) Nte: Redial Timeut may be left BLANK unless ther settings are required by yur Internet Service Prvider. b) Nte: MTU may be left BLANK unless ther settings are required by yur Internet Service Prvider. 5) At the bttm right-hand crner f the screen, click Save Settings. Yu must nw prceed t cnfigure yur igateweb filtering settings. 4. Cnfigure yur igateweb filtering settings Still n the WAN Cnfiguratin page, yu will enter the settings assciated with yur igateweb Filtering Accunt. A) Entering yur Telephne Number and PIN Cde 1. Under Filtering Settings Telephne Number, enter the 10-digit telephne number (including the area cde, and withut spaces, letters r dashes) assciated with yur igateweb Filtering Accunt. Usually this is yur main hme/hme-ffice/business telephne number. Example: 8882844283. 2. Under Filtering Settings PIN Cde, enter the 6-digit PIN cde as fund n the sticker n the bttm f yur igate ruter and the utside f yur ruter s bx. B) Duble-checking yur settings 1. Cnfirm that yu have entered the 10-digit Telephne Number assciated with yur igateweb Filtering Accunt, withut spaces, letters r dashes. Entering a Telephne Number imprperly will cause yur igate t seriusly malfunctin! 2. Check that yur PIN cde is entered exactly as the 6-digit PIN cde fund n the sticker n the bttm f yur igate ruter. Yu must nw prceed t saving, applying and testing yur settings. 5. Saving, applying and testing yur settings Still n the WAN Cnfiguratin page, yu will save and apply yur settings. Then yu ll prceed t test yur cnnectin. A) Saving and applying yur settings It is necessary t save and apply yur settings befre everything will wrk prperly: 1) Click Save Changes at the bttm right-hand crner f yur page 2) Click Apply Changes at the bttm right-hand crner f yur page B) Testing yur settings Open a new web brwser and pint t http://www.ggle.cm. If nthing is displayed, g back and check the accuracy f the settings yu entered in Step 3B (Entering yur Internet Service Prvider settings) and Step 4 (Entering yur igateweb filtering settings). Be sure t fllw step D if yu make any changes again. If a blcked page is displayed, yu have nt crrectly entered the filtering settings in Step 4A. G back and check the accuracy f the settings yu entered in Step 4A. Be sure t fllw step 5 if yu make any changes again. If the Ggle.cm page is displayed, everything is wrking crrectly. Cngratulatins!
