THIS LEAFLET SHOULD BE KEPT IN A SAFE PLACE FOR REFERENCE Operating instructions valve control box AS-i 1 System description The Norgren Herion valve control box is used for controlling pneumatic swivel drives in OPEN/CLOSE function. The part functions valve, position sensors and field bus interface (AS-i) are incorporated in one housing. The valve control box (VCB) is connected to the swivel drive via the standardised NAMUR mechanical interface. The integration of all necessary part functions reduces the costs for planning, construction and commissioning to a minimum in comparison with conventional solutions. The valve control box has a modular design enabling it to meet a wide variety of demands. Variations are possible with regard to the valve functions, pneumatic connection and electrical auxiliary power concept (see 7 Device installation). 2 Technical Data 2.1 In General Constr. dimensions: Weight: Housing material: Protection type: Installation point: Ambient temperature Fluid temperature: Storage temperature: See scale drawing 1.8 kg aluminium IP65 as required -25 C... +65 C -25 C... +65 C -40 C... +80 C 2.2 Pneumatic system Fluid: Dried, filtered, non-oiled compressed air Operating pressure: 2... 8 bar Flow rate: 300 l/min Connections: Optional plug connection Ø 6 mm, G 1/4 or 1/4 NPT 2.3 Electrical system Bus interface: per AS-i specifications I/O configuration: 03 (hex) (2 I / 2 O) ID-Code: 0F (hex) (optional profile) AS-i certificate: Reg. In addition, differentiation must be made between whether the solenoid valves are being fed from the AS-i cable or an additional external power supply (EMER- GENCY STOP capability). Note: The type of auxiliary power supply is also indicated by the position of the plug-in jumper on the printed circuit board (top left). 4.3 Meaning of the LEDs The valve control box has 6 LED displays that allow easy and precise diagnosis of the system. AS-i see table Fault see table Valve 1 valve 1 live Open unit open Close unit closed 5 Adjusting the position sensors The position of the unit (OPEN or CLOSED) is detected in the valve control box by optical position sensors and signalled to the primary control system via the AS interface. This is achieved by optical cams fastened on a sensor plate affecting reflex couplers mounted on the printed circuit board. The optical cams can be adjusted to suit the various swivel angles of the unit. LED AS-i Fault Meaning off off no operating voltage off on no data traffic on off OK flashing on slave address=0 off flashing error **) **) This error is signalled if there is no external power supply on valve control boxes designed for external auxiliary power supply. OPEN CLOSED Printed circuit board (1) Reflex coupler OPEN (2) Reflex coupler CLOSED (3) Optical cam OPEN (4) Optical cam CLOSED (5) Locking screws for the optical cams (6) Sensor plate (7) Covering cap Adjustments are carried out after fitting the valve control box to the unit. Adjustments can be carried out after removing the housing top and pulling off the black covering cap (7). First of all undo locking screws (5) slightly. Now drive the unit to the respective OPEN and CLOSED positions. The optical cams (3) and (4) must be adjusted in the respective end positions so that they are centrally positioned over the corresponding reflex couplers (1) and (2). The correct setting can be checked using the LEDs Open and Closed. Upon completion, tighten the locking screws again and replace covering cap and housing top. 9 7503452.50.09.02

6.2 Setting the transport address A transport address must be assigned to the valve control box before it is linked into the field bus system. The valid address range is 1 to 31. Addressing is carried out using a special AS-i addressing device or master function call (in this case only one slave may be connected with the master). The transport address is set to 0 at works. The transport address is stored non-volatile in the valve control box.! Re-addressing is possible up to 15 times after which the last address is retained. 6.3 Assignment of the AS-i databits I/O - configuration: 03 (hex) ID - Code: 0F (hex) AS-i data ports Function Outputs Inputs D3 D2 D1 D0 0 0 Valve 1 not live 0 1 Valve 1 live 0 0 No limit position reached 0 1 Unit open 1 0 Unit closed 1 1 Not possible 7 Setting up equipment Type code AS-i V 75 *** 00 *** 00 000 Electrical control Classification number AS-i without auxiliary elec. power supply 00 AS-i with auxiliary elec. power supply 01 Electrical connection Classification number 1 x M12 4 Pneumatic connection Classification number G 1/4 0 1/4 NPT 1 Hose plug connector 2 Pneumatic functions Classification number 3/2 way valve 00 5/2 way valve monostable 01 11 7503452.50.09.02
