Agilent W2100 Antenna Modeling Design System Release Notes 1 Product Features Software Features 6 Documentation Features 7 Examples 8 Antenna Modeling Design System (AMDS) is a three-dimensional full wave electromagnetic solver based on the Finite Difference Time Domain (FDTD) method. Agilent Technologies provides powerful software to academia, industry, and government users. AMDS is an exciting addition to our software product line with many new features. While AMDS has its roots in the simulation of cellular telephones, current uses for the software have reached markets as diverse as chemistry, optics, ground-penetrating radar, and biomedical devices, in addition to wireless, microwave circuit, and radar scattering applications. 1 Product Features Software Features The AMDS Reference Manual provides detailed explanations of the software features and menus. For typical usage examples, refer to the AMDS User s Guide. 6 AMDS Release Notes
Product Features 1 Documentation Features AMDS product documentation is provided in both Microsoft Windows Help format and Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF). Windows Help format can be accessed directly from AMDS by choosing Help > AMDS Manuals. Standard Windows Help features such as Contents, Index, Search and Favorites are available. Adobe PDF format is available under your installation directory in the following location: <installation folder>/doc/pdf If you want to print a hardcopy of your documentation, PDF files are highly recommended for best print quality. 1 Product Features Examples A number of examples are provided for Antenna Modeling Design System to help you develop an understanding of how to use the product. Example data files can be downloaded from the Agilent EEsof Knowledge Center at the same location where you download the product. For more information on downloading and using examples, refer to the AMDS User s Guide. 8 AMDS Release Notes
Agilent W2100 Antenna Modeling Design System Release Notes 2 Known Problems and Workarounds Operating Environment 10 Simulation 11 This chapter lists potential problems that may be encountered when running Antenna Modeling Design System (AMDS), and workarounds where applicable. Agilent Technologies 9
2 Known Problems and Workarounds Operating Environment The following are known problems related to operating environment. Heterogeneous Human Head and Body Meshes The Heterogeneous Human Head and Body Meshes described in the AMDS Reference Manual are not available in this release. 10 AMDS Release Notes
Known Problems and Workarounds 2 Simulation The following are known problems related to the simulator. Out of Virtual Memory Error Two issues have been reported involving virtual memory errors: Windows may report an out of virtual memory error during a simulation using the Acceleware hardware. This can occur even though the simulation should fit in the allocated memory. Windows may indicate it is low on virtual memory when setting up a simulation. Workaround: For both of these problems is to increase the minimum amount of virtual memory to at least 8 Gigabytes. AMDS Release Notes 11
2 Known Problems and Workarounds Licensing Using Project Drives Other than Installation Drive There are two issues assoiciated with AMDS licensing: AMDS Licensing gets confused when you set a HOME environment variable. AMDS Licensing fails to check out when the project is located on a drive other than the installation drive. Workaround: In the first case, you should avoid setting a HOME environment variable. In the second case, put project on same drive as the same drive as the installation. Run the license preference tool from the project drive by opening a command prompt and switching to it. Run the perference tool by entering c:\agilent\amds_2007\bin\ aglmpref_exe.exe (or the location where AMDS was installed followed by bin\aglmpref_exe.exe). The preference tool should start and show the bundles unselected. Select the desired bundles and click OK to save the results. A directory structure \hpeesof\config\hpeesof.cfg will be created on the drive and AMDS will use the selected bundles. 12 AMDS Release Notes
