SONOLINE G40 ultrasound system Quick Scan Card: General/OB For system software version 2.0 Press the Power Switch on the upper left side of the keyboard. A blue light will indicate the power is on. Getting Started Note: The term select is used to describe the action of rotating the SELECT control (located lower left on control panel) to highlight the desired action and pressing SELECT control to execute. Beginning an Exam To enter data for a new patient: 1 Press NEW PATIENT (F1). 2 Enter the patient name, ID, and other pertinent information using the keyboard. 3 Use TAB to move to next data field. 4 Use TRACKBALL and cursor to select OK. 5 If desired exam or transducer is not active, select correct Transducer or Exam from the drop down menus, press SET key. 6 Exams can also be selected using EXAM key (F5) on keyboard. Selecting a Transducer Change the Transducer by pressing the Transducer button (cycles between the two transducers). 2D Imaging To adjust... do this: More Penetration Toggle the TxFreq (soft) key down Clean out noise/clutter Press THI button Overall Gain/brightness Rotate 2-D knob Depth Rotate DEPTH/ZOOM knob Focus Rotate Focus control to position, Push down to add foci Zoom Press DEPTH/ZOOM knob to select and rotate to zoom Gain (to compensate for weak signals in specific areas) Adjust the positions of the DGC sliders Steer 2D image (VF10-5) Press Steer/Angle. Rotate to steer image Sector format (VF10-5) Roll SELECT control to highlight SECTOR in the control menu and press select control Rotate or Flip Image R/L To change image orientation from up/down or left to right: Rotate SELECT knob to highlight U/D (Up/Down) flip or L/R Left/Right flip (control menu) Press SELECT knob to activate Annotating an Image 1 Obtain an image, press Freeze. 2 Press the TEXT key. 3 Place text cursor where you would like the text to be displayed. 4 Type text.

To Use Pre Programmed Text 1 Press TEXT key. 2 Toggle Library On (soft key menu) 3 Rotate SELECT control to highlight desired text, press SELECT. To Move Text 1 Bring cursor next to the desired text to be moved. 2 Press SET key to highlight (text turns green). 3 Use TRACKBALL to move position of text to desired area. 4 Press SET to lock text in place. Removing Text from an Image 1 Press DELETE WORD on keyboard to remove selected word. 2 Pressing CLEAR SCREEN on Keyboard or CLEAR SCREEN soft key will remove all text, arrows and pictograms from screen. Distance Measurement 1 Press Freeze. 2 Press CALIPER key. 3 Place first caliper position, press SET key. 4 Place subsequent caliper(s), press SET key. Measurement will be displayed on screen. Distance Measurement with a Label 1 Press Freeze. 2 Press CALIPER key. 3 Roll TRACKBALL to highlight measurement from on-screen menu, press SET key. 4 Place first caliper, press SET key. 5 Place subsequent caliper(s), press SET key. Measurement will be displayed on screen and transferred to Worksheet. Measuring a Volume using 2D Imaging 1 Acquire first image (Longitudinal), press Freeze. 2 Press Caliper key. 3 Select Volume measurement from SOFT KEY menu using toggle key. 4 Roll TRACKBALL to position first cursor placement for length, press SET key. 5 Roll TRACKBALL to position the second measurement marker, press SET key. 6 Roll TRACKBALL to position the first measurement marker for the depth measurement, press SET key. 7 Roll TRACKBALL to position the second measurement marker for the depth measurement, press SET key. 8 Unfreeze the image, acquire transverse view, press Freeze. 9 Press the CALIPER key on the control panel. 10 On the second image, roll TRACKBALL to position the first measurement marker for the width measurement, press SET key. 11 Roll TRACKBALL to position the second measurement marker, press the SET key. The system displays volume measurement on screen Note: Pressing the ESCAPE key during the volume measurement will erase the measurements that have been finished up to that point.

Circumference Measurement with a Label 1 Press Freeze. 2 Press Caliper Key. 3 Rotate SELECT control to highlight measurement from on screen menu, press SELECT control. 4 Place first caliper, press SET key. 5 Place second caliper, press SET key. 6 To adjust a caliper location- re-activate caliper by pressing the UPDATE key. (green is active) 7 Roll TRACKBALL to adjust ellipse shape, press SET key. (Ellipse can be repositioned by rolling TB) 8 Press SET key to complete measurement and send to Report. Color and Power Doppler To activate Color press Color Mode control. To exit press again or press 2D. To activate Power Doppler press Power Mode control. To adjust... do this ROI position ROI size Steer Overall color/power gain Frequency PRF (scale) Roll trackball Press SET Key, roll trackball to adjust, press SET Press Steer/Angle control (only available on linear txs.) Measurement will be displayed on screen and transferred to Worksheet.

Selecting Multiple Gestations 1 Press CALIPER key. 2 Roll TRACKBALL to top of Measurement menu to highlight B, C or D (default is singleton-a). 3 In prompt box answer YES to multiple gestations question. 4 Use TRACKBALL to select YES, press SET key. Measuring the Heart Rate with M- Mode 1 Press M-Mode key and obtain M-Mode cursor. 2 Position cursor, press M-Mode key again for tracing. 3 Obtain sweep, press FREEZE key. 4 Press Caliper key. 5 Select HR (heart rate) from SOFT KEY menu. 6 Roll TRACKBALL to place measurement marker at the beginning of the cardiac cycle, press SET key. 7 Roll TRACKBALL to place second measurement marker at the end of the first cardiac cycle, press SET key. Heart rate will be displayed on screen and transferred to Worksheet Editing Measurements in the Worksheet 1 Rotate SELECT control to highlight Worksheet in the control Menu, press SELECT control. 2 Roll TRACKBALL to the value to be deleted/edited, press SET key. 3 Use the keyboard to delete or edit value. 4 Press ENTER, system updates the value. Measure AFI using 4B 1 Rotate the SELECT control to highlight 4B in the control menu, press SELECT control. 2 Obtain first quadrant image, press Freeze. 3 Repeat process until 4 quadrant images have been obtained. 4 Press CALIPER key. 5 Rotate SELECT control to highlight Page, press to select page 2/3. 6 Rotate SELECT control to highlight AFI menu, press SELECT control. 7 Place first measurement marker, press SET key. 8 Place second measurement marker, press SET key. 9 Repeat this process in each quadrant. 10 Press 2D control to exit 4B. Note: AFI will be displayed on screen and transferred to Worksheet. DIMAQ: Reviewing and Selecting Images/Studies To review images stored during an active exam 1 Press Patient Browser key on the control panel. 2 Active patient images stored will be displayed.

To review stored images/studies 1 Press Patient Browser key on the control panel. 2 Use TRACKBALL position cursor on patient name, press SET key. 3 Roll trackball to select Image Screen button-press SET key. To change display format 1 Roll cursor to top left drop down menu. 2 Position cursor over arrow, press SET key. 3 Select desired format (1X1, 2X2, 3X3, 4X4 or 5X5) and release SET key. 4 To advance images rotate SELECT knob. To select multiple consecutive studies 1 Select a single study. 2 Place cursor on last patient name. 3 Press Shift key and SET key. To select multiple nonconsecutive studies 1 Position cursor and hold Ctrl key for additional studies, press SET key. Transfer Studies to CD Press Patient Browser key on the control panel. 1 Select EJECT button from menu-insert CD. 2 Select LOAD from patient browser menu-press SET key. 3 Use TRACKBALL position cursor on patient name, press SET key. 4 Wait until highlighted case turns blue. 5 Select EXPORT from menu-press SET key. 6 Status of export displayed on bar under export. 7 Select EJECT from menu-press SET key. 8 Remove CD from CD-driver. Press Escape to leave Patient Browser or select Live Screen to Resume Scanning. Powering off System: Turn off system by pressing blue power switch located on the upper left side of the keyboard. * Press once for STANDBY mode * Press and hold to Power system OFF Note: Wait until monitor goes black before removing power cord from wall. Refer to the system s user and reference manuals for safety information (warnings, cautions, and explanations of symbols and labels), complete operating instructions and technical specifications, and procedures for system and transducer care (cleaning and disinfecting procedures).
