Go to https://panasonic.net/cns/linkray/ for more information on Panasonic's Light ID service. LinkRay Application Panasonic has prepared a standard app (LinkRay Light ID Solution) for use with ios and Android systems. This app can be downloaded to a smartphone or tablet for free. Also, Panasonic provides an SDK (Software Development Kit) which can work with the standard app and customers' apps. Specifications for compatible LED modules Please use a constant-current type LED module. VS recommends the use of LED modules of LUGA Shop series Gen. 6 or higher. If using other LED modules the Light ID signal quality has to be testet. The using of Tuneable White modules has to be avoided. Supported operation systems Most ios 8.0 systems and later Most Android 5.0 systems and later LinkRay-LED-Treiber_186746-186747_EN 3/6 04/2018 Even if a device satisfies the specifications, some may not work. For the latest information on confirmed devices, please visit the Panasonic LinkRay website. 3

Light ID signal The Light ID signal is a 4PPM (Four Pulse Position Modulation). Convertion of two sets of data into a four-digit signal (4-PPM) The coded signal consists of three 0s and one 1 The light output of the LEDs will be divided into four slots The LED light output is divided into 4 time-slots, consisting of three "1s" (light on) and one "0" (light off). CAUTION: If voltage will be placed on the LED driver the LED module will be switched ON/OFF with fast speed. Safety functions of LED drivers Transient mains peaks protection: Values are in compliance with EN 61547 (interference immunity). Surges between L/N: up to 1 kv Short-circuit protection: The control gear is protected against permanent short-circuit with automatic restart function. Overload protection: The control gears have overload protection due to limitation of DC output voltage < 60 V. Please check before switch-on mains power supply that the selected LED load is suitable (see Electrical Characteristics on data sheet). Overheating: The control gears have overheating protection. The temperature reduces the output current of the control gear in the event of overheating. No load operation: The control gear is protected against no load operation (open load). If any of the above mentioned safety functions will be triggered, disconnect the control gear from the power supply then find and eliminate the cause of the problem. LinkRay-LED-Treiber_186746-186747_EN 5/6 04/2018 Assembly and Safety Information Installation must be carried out under observation of the relevant regulations and standards. Installation must be carried out in a voltage-free state (i.e. disconnection from the mains). The following advices must be observed; non-observance can result in the destruction of the LED drivers, fire and/or other hazards. Mandatory regulations DIN VDE 0100 EN 60598-1 Mechanical mounting Mounting position: Built-in: Any position inside a luminaire is allowed Independent application: Drivers are allowed to use for independent applications Mounting location: LED drivers are designed for integration into luminaires or comparable devices. Independent LED drivers do not need to be integrated into a casing. Installation in outdoor luminaires: degree of protection for luminaire with water protection rate 4 (e.g. IP54 required). Degree of protection: IP20 Clearance: Min. 0.10 m from walls, ceilings and insulation Surface: Solid and plane surface for optimum heat dissipation required. Heat transfer: If the driver is destined for installation in a luminaire. sufficient heat transfer must be ensured between the driver and the luminaire casing. LED drivers should be mounted with the greatest possible clearance to heat sources. During operation. the temperature measure at the driver's t c point must not exceed the specified maximum value. Fastening: Using M4 screws in the designated holes. Tightening torque: 0.2 Nm Electrical installation Connection terminals: Push-in terminals for rigid or flexible conductors with a section of 0.2 1.5 mm² Stripped length: 8.5 10 mm (for 186531, 186532) and 9 10 mm (for 186463, 186464) Wiring: The mains conductor within the luminaire must be kept short (to reduce the induction of interference). Mains and lamp conductors must be kept separate and if possible should not be laid in parallel to one another. Max. secondary side lead length for independent drivers: 0.8 m Polarity: Please ensure the correct polarity of the leads prior to commissioning. Reversed polarity can destroy the modules. Parallel connection: At secondary side is not allowed. Through-wiring: Is allowed; pins for L and N are doubled and internally connected to allow through-wiring. In case of through-wiring, maximum allowed current per conductor is 10 A. No. of drivers in such installations is the same as for B/C 10 A automatic cut-outs from the table under " Selection of automatic cut-outs for VS LED drivers". Secondary load: The sum of forward voltages of LED loads is within the tolerances which are mentioned in the Electrical Characteristics on the data sheet. Wiring diagram: Selection of automatic cut-outs for VS LED drivers Dimensioning automatic cut-outs High transient currents occur when an LED driver is switched on because the capacitors have to load. Ignition of LED modules occurs almost simultaneously. This also causes a simultaneous high demand for power. These high currents when the system is switched on put a strain on the automatic conductor cut-outs, which must be selected and dimensioned to suit. Release reaction The release reaction of the automatic conductor cut-outs comply with VDE 0641, part 11, for B, C characteristics. The values shown in the following tables are for guidance purposes only and are subject to system-dependent change. No. of LED drivers The maximum number of VS LED drivers applies to cases where the devices are switched on simultaneously. Specifications apply to single-pole fuses. The number of permissible drivers must be reduced by 20% for multi-pole fuses. The considered circuit impedance equals 400 mω (approx. 20 m [2.5 mm²] of conductor from the power supply to the distributor and a further 15 m to the luminaire). 5

Assembly and Safety Information Selection of automatic cut-outs for VS LED drivers Type Ref. No. Automatic cut-out type and possible no. of VS drivers pcs. No.: 149820) or ESB-16HS (Ref. No.: 149821) inrush current limiters. Signal reception performance for Light ID Depending on the criteria below, the signal reception performance will vary. Please design the brightness to match the application environment (especially the surrounding lux level). A panel or an object that is illuminated by a LinkRay spotlight will be better able to reflect (transmit) the Light ID the larger and brighter it is. The quality of the reflected signal will be stronger the brighter the illumination is with a minimum of shadowing. Lux level The signal reception performance will improve the brighter the illuminated surface is. We recommend a lux level of two times or more compared to the surrounding lux level. Size of the illuminated object The signal reception performance will increase the larger the object on a smartphone is. Signal reception will be better from locations that are farther away if the object is larger. Design of illuminated object White or a light colour is best for transmitting the Light ID. A bright object is particularly well suited. Dark colours like black, grey, navy blue, etc. should be avoided. The white or light colour's area should be 50% or more of the total area. It is best prefeable to ensure that the white or light colour area is longer than taller. Designs like long vertical lines, horizontal stripes, etc. should be avoided. The reception performance will vary depending on the smartphone model being used Barcode reader If a laser-type reader is used on the Light ID modulator it will not be able to read the barcode or it will be misread. This cannot be avoided, so please ensure that the person making the installation is aware of and understands this point. There are multiple types of barcode readers such as CCD types, laser types, etc. Our research has shown that there are some laser types with a misread percentage of a few percent while there are other types which are not affected by ambient lighting such as Light ID. However, we have not been able to confirm the effects with CCD types. Warnings when filming with a camera LinkRay-LED-Treiber_186746-186747_EN 6/6 04/2018 There is the possibility that a flicker effect will occur when using digital cameras, video cameras, etc. As the light emitted from a Light ID sign flashes a signal at a high speed, cameras with a high shutter speed (example: 1/1000 sec.) will record black lines in the image. 6
