Troubleshooting Q1. There is a "LightPenII cannot be found" message. A: Check the following things. 1. Confirm that the USB cable is connected securely and that the USB port is functioning properly. zif the following warning appears, connect the projector and the computer using the included USB cable, and then restart the program. zwhen using Windows, if the LightPenII icon appears like (A) below, the USB connection is not functioning. In this case, confirm that the USB cable is connected securely and that the USB port is functioning properly. The LightPenII is functioning when the LightPenII icon appears like (B). zwhen using Mac OS X, if the LightPenII icon appears like (C) below, the USB connection is not functioning. In this case, confirm that the USB cable is connected securely and that the USB port is functioning properly. The LightPenII is functioning when the LightPenII icon appears like (D). Some antivirus software disables USB ports. Set such software so that it does not disable USB ports. 2. The USB cable might not be suitable. Use the cable included with the projector. If you need to use a longer cable, please contact the retailer where you purchased this product. 3. The USB port is not working properly. Confirm that the USB port is functioning correctly. If it is not functioning, please consult with an expert. When using a notebook computer, reduced battery capacity can result in USB ports not working. If this should occur, use AC power. Moreover, some notebook computers are unable to supply the standard current level of 500 ma from USB ports. In addition, some USB converters will not work properly. In such cases, use the included USB cable. 20

Troubleshooting (continued) Q2: When calibrating the LightPenII, the green + mark will not turn black so I cannot proceed. A: This could be caused by one of the following. 1. Check the following. zdoes the pen or pointer have enough battery charge? zis the tip of the pointer or pen in shadow on the screen? If the sensor cannot detect the LED in the tip of the pointer or pen, it will not function. Do not put the pen tip in shadow. The recommended angle is 25º. 2. The surrounding light might be too bright. Move light sources further away from the CMOS sensor and screen. This problem occurs frequently in the following situations. zsunlight is entering through a window near the screen zthere is a light source near the sensor or screen 3. When using Windows Vista or Windows 7, the + mark at the bottom left of the screen might be hidden by the start icon. In this case, place the tip where you expect it to be and press the button. Q3: The tip of the pointer and the mouse pointer position are not the same. A: This could be caused by one of the following. 1. Calibration was not conducted accurately. 2. After calibration, the projector or screen was moved. 3. The computer resolution was changed. Recalibrate in any of these cases. Q4: The mouse pointer jumps around regardless of the movement of the pointer tip. A: This could be caused by one of the following. 1. There might be interference from a strong light nearby. Block nearby light from reaching the screen. (See Q2 above.) 2. Since remote control use can cause malfunction, do not use one when using the interactive functions. Q5: When the computer is restarted from standby mode, LightPenII does not work. A: When a computer is put into standby mode, its USB ports might be shut down. Quit the LightPenII program once and then restart it. (See Q1 above.) 21

Troubleshooting (continued) Q6: Why does this message appear? Strong lighting in the environment may cause light pen to stop functioning normally. A: The surrounding light is too bright. Interfering light can appear white as shown below. Move those light sources or the screen, turn the lights off, use curtains or try other means to prevent such interference. 22
