Brantz Rally Timer PLUS BR32+ The Rally Timer should be on every-ones basic equipment list for any entrant into rallying from Scatter Rallies, Road Rallies, Historic Rallies to Stage Rallies. Being exactly the same height and display size as the Brantz Range of International Tripmeters this unit sits along side them perfectly and is an invaluable piece of equipment; whether you are just trying to make it round the route, or when there is only a second in it. As well as 24Hr, 12Hr, Second Counting and a Decimal Timing System, the Brantz Rally Timer has 4 separate stopwatch functions consisting of: 1. 2. 3. 4. v1.16q Standard Stopwatch Start, Stop, Reset, Freeze Stopwatch (inc Time of Day Hold) Regularity Stopwatch Start, Stop, Reset, 32 second Hold of Stopwatch (inc Time of Day Hold) with automatic Restart in the background. Jogularity Cumulative Stopwatch Start, Stop, 32 second Hold of Stopwatch (inc Time of Day Hold) with continued stopwatch counting in the background. Standard Cumulative Stopwatch Start, Stop, reset, Hold Stopwatch (inc Time of Day Hold) with continued stopwatch counting in the background.

Set Up & Operating Instructions Wiring: Connect up to the vehicles 12 volt power supply as directed by the label on the black power lead coming out of the base of the Rally Timer. This is BROWN to the POSITIVE Terminal and GREEN/YELLOW to the NEGATIVE Terminal. Connect straight to the vehicles battery posts via a 2 Amp fuse on the live (+12V) wire (Fuse Not Provided Available separately from Brantz). The BLUE wire, if present, is not used. It is important you always connect directly to the battery terminals rather than the chassis or fuse panel etc. Setting the Clock (Top Display): Press the 'Time Set' button the hour digit on the far left will start to flash. Press the 'Start/Stop' button to increase the value of the flashing digit if required. Press the 'Reset' button to select the next digit on the right (10's of mins) it will now start to flash (edit as above). Press the 'Reset' button again to select the next digit on the right (units of mins) it will now start to flash ready for editing. Tip: Set the minutes to the next full minute. e.g. Current Time: 12:32:34 Set Clock to: 12:33:34 Press the 'Reset' button to move onto the seconds, then hold the 'Start/Stop' button down, this sets the seconds to '00', release this button when the current time reaches the next full minute e.g. 12:33:00 When the correct Time has been achieved, press the 'Time Set' button again to exit the setting mode. STOPWATCH MODES The Rally Timer has the following 4 stopwatch modes: CLOCK 1: Standard Stopwatch CLOCK 2: Regularity Stopwatch CLOCK 3: Jogularity Cumulative Stopwatch CLOCK 4: Standard Cumulative Stopwatch Mode Selection: To switch between the 4 different modes Press 'C' and then 'F2'. Repeat to jump to the next mode and so on.

CLOCK 1 - Standard Stopwatch Operations: With the Rally Timer in the 'CLOC-1' mode Start the stopwatch by pressing the Remote Button (or Start/Stop Button on the fascia) at the Start of the Rally Stage. The stopwatch will count up in Seconds and then Minutes e.g. 02.23 is 2 mins 23 seconds. When The Rally Timer stopwatch is counting, the LED on the 'Start/Stop' button should be RED. At the end of the stage, again Press the Remote Button (or Start/Stop button on the fascia) once to pause the Stopwatch and also hold the Time for noting down. When the Rally Timer Stopwatch is paused, the LED on the 'Start/Stop' button will flash Red/Green. A second press of the Remote Button (or Start/Stop button on the fascia) will re-start the stopwatch from where it left off and the top display will return to the current time. If you hold down the Remote Button the Top Display will return to the Current Time and the Stopwatch will return to 00.00, alternatively press the 'RESET' button on the fascia. CLOCK 2 - Regularity Stopwatch Operations: In this mode the stopwatch is always running internally and the Rally Timer Stopwatch displays will HOLD for approximately 32 seconds, whenever the Remote Button is pressed. At this moment the stopwatch is INTERNALLY RESET to zero and RESTART counting from 00.00 thus immediately timing the next section. With the Rally Timer in the 'CLOC-2' mode Start the stopwatch by pressing the Remote Button (or Start/Stop Button on the fascia) at the Start of the Rally Stage. At your Timing Control Point, press of the Remote Button, this holds the Time and the Stopwatch for 32 seconds. During this time the LED on the 'Start/Stop' button with flash Red/Green to indicate that the readouts are held. The 32 seconds hold period allows the Co-Driver to confirm the Time given by the Timing Marshal is correct. When the 32 seconds is up, the top display returns to the current time and the bottom display will display the 'Section Time' which commenced timing the last time the remote reset button was pressed e.g. 00.32 This 32 seconds 'hold' can be interrupted by pressing the 'Start/Stop' button on the face of the unit. This is useful should you immediately need

sight of the current time (Standard Rally Time) and the expired stopwatch time on that next section. If you press the 'RESET' button on the fasica the Top Display will return to the Current Time and the Stopwatch will return to 00.00 CLOCK 3 Jogularity Cumulative Stopwatch Operations: In this mode the stopwatch is always running internally and the Rally Timer Stopwatch displays will HOLD for approximately 32 seconds, whenever the Remote Button is pressed. At this moment the stopwatch will INTERNALLY CONTINUE COUNTING, thus keeping track of the total/cumulative time. With the Rally Timer in the 'CLOC-3' mode Start the stopwatch by pressing the Remote Button (or Start/Stop Button on the fascia) at the Start of the Rally Stage. The stopwatch will count up in Seconds and then Minutes e.g. 02.23 is 2 mins 23 seconds. When The Rally Timer stopwatch is counting, the LED on the 'Start/Stop' button should be RED. At your Timing Control Point, press of the Remote Button, this holds the Time and the Stopwatch for 32 seconds. When the Rally Timer stopwatch is paused, the LED on the 'Start/Stop' button will flash Red/Green. As with the Regularity Stopwatch the 32 seconds hold period allows the Co-Driver to confirm the Time given by the Timing Marshal is correct. When the 32 seconds is up, the top display returns to the current time and the bottom display will display the 'Total Cumulative Time' which commenced timing from the first 'Start' press. This 32 seconds 'hold' can be interrupted by pressing the 'Start/Stop' button on the face of the unit. This is useful should you immediately need sight of the current time (Standard Rally Time) and the expired stopwatch time on that next section. If you press the 'RESET' button on the fasica the Top Display will return to the Current Time and the Stopwatch will return to 00.00 CLOCK 4 - Standard Cumulative Stopwatch Operations: With the Rally Timer in the 'CLOC-4' mode Start the stopwatch by pressing the Remote Button (or Start/Stop Button on the fascia) at the Start of the Rally Stage. The stopwatch will count up in Seconds and then Minutes e.g. 02.23 is 2 mins 23 seconds. When The Rally Timer stopwatch is counting, the LED on the 'Start/Stop' button should be RED.

At the end of the stage, Press the Remote Button (or Start/Stop button on the fascia) once to hold the Stopwatch and also hold the Time for noting down. When the Rally Timer stopwatch is paused, the LED on the 'Start/Stop' button will flash Red/Green. A second press of the Remote Button (or Start/Stop button on the fascia) will release the hold function and the bottom display to show the 'Total Cumulative Time' since the initial start, and the top display will return to the current time. If you hold down the Remote Reset Button the Top Display will return to the Current Time and the Stopwatch will return to 00.00, alternatively press the 'RESET' button on the fascia. Additional Functions: Power Off: Press 'C' and then HOLD F3 until the displays are no longer illuminated. Power On: Press the Start/Stop button Button Selection: The WHITE buttons are selected as default The RED buttons can be selected by first pressing the 'C' button. (N.B. After approx 4 seconds the default White button state will resume GREEN LED.) The LED will turn Orange whilst the RED buttons are active, see below. The button selection choice is shown by the colour of the LED in the Start/Stop button. Green Light = TIME SET / RESET / START/STOP Buttons active Orange Light = F1/ F2 / F3 Buttons active Additional Modes: Second Counting Mode: In this mode the decimal point disappears from the lower display and the stopwatch will counts up in seconds only, instead of the usual seconds/minutes format. This facility is useful for historic rallying or other activities which require a simple seconds count. To activate Second Counting Mode Press the 'Reset' button on the face of the unit and HOLD for 1 second, the bottom display with alter to show a single digit on the right, 0. All other Stopwatch/Rally Timing functions act as normal- See above. To de-activate the Second Counting mode Press again and HOLD the 'Reset' button on the face of the unit for 1 second, the

bottom display will alter to show 00.00. Mode Check: To check which mode your Rally Timer is currently in; press the 'C' button and then F3 the Top display will scroll initially with the word OFF then the Rally Timer Mode i.e. CLOC-2 then the Time Expression i.e. 24-Hr This can only be done when you are not timing, if you are in the middle of timing you can check the clock mode only with a single press of the 'C' button which will briefly display the Stopwatch mode on the top display i.e. CLOC-1' Display Dimming: Press 'C' and then HOLD F3 until the display has dimmed sufficiently there are 3 different brightnesses available. Time Expressions: There are 3 different expressions available for timing 24 Hour (Default) 12 Hour 10 Hour (Decimal Timing where the day is divided into 10 decimal hours with each hour containing 100 decimal minutes and 100 decimal seconds in a decimal minute. Please Note: This function only works on the Standard Stopwatch Mode (CLOC-1) Midnight is 00.00.00 in ALL modes. To change between these modes Press 'C' and then F1 To Re-Initialise the Clock (e.g. after a dramatic electrical event): Disconnect from the power source Hold 'C' whilst reconnecting the power and then release 'C'.

Trouble-Shooting: Electrical Interference Please read this first Electrical interference (EMI) coming from your car can affect your Brantz equipment in a variety of ways, although we are constantly updating our products to guard against this, some interference is too strong to guard against in the equipment itself and must be suppressed within your vehicle. Symptoms such as: displays zeroing themselves or restarting on their own freezing of the entire unit clock displaying 888888 are all typical of EMI (Electrical Magnetic interference) most likely coming from your electronic ignition. You will need to fit suppression to remove the EMI that is attacking your Brantz Tripmeter. If you have copper cored plug leads fitted you need to start with these and fit suppressed leads (Like the Magnacor E/Sport 7 or 8mm). Generally we would advise investigating most likely sources of interference such as: Plug Leads (we would always advise suppressed plug leads other than on magneto driven cars) mentioned above The Generator (Alternator/Dynamo/Magneto) The Coil Fuel Pump Suppressors for each of these items are readily available. Ensure : Your unit has the latest updates from Brantz Rally Meters You have the unit connected directly to the battery terminals not the chassis, ignition or cigarette lighter. You have checked for Interference from HT Leads/Pumps/Horn/Wipers/Dynamo/Alternator You have checked and double checked your connections. You have tested the Rally Meter away from the vehicle on a separate battery (i.e. on a work bench) - this is a good indicator as to whether the vehicle is interfering with the electronics of the unit. Make sure your vehicle inc ignition are OFF If you are having problems please see our Trouble-Shooting guide available at www.brantz.co.uk, contact your supplier or contact us directly on sales@brantz.co.uk or Phone: 0044 (0) 1625 669366
