L07 - Introduction to the PlantPAx Process System for Operations and System Engineering Lab PUBLIC PUBLIC - 5058-CO900G
PUBLIC PlantPAx System Operations and Engineering Lab This is a 2 part lab: Operations or Engineering. 1. The student should read through the descriptions of the two parts of the lab and decide which section they wish to complete first. 2. Use the host desktop icons to start the appropriate image: LxxOper or Lxx-Eng 3. Then go to the corresponding section of the lab document: Operations Engineering
PUBLIC Part 1 - Operations In this part of the lab you will be acting as a control system Operator in a process plant. You will be working in a simulated plant environment to illustrate some examples of standard control capabilities, features and functions of the PlantPAx system.
PUBLIC 4 Operator Navigation and Faceplates The application has been built using the PlantPAx Process Objects available from the Rockwell Automation Knowledgebase which were developed to allow the user to quickly automate process applications. The lab user will step through the various tabs on the Process Object faceplates to monitor and control the plant.
PUBLIC 5 Alarms and Interlocks Alarms are critical to plant operations. Playing the role of an operator, you will learn how to use the PlantPAx displays to identify and respond to alarm conditions and view alarm configuration data. The user will also learn how to monitor and respond to interlock conditions using PlantPAx Process Objects.
PUBLIC 6 Operator Trending and Alarming Trends are critical to monitoring the process. Playing the role of an operator, you will learn how to interact with trend displays and will add pens for live data process data.
PUBLIC 7 Operator Batch and Sequence Control This session also provides you with an opportunity to explore the Batch Management and Control capabilities of PlantPAx from a user s perspective using Logix Batch and Sequence Manager (LBSM). Playing the role of the operator, you will experience controlling and troubleshooting a running batch and a sequencing process production using the PlantPAx System.
PUBLIC Part 2 - Engineering In this part of the lab you will be acting as a control system Engineer in a process plant. You will be working in a simulated plant environment to illustrate examples of standard control engineering capabilities, features and functions of the PlantPAx System.
PUBLIC Adding a Storage Tank Updating the Code This lab is presented from the perspective of the controls engineer who is tasked with adding a new storage tank to the application. This will include adding a discharge valve, a pump and level indication. The lab user will act as the controls engineer and use RSLogix5000 TM software to add the function block logic for the valve and the pump associated with the new storage tank.
PUBLIC Adding a Storage Tank Updating the Graphic The lab user will then update a graphic screen to include the new tank, valve and pump. The lab user will then test the new function block logic by using faceplates to operate the devices and fill and empty the simulated tank. The lab user will use FactoryTalk View Studio software to copy and paste a new storage tank to the Storage Tanks graphic screen.
