Peoria County Front Desk Map Application Quick Guide, 2017 At a First Glance This guide will tell users all they need to know about the Peoria County Front Desk application which can be found on the Peoria County GIS website (http://www.peoriacounty.org/gis). This application can also be found on the new Peoria County GIS open data website (https://data-peoriacountygis.opendata.arcgis.com). When opening the application, users will notice a disclaimer. To exit out of this screen, click the (x) in the upper right hand corner or click anywhere in the application. Below is the default map which appears when first opening the application. This may change based on settings that can be set personally for everyday use. That feature will be discussed later in the document.

Center Toolbar At the middle/top of the application, users will see the toolbar below: *Map Layers will be explained later in this quick guide Quick Search After clicking the Quick Search a window will pop up: To make a search, select a field and type in a search. The tool will select and zoom to the feature searched. The search will also bring up the details of that parcel or specific feature. Users can search many different fields by pulling down the All Fields bar. Bring up what was previously searched by clicking the History bar. Create a new selection, add to current selection, or remove a specific selection by switching one of the radio buttons. Identify Identify is used for finding information about a specific feature on the map. To identify a feature, at least one layer must be turned on in the map. Click on Identify in the toolbar and then click a feature on the map. A window will pop up displaying three options; identify, details, and map. If more than one layer is turned on, multiple results could be displayed due to features overlapping. Toggle Next or Prev to move back and forth between identified features. For example, if the parcels and subdivisions layers were turned on and a parcel in a subdivision was identified, the identify window would display 1 of 2 meaning one feature from the parcels layer was identified and one feature from the subdivisions layer was identified. Click on details to get more information about the layer identified. Click on map to collapse the window and view the entirety of the map.

Street View Users can view street level imagery of the area searched using Google Street View: Click within 150 feet of a street and a window will pop up to show what the area looks like. Users are able to move up and down the street. Below will show a street map of that area. Click on Large View to look at a full screen view. Community Info Click on Community Info in the toolbar and it will ask the user to click on the map. After clicking on the map, a window will open with a list of information about the parcel such as zoning, nearest educational centers, tax districts and more. Backward and forward button. Hide: will hide the toolbar that is below. Zoom In: will manually allow users to zoom in on the map. Another option is to use the wheel on the mouse. Zoom Out: will manually allow users to zoom out of the map. Users can also use the wheel on the mouse. Full Extent: if zoomed into a certain area on the map, this will zoom out to the full view of the county. Previous Extent: when moving from area to area in the map, this will bring users to the previously viewed location on the map. When viewing several locations, the Next Extent button can be used to move forward to the another location.

Print When clicked the window to the right will appear: Users are able to set their own map scale or continue with the one in the current view. Choose the proper paper size and orientation. Choose between creating a PDF or a JPG image. If the information on a parcel is on the screen, users can choose to print a data table as well. Main Toolbar The next toolbar, found in the upper left-hand corner of the application is the most important: Search When users click on the Search button, they will get four options: Search: functions just as the Quick Search tool. Select on Map: users can choose a selectable layer to select features on a map using a point, line, or shape. Users can also search for all of the features in their current extent or by using a buffer distance. Advanced Search: allows users to pick a layer and select the attributes of that layer choosing specified criteria. Sales Search When users click on Sales Search, this box will appear on the left of the screen: Pick the Property Type of single-family, multi-family, or condo. Users can find the region they would like to search in by picking it on the map, drawing the area, or searching within a distance of a point selected on the map. Set parameters by typing in the subject, minimum, and maximum of each of these variables: o Structure in Square Feet o Lot Size (acres) o Year Built o Bedrooms o Bathrooms o Market and Sale Price Set sale date from one month to five years or choose the exact dates to search through. Choose house style using the drop-down menu. Lastly, click on search and it will find sales records within the parameters chosen. *Sales search will only find residential sales and valid sales within a five-year period

After performing a search, there will be an assorted amount of data and options to choose from: After performing a search, property or other information is displayed. Clicking the CSV button will download a CSV (excel) file. Users can create a mailing label for one or more addresses. Users can view photos and sketches of the property. By pressing Property Report or Tax Information, it will display property tax and building information about the parcel. Community Info will provide information as if the user had pressed the Community Info option and clicked the parcel. Clicking Sales Search will open the sales search window for the parcel. Clicking Sales History will bring up the sales report for that parcel if available. Owner History is available for the parcel. The Recorder Information link will open the Deed Document search. Clicking on Map Links will take users to the Google and Bing maps aerial image. Maps When clicking on the Maps button, these eight options will appear: Map Themes: this is another location to the Map Themes. Basemaps: contains all of the different basemaps users can use for the county including the aerial photographs and default county basemap. Map Layers: contains the dynamic layers that can be turned on and off, viewed, and identified for attributes. Thematic Maps: creates thematic maps based on different layers and attributes within that layer. The method, number of classes, and color can be used in enhancing the map. Legend: will display a simple map legend for the layers that are turned on in the map application. Overview Map: will display a zoomed out map view of the searched location. Bookmarks: preset areas in the county, when chosen, can zoom a user to a specific area. Users can also save their own bookmarks. For example, if viewing a parcel, a user can save the view as a bookmark and reference it at a later time. Print: allows the option to print the currently viewed map to paper, PDF, or JPG. The area to be printed will have an orange outline. This is the same as the print in the center toolbar.

Tools Map Themes By clicking Map Themes in the toolbar, users will be provided with a list of preset options for maps based on departmental needs. Each option turns on certain layers that will be beneficial to the user. Users can also save their own theme by turning on the layers needed and clicking the button Save layer settings. This is located in Maps Map Layers then at the top. This will bring users back to the map theme they have turned on or any other layers turned on in the process. This can be beneficial when users know what layers they need to use every time. More In this section, users can choose between eight different options: Users will be provided with six choices in the tools toolbar: Identify: works the same as the Identify button in the center toolbar. Community Information: works the same as the Community Info button in the center toolbar. Street View: works the same as the Street View in the center toolbar Draw: will allow users to draw on the map using points, lines, or shapes. Can add text, change colors, sizes, and add preset shapes. Measure: will allow you to measure by area or length on the map. Can also find coordinates or search to a known coordinate on the map. Sign In: Users with a login can sign in and access internal information. Help: will show how to use the website on a mobile or desktop device. Create Map Link: will create a hyperlink to the current map in that area. Map Links: will take users to Google Maps or Bing Maps. Contact Us: will send an email to the GIS Division for any questions, comments, or concerns. Peoria County Home: this link will route users to the County homepage. Peoria County GIS Home: this link will route users to the Peoria County GIS homepage. Assessment Complaint Forms: this link will route users to the Supervisor of Assessments Office website to file a property assessment complaint.
