In your pack you should find all the below items. Your fibre Stand router Grey & yellow cables Power supply 2

What next? Your fibre start date It is important that you do not plug in this router until the engineer has completed the fibre installation. Or, if you do not require an engineer visit because you have already had a fibre connection before, please do not connect your router until the date we have informed you your services will go live. Your internet connection with your current provider (if you have one) will stop working as soon as you unplug their equipment. Don t worry if you do unplug it though, your previous broadband connection will be re-instated when you plug in their router again. If you have had fibre broadband before If you, or someone at your property, has had a fibre broadband connection before, whether it is current or not, you are likely to have a BT Openreach master phone socket that looks like the one in the picture below. This type of socket is pre-filtered and optimises the speed of your internet connection without the use of additional filters. If your master phone socket looks like the one in the picture, please move to page 5 to see how to connect your router. If you are new to fibre If you have never had fibre broadband in your premises, an engineer visit will be arranged with you to install the fibre broadband, including the fibre socket. If you are awaiting this visit, place this equipment pack away somewhere safe till the day of your appointment. If your master socket does not look like the one in the picture, please keep reading. 3

New to fibre? You should have already received confirmation of your engineer appointment. Please make sure that you are available to let them into your property on the agreed date. If you are not available on the agreed day of installation and the engineer is unable to gain access to your property, you will be charged a missed appointment fee. There may be some disruption to your phone line whilst the engineer is working, so please ensure you have a mobile phone available should you need to make a phone call. The engineer will install a new master socket and connect the all-in-one router and modem found in this kit. Your old router and microfilter will no longer be required for your new fibre service. Once the engineer has completed the setup, you should test your phone line to make sure that it is working correctly before they leave. 4

How to set up your router 3 2 4 1 Please attach the stand before plugging in any cables for ease of connection. 1. Connect the power supply to the power socket on your router and into an electrical mains socket. 2. Connect the grey cable into the grey DSL port on the router and into the TOP port on the BT socket. 3. Press the power button on the back of your router. The router lights will flicker briefly. Please have a 10 minute break while your broadband is activating. 4. Connect devices directly into your router using the yellow cable. Plug one end into one of the yellow sockets on your router and the other into the network port of your device. Or, to connect your devices wirelessly, simply follow the instructions on page 7. 5

How to set up your router From this point onwards you should keep your router switched on. Switching off your router will affect the broadband performance. If any of the power, broadband or internet lights remain red after 10 minutes then there is a potential connection issue that the Fleur broadband support team can help you with. Just give them a call on 0333 320 4020 for assistance. Want to get the most from your broadband? Please visit the FAQs section of our website. Under the Guides tab, you can find our useful guide called How to Get the Most from your Broadband. It provides an explanation for multiple factors which can affect broadband speeds, such as: multiple users; range; location and interference; plus the devices which can improve coverage in the house, and wireless security. 6

How to connect your devices To connect your devices via Wi-Fi To connect your internet-enabled devices such as smartphones, laptops, tablets, smart TVs and games consoles to the Wi-Fi network, please follow the steps below: 1. Make a note of your network name and wireless key. These can be found on the sticker on the bottom of your router, and on the Keep Me Card which came in the box along with your router. Please keep this safe in case you need to log into your router or connect more devices wirelessly in the future. 2. Search for the network name on your device. 3. Once you have found the right network and selected it, you will be prompted for a password or security key this is your wireless key. 4. Enter your wireless key and you should be connected to your home Wi-Fi network. Alternatively, if you have a QR reader on your device, you can use the QR code on the Keep Me Card to connect. If you are not sure how to connect your devices to the Wi-Fi connection, please consult the user manual for your device or operating system (e.g. Windows, Mac). 7

How to connect your devices To use WPS Alternatively, if you have a WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) enabled device and would like to connect to Wi-Fi using WPS, please follow the steps below: 1. Use the Settings option of your device to enable WPS. 2. Press & hold the WPS button on the top of the router for a few seconds. 3. Wait until the WPS light on the top of the router is green. 4. Your device will connect automatically to the router. Data extension kit (home wiring solution) The fibre service needs to be installed directly to the master telephone socket in your house. It may be that this is tucked away in an inconvenient location, and if so, you can ask the BT Openreach engineer to install a Data Extension Kit so they can move the installation socket to somewhere more suitable. It is worth considering this if the current position is not very centrally located, as using this option to move the router to a better location will help to achieve a more consistent wireless performance in your home. Please ask the engineer for more information during their visit. There is no charge for this service. 8

Having trouble connecting? Can t seem to connect? Follow our quick checklist below to try and fix your problem. If you have previously connected your devices using the yellow Ethernet cable and now want to connect wirelessly, please ensure that you unplug the cable from the router before you switch to Wi-Fi. The wireless key (password) is case sensitive, so please ensure that you enter it exactly as it is shown on the bottom of your router. If you are struggling to connect your devices to your Wi-Fi network, please make sure that Wi-Fi connectivity is activated on your device. You will find this in your settings or by pressing a particular key on your computer. Still having problems? Call us today on 0333 320 4020 8am-8pm Monday-Friday & 9:30am-6pm Saturday and Sunday 9

Factors which can affect broadband Multiple Users The speed of the wireless router is limited. If there are several people in the house using multiple devices over Wi-Fi at the same time, the service will slow down. Downloading files, watching videos and real-time gaming all use a lot of bandwidth and will perform better on wired connections where possible. Range Wireless routers can only reach so far. If you have a big house or your walls are very thick and you have the router on one side of the house, you might not be able to access the network from the other side. Your range, like your speed, is impacted by a number of factors: the type of construction of your property, thick walls between rooms and metal radiators next to the router. Location Routers may be ugly, but that doesn t mean you should hide them behind the TV cabinet. If you want the best signal, you ll need it out in the open, free of any walls and obstructions. Point the antennae perpendicularly, and elevate the router if you can. Lastly, make sure it s in the centre of your house, so you have the best coverage possible throughout your home. Interference If you have neighbours, their routers may be interfering with yours and causing the signal to degrade. Wireless routers can operate on a number of different channels, and you want yours on a channel with as little interference as possible. The routers are set to automatically seek the clearest channel to operate on (based on the location of the router). At long distances from the router, interference may still be encountered. Other routers aren t the only thing that can cause interference. Cordless phones, microwaves, flashing Christmas lights and other appliances can interfere with your signal as well. Try moving your router farther away from potentially interfering appliances. 11
