Installation and Removal Table of Contents IMPORTANT READ FIRST BEFORE INSTALLATION 102 Single-user Installation 103 Network Installation 106 Removal of X-Ray 3.0 108 101

IMPORTANT: Read these instructions fully before beginning the X-Ray 4.0 Database System installation. Determine your X-Ray configuration: Is yours a Single User or Network Installation? There are two different configuration options for installing the X-Ray 4.0 Database System. A Single- User installation is for an individual desktop or laptop computer, used by only one person. A Network installation involves a file-server computer and any number of connected workstation computers, enabling multiple-user access. Determine your configuration before beginning installation. Determine what Version of Microsoft Access you are running. The X-Ray 4.0 program uses a runtime version of Microsoft Access. As a result of the recent updates that have been made to Microsoft Access 2007 and Microsoft s newest operating system, Vista, we have created two separate installation paths. In order to properly install, it is important to note which version of Microsoft Access you are running. While Microsoft Access is a component of the Microsoft Office Suite of Products, it is only installed if you have the Professional version of the product. You should be able to see if you have any version of Microsoft Access on your system by going to Start, then Programs, then Microsoft Office on your list of installed programs. If you do not see Access 2007 under Microsoft Office on your computer, proceed with the Standard Installation. (The CD version of the installation program automatically does the interpretation for you.) Two Steps for Installation: Setup and Data Load. Installation of the X-Ray 4.0 Database System consists of two steps: the Setup of the X-Ray Database System, then the Data Load of the actual X-Ray data. The Setup procedure installs the X-Ray 4.0 Database System s programs and supporting files on your computer. The Data Load procedure loads the actual advertiser revenue data. The Setup program is standardized for all stations, whereas the Data Load uses custom data for each market and station. After you set up the X-Ray Database System, it will not operate until you Load the data. Ready to begin? To begin installation, follow the instructions on the following pages based on your desired configuration: Single User or Network. 102

Single-User Installation First, close all applications running on your computer. Insert the X-Ray Database System Version 4.0 CD- ROM into your CD-ROM Drive. (If you are installing from the Miller Kaplan website, using the web-based installation, note that there is a separate version for users that have Access 2007 installed on their systems. All others should use our Standard Installation.) If your system has the Autorun feature enabled, the InstallShield Wizard will appear. If the InstallShield Wizard does not appear, you will need to do the following: Right-click on the Start Button and select Explore. Browse for your CD-ROM drive where the CD is currently inserted. Double click Setup.exe to launch the installation. You will be asked to type in your User Name and your Organization. You can specify that anyone who uses the computer can access the data, or that only you can access it. (The default is Anyone.) Then click on Next to continue. You will be prompted for a Database Folder. The X- Ray Database System programs and databases will be installed in C:\MKA by default. We recommend that you keep this setting for the Single User Installation. This path would be changed if you were to install in the Network environment described later. Click Next to continue. 103

You will be asked to choose the type of installation you want. Choose the New option, then click Next to continue. Setup will then say Ready to Install the Program. Review the installation settings you have chosen, and if correct, click Install to begin the installation. The software will install on your computer. It will take several minutes. You will see the progress on the screen. Upon completion, you will see a message that the InstallShield Wizard has completed the process, and the X-Ray Database System Version 4.0 was successfully installed. Click Finish, and the InstallShield Wizard will close. 104

Data Load for a Single User Start the X-Ray Database System. Click on the icon on your Desktop called X-Ray 4.0 Database System. You will first see a screen telling you that X-Ray has to initialize database connections. Click on the OK button. After the introductory screen, you will see the Load Data Screen. Click on Begin Load to load your data. Click on the down arrow next to the Look In box to browse for the drive and folder that contains your customized database load. A Windows browser box will appear. You are prompted to select the folder and open INITLOAD.TXT. Locate the file on your computer and highlight the file INITLOAD.TXT. Click the Open button. The file will automatically begin processing. You will see the progress of the initial load. Note that loading may be a lengthy process. It is a much slower process than Setup, depending on the amount of revenue data to be loaded. Please be patient. Upon completion of the Load, you will see a Database Load Completed message. Click on the Close button. The X-Ray Database System will close. You can now click on the X-Ray 4.0 Database System icon to open the program. You re in business! 105

Network Installation. Setup for a network requires you to determine the file server where the databases will be located and identify the workstation computers to run the X-Ray Database System. On your file server, select a folder that will be accessed by all users of the X-Ray Database System. Create this folder if it does not already exist. Use your network s administrative software to ensure that all users have access privileges to read and write files to this folder. Prepare the Workstations At the workstation, close all applications running on your computer. Insert the X-Ray Database System Version 4.0 CD-ROM into your CD-ROM Drive. (If you are installing from the Miller Kaplan website, using the web-based installation, note that there is a separate version for users that have Access 2007 installed on their systems. All others should use our Standard Installation.) If your system has the autorun feature enabled, the InstallShield Wizard will appear. If the InstallShield Wizard does not appear, you need to right click on the Start Button and select Explore. Browse for the CD-ROM drive where the CD is currently inserted. Double click Setup.exe to launch the installation. You will be asked your username and organization. You can specify that anyone who uses the computer can access the data, or that only you can access it. (The default is Anyone.) Then click Next to continue. You will be prompted for a Database Folder. For a network installation, the program is installed on each workstation, and the data is installed on the file server. Click on the Change button, and search for the drive and file folder where the data will be installed. Click Next to continue. 106

You can now browse to find the database file you have created on the file server. Make sure that the path in the Folder Name box is correct, and then click OK. Upon completion, you will see a message that the InstallShield Wizard has completed and the X-Ray Database System Version 4.0 was successfully installed. Click Finish. 107

Data Load for Network Installation The X-Ray 4.0 Database System will not operate on the network until the Data Load has been performed. The Data Load is performed only once, from any installed workstation. Go to an installed workstation with the custom data. To start the X-Ray Database System. click on the icon on your desktop called X-Ray 4.0 Database System. After the introductory screen, you will see the Load Data Screen. Click on the Look In drop-down box to browse for the drive that contains your customized database load. A Windows browser box will appear. You are prompted to select the drive and the folder and open INITLOAD.TXT. The file will automatically begin processing. You will see the progress of the initial load. Note that loading may be a lengthy process. It is a much slower process than Setup depending on the amount of revenue data to be loaded. Please be patient. Upon completion of the Load, you will see a Database Load Completed message. Click on the Close button. The X-Ray Database System will close. Note about X-Ray 3.0 and X-Ray 4.0 X-Ray 3.0 and X-Ray 4.0 are able to co-exist. As there is a great number of additional items that have been included in X-Ray 4.0, we are only able to issue data going back two years. Should you like to retain historical information that you might have captured during the use of X-Ray 3.0, we recommend that you do not uninstall the X-Ray 3.0 application, as we will be unable to process that information for you again in the future. Should you wish to uninstall X-Ray 3.0, we recommend that you go through the add and remove programs icon that exists in your computers control panel. During the add and remove process, you may encounter an error that says Unable to locate Office1.CAB in the proper folder. If you click Cancel, the uninstall will continue and be completed, with the exception of removing the desktop icon, which you can delete manually. 108
