The 140 multiple-choice questions are based on the TExES standards that are specific to the content area chosen. This exam is one indicator of completer success in developing the knowledge and skills expected of candidates enrolled in each of these programs. Brief Analysis of Findings: School counseling candidates have maintained an extremely high pass rate on the state certification exam. A benchmark goal of 100% of school counseling candidates passing the state certification exam has been achieved. It can be noted that candidates have been prepared for success on the School Counselor TExES through a theoretical and practical based curriculum that emphasizes the candidate s understanding and skills in relation to an established standard of domains and competencies and promotes equity in excellence for all learners. The trend displayed in the domain comparison indicates that Domain I and Domain II will need to be addressed with faculty in order to gain performance growth for 2015-2016. Competency 7 (Assessment) has been identified as one area that needs improvement. Faculty and adjuncts in the school counseling program reviewed couse syllabi and aligned learning-centered outcomes with TExES standards and competencies in their designated syllabi which reflected continuous improvement on the TExES candidate s scores. Based on the continual review of TExES data, course materials are revised and enhanced to better meet the candidates understanding of the domains and competencies required of an entry level counselor. Results from the TExES are used for the program to address any deficiencies and to enhance test preparation and program delivery.

The School Counselor and Reading Specialist programs maintain a 100% pass rate for the 2015-2016 and 2016-2017 academic years. Those taking the Ed Leadership Principal exam were not quite up to the 80% pass rate in the 2015-2016 academic year but came up to the required percent by the 2016-2017 academic year. The Educational Diagnostician is a relatively new program and is being watched closely to review specific areas needing strengthening. The pass rate did increase 10% by the 2016-2017 academic year which indicates a positive response to the changes made to strengthen the weaker areas of the program.
