With low latency, front-to-back cooling and rear-facing ports, this family of data centre switches is designed for transitioning to 10 Gigabit Ethernet and deploying a converged fabric that can handle LAN, SAN and server cluster networks over a single link. Moreover, as the need for a converged infrastructure grows, dual-port adapters are available that provide both Ethernet and Fibre Channel (FC) connectivity over 10 GbE using both Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE), Converged Enhanced Ethernet (CEE) and IEEE Data Center Bridging (DCB) standards. HP StorageWorks 2408 Converged Network Switch HP StorageWorks 2408 Converged Network Switch provides a reliable platform that helps reduce cable clutter, equipment acquisition costs and operational costs associated with power consumption and cooling. The switch features a 1U form factor and low power consumption, delivering a greener data centre. HP StorageWorks 2408 FCoE Converged Network Switch features 8 FC ports for 8 Gbit/sec performance along with 24 Ethernet ports for 10 Gbit/sec performance. The 10 Gbit Ethernet ports support CEE which increases the reliability, efficiency and scalability of Ethernet networks. These features allow support of multiple traffic classes over lossless Ethernet fabric, thus enabling consolidation of LAN, SAN and cluster environments. HP Nexus 5000 Converged Network Switches The HP Nexus 5000 Converged Network Switch family, using cut-through architecture, supports line-rate 10 Gigabit Ethernet on all ports while maintaining consistently low latency independent of packet size and services enabled. It supports a set of network technologies known collectively as IEEE DCB that increases the reliability, efficiency and scalability of Ethernet networks. These features allow the switches to support multiple traffic classes over a lossless Ethernet fabric, thus enabling consolidation of LAN, SAN and cluster environments. Its ability to connect FCoE to native FC protects existing storage system investments while dramatically simplifying in-rack cabling. There are two Nexus 5000 models. The HP Nexus 5020 is a two-rack-unit, 10 Gigabit Ethernet, FCoE and FC switch built to provide 1.04 terabits per second (Tbps) throughput with very low latency. It has 40 fixed 10 Gigabit Ethernet and FCoE ports. Two expansion module slots can be configured to support additional 10 Gigabit Ethernet, FCoE and/or FC switch ports. The HP Nexus 5010 is a 1U, 10 Gigabit Ethernet, FCoE and FC switch providing more than 520-Gbps throughput with very low latency. It has 20 fixed 10 Gigabit Ethernet and FCoE ports. One expansion module slot can be configured to support additional 10 Gigabit Ethernet, FCoE and/or FC switch ports.
