Phased Approach for 5G Launch NTT DOCOMO, INC., Copyright 2015, All rights reserved. 4 Considering both aspects of ITU-R submission and commercial requirements in Japan, we propose following phased approach for 5G 5G: Work plan for 5G deployment in 2020 5G key technologies introduced to existing spectrum bands and new spectrum bands lower than 6 GHz potentially with unlicensed bands Among all ITU-R requirements, MBB (mobile broadband) related requirements (e.g., peak data rate, capacity) should be prioritized Specifications should be ready no later than end of 2018 5G+: Work plan for ITU-R submission Full optimization of 5G key technologies to achieve very high performance targets to satisfy all ITU-R requirements Introduction of higher spectrum bands above 6 GHz Stable specifications at the end of 2019 should be submitted to ITU-R
