INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS To install WIFI extender you will first have to open top cover. Once you open it you will notice IMPORTANT instructions on a label with following warning: WARNING: DO NOT PLUG PoE CABLE TO ANY PORT EXCEPT PORT 1 AS IT WILL DAMAGE DEVICE AND WILL VOID A WARRANTY. DO NOT POWER WIFI EXTENDER OVER POWER INPUT (8-30 VDC) AND PORT 1 (PoE) AT THE SAME TIME AS IT WILL DAMAGE DEVICE AND WILL VOID A WARRANTY. WIFI Extender is equipped with five LAN ports and power connector. Port 1 is Power over Ethernet (PoE) capable. It will accept data and power in the same time via single Ethernet cable so you will not need separate power supply to power WIFI Extender. Only Port 1 is PoE capable! If you plug PoE cable in Port 1-4 you will probably damage device that will void a warranty. In a following chapter we will explain multiple ways to connect WIFI Extenders. www.yachtrouter.com 6

11.1. Connecting WIFI Extender to Yacht Router Mini Yacht Router Mini support only one WIFI Extender. There are two ways to connect WIFI Extender to Yacht Router Mini: 1. Using Gigabit PoE injector and Extender power cable (1 to bare wires) As Yacht Routers are not equipped with PoE port you will have to use Gigabit PoE injector (male, CAT5P-02, order separately) and Extender power cable (PSP-03, order separately) to combine data and power into single Ethernet cable. Plug one end of Extender power cable to female power connector on Gigabit PoE injector. The other end with bare wires connect directly to Yacht Router power connector as is it shown on a following photo where BLACK WIRE WITH WHITE STRIPE is positive and BLACK WIRE WITHOUT STRIPE is negative (ground). Positive wire is marked with sticker too. Plug Ethernet connector of Gigabit PoE injector into BACKBONE port on Yacht Router Mini. WIFI Extender will only work if it is connected via BACKBONE port. WARNING: WRONGLY CONNECTED CABLES CAN DESTROY YACHT ROUTER AND WIFI EXTENDER THAT CAN VOID THE WARRANTY. DO NOT POWER WIFI EXTENDER OVER POWER INPUT (8-30 VDC) AND PORT 1 (PoE) AT THE SAME TIME AS IT WILL DAMAGE DEVICE AND WILL VOID A WARRANTY. Female connector on Extender power cable Extender power cable (PSP-03) Yacht Router power supply cable Ethernet cable on Gigabit PoE injector is plugged into BACKBONE port on Yacht Router Gigabit PoE injector (CAT5P-02) 2. Using separate power supply If you do not want to use Power over Ethernet (PoE) solution you can directly power WIFI Extender with dedicated AC/DC power supply (PSA-01, order separately). You can also provide direct DC power (8-30 V). AC/DC power supply (PSA-01) plugged directly into WIFI Extender www.yachtrouter.com 7

11.2. Connecting WIFI Extender to Yacht Router Standard Yacht Route Standard support unlimited number of WIFI Extenders. The easiest way to connect WIFI Extender to Yacht Router Standard is with Gigabit PoE injectors (female, CAT5P-03, order separately). Yacht Router Standard is equipped with three DC power outputs marked as DC OUT 1, 2 and 3. You can use this power outputs to directly plug power connector from Gigabit PoE injector. Ethernet connector from Gigabit PoE injector plug into BACKBONE port. As one BACKBONE port and one DC output will be occupied with Gigabit PoE injector for Remote Vessel-to-Shore WIFI module you can use remaining two. It means that you will be able to directly plug two WIFI Extenders into Yacht Router Standard. DC outputs on Yacht Router Standards are powerful enough to power multiple WIFI Extenders on remote locations. Voltage on DC outputs is 24 VDC. Gigabit PoE injectors (female, CAT5P-03) connected to Yacht Router Standard 11.3. Connecting WIFI Extender to Yacht Router Pro Yacht Route Pro support unlimited number of WIFI Extenders. The easiest way to connect WIFI Extender to Yacht Router Pro is with Gigabit PoE injectors (female, CAT5P-03, order separately). Yacht Router Standard is equipped with six DC power outputs marked as DC OUT 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6. You can use this power outputs to directly plug power connector from Gigabit PoE injector. It means that you will be able to directly plug five WIFI Extenders into Yacht Router Pro. DC outputs on Yacht Router Pro are powerful enough to power multiple WIFI Extenders on remote locations. Voltage on DC outputs is 24 VDC. www.yachtrouter.com 8

11.4. Connecting single WIFI Extender via PoE Ethernet cable Once you connected all necessary cables on Yacht Router side it is time to connect it on a WIFI Extender side. If you have used Gigabit PoE injector on a Yacht Router side and you plan to connect single WIFI Extender then all you have to do is to plug Ethernet cable into PORT 1 (PoE) on WIFI Extender as it is shown on a following photo. WARNING: DO NOT PLUG PoE CABLE TO ANY PORT EXCEPT PORT 1 AS IT WILL DAMAGE DEVICE AND WILL VOID A WARRANTY. DO NOT POWER WIFI EXTENDER OVER POWER INPUT (8-30 VDC) AND PORT 1 (PoE) AT THE SAME TIME AS IT WILL DAMAGE DEVICE AND WILL VOID A WARRANTY. 11.5. Connecting multiple WIFI Extenders via PoE Ethernet cables Yacht Router Standard and Pro support multiple WIFI Extenders. It gives you ability to built complete network infrastructure for vessel of any size. You can use star and chain topology for your vessel networks. You can also use combination of both. To make complex networks you will need Extender cable splitters and Gigabit PoE injectors. On a following examples we will explain few possible connections. 1. Two WIFI Extenders in chain connection Extender power cable splitter (1 to 2, PSP-02) inject power to WIFI Extender and second Gigabit PoE injector Second Gigabit PoE injector (male, CAT5P-02) combines data and power for next WIFI Extenders Gigabit PoE injector (female, CAT5P-03) separate power and data from CAT5 (PoE) cable. 12. SETUP PROCEDURE Once you connect all WIFI Extenders to vessel network you must Synchronize WIFI Extenders. It is simple on-time process that you can do from Yacht Router Control Software from any supported system (Windows, Android, ios). We strongly suggest to use computer (Windows OS ) that is connected to the Yacht Router via Ethernet (LAN) cable to any Vessel Network port. If you are not using WIFI connection to the Yacht Router it could happened that you lost connection once you start synchronizing process as Yacht Router will temporary disable WIFI networks on WIFI Extenders. For more details read chapter 12.1. All Ethernet ports on WIFI Extender are part of BACKBONE network by default. You can reconfigure this setup with Yacht Router Configuration Tool. This software is supplied on USB stick that you received with the package. You can also download it from Yacht Router website www.yachtrouter.com. With Yacht Router Configuration Tool you can also setup WIFI transmission power of each WIFI Extender. It is sometimes necessary to limit transmission power to prevent overlapping of multiple WIFI Extenders. 12.1. Synchronizing WIFI Extenders Once you start Yacht Router Control Software click SETUP. Once you enter SETUP screen click Configuration under General Setup section. You will not enter Configuration screen. Under WIFI Extenders section you will see list of serial numbers of WIFI Extenders connected to the vessel network. Now click on SYNCHRONIZE EXTENDERS button and confirm. After few moments all WIFI Extenders connected to the vessel network will synchronize with the Yacht Router. BACK - back to Setup menu Serial numbers of WIFI Extenders connected to vessel network SYNCHRONIZE EXTENDERS button - once you click on it clink CONFIRM to synchronize WIFI Extenders 12.2. Reconfiguring WIFI Extenders To reconfigure default Ethernet port configuration on WIFI Extender you have to use Yacht Router Configuration Tool installed on computer with Windows operating system. This software will give you ability to assign each LAN port to Vessel Network of your choice. Only PORT 1 (PoE) cannot be reconfigured as it is permanently assigned to BACKBONE network. By default all WIFI Extender Ethernet ports are part of BACKBONE network. For instructions how to use Yacht Router Configuration Tool visit our website www.yachtrouter.com. www.yachtrouter.com 11
