DO NOT POWER WIFI EXTENDER OVER POWER INPUT (8-30 VDC) AND PORT 1 (PoE) AT THE SAME TIME AS IT WILL DAMAGE DEVICE AND WILL VOID A WARRANTY. WIFI Extender is equipped with five LAN ports and power connector. Port 1 is Power over Ethernet (PoE) capable. It will accept data and power in the same time via single Ethernet cable so you will not need separate power supply to power WIFI Extender. Only Port 1 is PoE capable! If you plug PoE cable in Port 1-4 you will probably damage device that will void a warranty. In a following chapter we will explain multiple ways to connect WIFI Extenders. www.yachtrouter.com 6
11.1. Connecting WIFI Extender to Yacht Router Mini Yacht Router Mini support only one WIFI Extender. There are two ways to connect WIFI Extender to Yacht Router Mini: 1. Using Gigabit PoE injector and Extender power cable (1 to bare wires) As Yacht Routers are not equipped with PoE port you will have to use Gigabit PoE injector (male, CAT5P-02, order separately) and Extender power cable (PSP-03, order separately) to combine data and power into single Ethernet cable. Plug one end of Extender power cable to female power connector on Gigabit PoE injector. The other end with bare wires connect directly to Yacht Router power connector as is it shown on a following photo where BLACK WIRE WITH WHITE STRIPE is positive and BLACK WIRE WITHOUT STRIPE is negative (ground). Positive wire is marked with sticker too. Plug Ethernet connector of Gigabit PoE injector into BACKBONE port on Yacht Router Mini. WIFI Extender will only work if it is connected via BACKBONE port. WARNING: WRONGLY CONNECTED CABLES CAN DESTROY YACHT ROUTER AND WIFI EXTENDER THAT CAN VOID THE WARRANTY. DO NOT POWER WIFI EXTENDER OVER POWER INPUT (8-30 VDC) AND PORT 1 (PoE) AT THE SAME TIME AS IT WILL DAMAGE DEVICE AND WILL VOID A WARRANTY. Female connector on Extender power cable Extender power cable (PSP-03) Yacht Router power supply cable Ethernet cable on Gigabit PoE injector is plugged into BACKBONE port on Yacht Router Gigabit PoE injector (CAT5P-02) 2. Using separate power supply If you do not want to use Power over Ethernet (PoE) solution you can directly power WIFI Extender with dedicated AC/DC power supply (PSA-01, order separately). You can also provide direct DC power (8-30 V). AC/DC power supply (PSA-01) plugged directly into WIFI Extender www.yachtrouter.com 7
11.2. Connecting WIFI Extender to Yacht Router Standard Yacht Route Standard support unlimited number of WIFI Extenders. The easiest way to connect WIFI Extender to Yacht Router Standard is with Gigabit PoE injectors (female, CAT5P-03, order separately). Yacht Router Standard is equipped with three DC power outputs marked as DC OUT 1, 2 and 3. You can use this power outputs to directly plug power connector from Gigabit PoE injector. Ethernet connector from Gigabit PoE injector plug into BACKBONE port. As one BACKBONE port and one DC output will be occupied with Gigabit PoE injector for Remote Vessel-to-Shore WIFI module you can use remaining two. It means that you will be able to directly plug two WIFI Extenders into Yacht Router Standard. DC outputs on Yacht Router Standards are powerful enough to power multiple WIFI Extenders on remote locations. Voltage on DC outputs is 24 VDC. Gigabit PoE injectors (female, CAT5P-03) connected to Yacht Router Standard 11.3. Connecting WIFI Extender to Yacht Router Pro Yacht Route Pro support unlimited number of WIFI Extenders.
