Horizontal communication is supported by GOOSE. Standardized horizontal communication GOOSE = Generic Object Oriented Substation Event. GOOSE is used to broadcast events to peer IEDs in a substation. IEDs can share any kind of process data. Ethernet technology offers a fast and reliable station bus for transfer of data.
