These are provided via GMetrix; a specialist online system that closely simulates the MOS exam experience. As with the exam itself, the practice tests use the actual Office 2010 application (eg Word 2010, Excel 2010 etc) so you will first need to have Office 2010 on your PC. You can use the practice tests with a choice of testing or training modes. These are further explained in this guide. Please note that the GMetrix system is not provided or supported through learndirect. It is an entirely separate online service. To access the practice tests, you will need to follow the instructions below to download the software and register an account with GMetrix. It should take just a few minutes to get up and running. In the event that you experience any issues, a troubleshooting and technical support guide is provided at the end of this document. Once you have installed the GMetrix software and used your activation key (contained in the email from learndirect), you will be able to login to the practice tests up to 100 times within 12 months of your initial purchase. When you take a practice test, you will be able to choose from several banks of questions. NOTE You must close all applications for the version of the Office application for which you are taking the practice test: e.g. Word 2010, Excel 2010 etc.

Your access code is provided in the email from learndirect, along with your exam voucher. Figure 6: Enter an Access Code Copy the access code in the box shown in Figure 6 above (overwriting any existing text) and click Next,. The code will be validated. Step 4: Taking a Test 4.1) Once you have selected your test, the GMetrix Online Action Learning Software offers a choice of two modes Testing Mode and Training Mode. These are explained below. Running GMetrix MOS 2010 Online Action Learning Software v1.0 (October 2012) learndirect edition PAGE 7 number of questions are presented and must be carried out within the allotted time (specified to you at the start of the test). At the end of the test you will receive a Score Report, identifying how you have performed against the objectives of the test and any skills gaps that you should work on. Training Mode: Training Mode allows you learn by doing. GMetrix presents you with questions that ask you to carry out specific tasks in the relevant Microsoft Office application. Unlike Testing Mode, you are allowed access Help and you will get instant feedback after every question which will allow you repeat the questions you get incorrect with step by step instructions from GMetrix and learn from your mistakes. Testing Mode is not timed and is designed as a learning tool. Note: Both modes are referred to as Tests throughout this guide and in the application itself. 4.2) Having selected the training mode, you will then be prompted to choose from a bank of questions. When you start a GMetrix test, the corresponding MS Office 2007 or 2010 application will launch. Note: In order to run the Outlook 2010 Module you will need Administrator Rights to the PC. 4.3) The first question will appear on the bottom portion of your computer screen as shown in Figure 7 Figure 7: Test Interface

User Account Control can be found in your Windows Security Centre. 4.5) You can exit a test at any time by clicking on the X in the bottom right corner of the question box. You will then be asked if you want to Save the test for later, Finish, or Resume at this point. If you save the test, you can log in later and resume the test at the point where you saved it. Resuming the test can also be done on a different computer. 4.6) Upon completing a test, it will immediately be scored, and the results will be presented. You can print these results for later reference. 4.7) You can also view your results online by logging in at www.gmetrix.net with your GMetrix Username and Password.
