LightViper Components VIM-1032 The VIM-1032 is used on the tail end of the optional system splits, to feed a monitor console, broadcast truck, or recording system. The VIM-1032 is exactly the same as the VIM-1832 with two exceptions - the VIM-1032 does not have inputs and cannot be a clock master in the system. This unit has (32) outputs and (0) inputs. VIM-1808/0808 The VIM-1808 / 0808 combination is an 8x8 fiber optic transport system. Both units are identical except the 1808 contains both the internal clock as well as a clock in connection while the 0808 does not. There are (8) analog line level inputs OR (8) AES digital inputs, and (8) analog line level outputs AND (8) AES digital outputs, all on DB25 connectors. The VIM-1808 & VIM-0808 contain a primary transmit (Tx) and return (Rx) pair of fiber optic connectors. These devices come standard with Neutrik opticalcon connectors. The VIM-1808 contains the system clock which can be switched to operate at 48k or 96k. There is an external clock input on the VIM-1808, allowing it to slave to an external clock. There are word clock & super clock outputs on both units, all on BNC connectors. The VIM-1808/0808 both contain a control port. This TTL data port is used to connect LightViper accessory devices such as DMX4 (DMX lighting control) & MD-3 (RS-232/MIDI/RS422), allowing these data types to be transported on the same fiber as the audio returns. The VIM-1808 & VIM-0808 are fan cooled and operate at 90VAC - 250VAC via a standard IEC connector. EF-2 The EF-2 is a two channel Ethernet to fiber converter. These devices are used in pairs with one converting Ethernet to fiber, and the other converting fiber back to Ethernet. The EF-2 will accept (2) independent channels of 10/100 Ethernet (In/Out) on (2) Neutrik ethercon connectors, and (2) fiber optic connections (In/Out) via (2) pairs of Neutrik opticalcon connectors. It converts the Ethernet signals into two (2) fiber optic transmit/receive pairs on one end, and converts the fiber optic transmit/receive pairs back to Ethernet on the other end. There is a choice of three operating configurations - standard Ethernet using Transmit (TX) and Receive (RX) pairs; two (2) channels of single direction Ethernet (TX-only) - or a combination of both modes. The EF-2 ignores packet structure and data content, thus facilitating transparent use with AVIOM s Pro16 Monitor Mixing System, CobraNet EtherSound or any Physical Layer Ethernet. The EF-2 is convection cooled and operates at 90VAC 250VAC via standard IEC connector. The EF-2 can also be DC powered with a 9-18 VDC supply using the provided DC power connectors. 3

LightViper Components VIM-MY32 Card Series Fiber-Optic YGDAI cards for Yamaha digital consoles The MY32 YGDAI Cards enable users of Yamaha digital consoles and devices containing YGDAI card slots to interface with LightViper VRK-1832 & VIS-4832 devices via direct digital fiber-optic input to the console, yielding a completely digital fiber optic link. VIM-MY32M This master card provides (16) inputs (sends from stage) to the console, and (8) outputs (returns to stage). The VIM-MY32M can be fit with opticalcon, ST, Neutrik Duo, Neutrik Quad or TAC4 fiber optic connectors. For systems containing more than (32) input channels, the master card contains (2) Neutrik opticalcon optic pass thru connectors, allowing channels 33-64 to be connected via fiber to a second master card. The VIM-MY32M contains a 48k master clock, and can either send clock to the console and distribute it to the rest of the system (master), or accept external clock from the console and distribute it to the rest of the system (slave). The VIM-MY32 cards operate only at 48k. VIM-MY32S This slave card is connected to the master card via a Neutrik minicon cable. There are no fiber optic connectors on the VIM-MY32S. By using a combination of VIM-MY32M (master) and VIM-MY32S (slave) cards you can achieve a variety of configurations as follows: (1) VIM-MY32 master - 16x8 system using (1) card slot (1) Master and (1) Slave card - 32x8 system using (2) card slots (2) Masters and (1) Slave card - 48x16 system utilizing (3) card slots (2) Masters and (2) Slave cards - 64x16 system using (4) card slots The VIM-MY32 cards distribute word clock throughout the system (similar to using the LightViper VIM- 1832) and can transport Yamaha RS422 control (with DGL-422 dongles or a 9 pin to 9 pin control cable) to remotely control Yamaha AD8HR microphone preamps on stage when paired with a LightViper VIS-4832. The VIM-MY32 cards can also transport DMX lighting control (using a pair of DMX4 units). RS422 control for a Yamaha LS9 is provided on the back plane of the MY32 card itself as there is no control output connector on an LS9. A toggle switch on the slave card chooses whether the RJ45, 9 pin, or internal control connection (LS9) is active. VIM-2032 The VIM-2032 has been designed for applications where VIM-MY32 cards are being used. There can be situations where a VIM-MY32M master card is used without a mating slave card due to a lack of card slots. The VIM-2032 acts as a slave card that provides (32) channels of analog AND (32) channels of digital output, enabling the user to gain access to (32) channels of output. This includes channels 17-32 that would have been on the mating slave card channels PLUS a (16) channel split of the channel 1-16 inputs coming into the master card. One application would be to use outputs 17-32 of the VIM-2032 and input these into the XLR mic inputs of the Yamaha console, thereby gaining the ability to retrieve all possible channel inputs available on the console even with a lack of available card slots. The VIM-2032 contains a single Neutrik opticalcon thru connector (transmit only) allowing all data coming into the device to be output on fiber and transported to another location. The VIM-2032 can operate at 48k only. The VIM-2032 must be connected to a system containing a VIM-MY32M YGDAI card which provides clock to the system. There are word clock and super clock outputs on BNC connectors and a Neutrik MiniCon connector used for connecting the VIM-2032 to a VIM-MY32M master card. The control connection is a TTL data port which appears on an ethercon connector. It allows LightViper accessory devices such as the DMX4 (DMX lighting control) or MD3 (RS422/232/MIDI) to be connected to the unit,, as well as Yamaha RS422 control using the DGL-422 dongle connecting the D9 on the console to the ethercon connector. 4

Accessories DMX4 Lighting Control Multiplexer The DMX4 lighting control multiplexer consists of two units; the DMX4i input unit and the DMX4o output unit. These devices allow the transport of (4) universes of DMX lighting control, or (3) universes plus Yamaha RS422 control from FOH to stage on the same fiber as the (8) audio returns. No additional fiber is required to add DMX4 units to your system. Each unit contains (4) 3-pin XLR and (4) 5-pin XLR inputs / outputs, a 9 pin connector for Yamaha RS422 control. Neutrik ethercon connectors on both the front and rear panel provide the interface with LightViper VRK-1832, VIS-4832 or VIM-1808/0808 devices. Power for the DMX4i and DMX4o is derived from the LightViper device to they are connected to. There are ethercon connectors on the front and rear panel wired in parallel, so you can choose either connector to connect your system depending on what is most convenient given your rack configuration. These units are normally sold in pairs, one DMX4i and one DMX4o. MD-3 The MD-3 is a multiple control interface device for translating RS- 422, RS-232 or MIDI control signals through the TTL control port on LightViper Series 32 devices, allowing these data types to be transported on the same fiber as the audio returns. The MD-3 has (3) three connectors on its front panel: RS-422, MIDI, and RS-232. The rear panel contains (3) three RJ45 connectors and a single switch. The switch is used to determine whether MIDI is being sent or received. The MD-3 derives power via the connection between the RJ-45 control connector on the LightViper device and the RJ-45 connector on the MD-3. The MD-3 is used in pairs with one MD-3 required at each end of the system. 5

Accessories Fiber Connector Panel Options VPL Panels These 1U panels allow mounting of various tactical & non-tactical fiber optic connectors, as well as many other types of connectors. Flush-Mount Wall Box Option VBZ-1832 The VBZ-1832 is an optional flush mount wall box version of the VRK-1832. The VBZ-1832 consists of a steel back box with adjustable mounting brackets. The VRK-1832 is mounted on a panel that is fit to the back box. The VBZ-1832 back box contains a single gang AC junction box with knock outs for connecting conduit for the AC run. There are also knock outs in the back box for connecting conduit housing the install fiber. An LC patch bracket is supplied that attaches to the back box. Stage Box Option VIS-1832 The VIS-1832 is an optional interface, normally used as the head end (stage) device. It is intended for applications where analog mic/line level inputs will be used. It contains (32) analog inputs on Neutrik Combo connectors. Each input contains a 3 position gain switch for each input that sets the gain of the mic-pre. The normal settings for these switches are as follows: 0 = line level, 26 = mic level, 12 = high transient / very hot mic level. Each input has an associated LED indicator which begins flashing red 3dB before clipping. There are (4) +48v phantom power on/off switches that activate phantom power in groups of (8). There are (8) analog line level outputs (returns) on XLR connectors. The VIS-1832 contains a primary transmit (Tx) and receive (Rx) pair of fiber optic connectors. An additional (2) splits (transmit only) are included. The VIS-1832 will operate at 48k or 96k. It comes standard with Neutrik opticalcon connectors. It also contains a control port. This TTL data port is used to connect LightViper accessory devices such as the DMX4 (DMX lighting control) & MD-3 (RS-232/MIDI/ RS422), allowing these data types to be transported on the same fiber as the audio returns. The VIS-1832 operates at 90VAC - 250VAC via a Neutrik powercon connector. Custom Works FiberPlex can accommodate many custom requests. We can fit units with single mode optics rather than multi-mode (standard on 1832, 4832 and 1808/0808 systems). We can fashion stainless steel chassis and provide conformal coating of circuit boards for harsh salt water environments. We can provide custom cable lengths and configurations, or a variety of connector types. If you have custom needs or unique applications, please call us to see what we can do for you. 6
