Helpful Tools Filter Panel Overview A filter panel is available on most transactions within Unit Trains (reports, calendar, and inquiries). It contains the criteria that can be used in multiple combinations on given transactions to limit (filter) what results display. A filter panel is automatically displayed when a transaction is first selected from the menu. It can also be opened by clicking on (highlighted in the example at right). To close the panel, click again. The most commonly used criteria will always appear in the same static location on the filter panel (regardless of transaction), with those not available for use greyed out. Select values on the filter panel via the various filter types (described in more detail in the next section), and then click to execute the transaction using the filter criteria. A powerful feature of the filter panel is the ability to save a set of filter criteria with a user-determined name as a Saved Report for future use. Checkbox Filter This filter type is used primarily as an ON / OFF switch signaling whether or not to include items associated with the checkbox label in the results. For example: the BAD ORDER checkbox on Fleet Inquiry is checked when cars in bad order status are wanted in the results. 2

Date Filter This filter type is a text box that allows you to enter a calendar date manually or select a date from a pop up calendar by clicking it. For example: Origin Date. If you manually key in a date, the system will accept a variety of date formats including MMD- DYY, MM/DD/YY, MM-DD-YYYY, and others. If you enter a value that AccessNS cannot determine as a valid calendar date then an appropriate error message will be displayed. If you decide to use the pop up calendar, you can navigate between months using the arrow controls (highlighted) at the top of the calendar and simply click on the calendar date you wish to use in their filter criteria. Tips and Tricks: When using date criteria, the user needs to be aware of the DATE TYPE dropdown. DATE TYPE designates which shipment date the selected date range will search in order to determine results. Dropdown Filter This filter type is a dropdown box with a pre-determined list of values. Examples include: Traffic Group, Serving Yard, and Destination Group. 3

Multi-List Filter This filter type is a multi-item select box with a pre-determined list of values. Examples include: Account Manager and Destination. You are allowed to pick multiple values by clicking on each filter value. Multi-Search Filter This filter type is a text box that allows you to enter search strings for dynamically generated selection values. Examples include: Receiver, Shipper, and Origin. As you begin to type, AccessNS will automatically display a pop up listing values that match your search. You can then pick an item from the pop up list by clicking the filter item. Tips and Tricks: The ORIGIN filter criteria will accept numbers or text. If numbers are entered, then it searches the origins by the assigned mine number (Coal commodity only). If text is entered, then it searches both the origin name and origin city for matches to the text. This provides flexibility if only the origin name or origin city are known. Radio Buttons Filter This filter type is a multi-selection that allows one choice of several options by clicking a small radio button next to an item. Radio buttons are typically used in conjunction with standard text boxes to determine what type of search criteria is being entered. For example: radio buttons are used in Fleet Inquiry with text box input to determine if a City/State or Car Id is entered as search criteria. 4

Transaction Specific Filter Some transactions (such as Fleet Inquiry) will require more than the standard filter criteria due to the specific nature of the transaction. Any transaction-specific filter criteria will display at the bottom of the filter panel below the standard criteria whenever a transaction is executed. Managing Saved Reports One feature of any filter panel is the ability to save the search criteria as a Saved Report under a defined name. Additionally, if the transaction is dashboard-compatible, then the saved report will be available for use on the dashboard. Once all the various filter criteria are set, that report can be saved with a specified name. These saved reports are stored under the user s account and are not available to anyone other than the user who created them. Once the name is entered in the SAVE AS field and FAVORITE is optionally selected, click at the top of the filter panel (see highlights to right). In the example to the right, a Shipment Listing filter criteria has been built showing all closed customer shipments that loaded in May 2017 by a specified shipper. Once satisfied with the results, this report was saved with a user defined name and made a favorite. AccessNS will display that the report has been saved (shown right), and the report will be added to the list of saved reports for the current transaction on the right hand side of the filter panel (shown above). 5

Managing Saved Reports [continued] To run a saved report at a later time, navigate to the transaction via the dropdown menu, pull up the filter panel, and click on the name of the saved report from the LOAD SAVED SEARCH list. Once displayed, the filter criteria can be modified if needed. At this point, you can click at the bottom to run the report, or with the new criteria before running. To delete a saved report, navigate to the transaction via the dropdown menu, pull up the filter panel, click on the name of the saved report from the LOAD SAVED SEARCH list, and (once displayed) click on the button at the top. AccessNS will remove the saved report from the list and discard the saved filter criteria. My Reports My Reports - Overview & Location While saved reports for each transaction are saved within their area, they are all available in one location in the MY REPORTS area. Trains > My Reports Favorite Reports Reports that are tagged as Favorites will be listed and sorted by their saved name. Additionally, if the transaction is dashboard-compatible, then the report will be available for use on the MY REPORTS dashboard. 6

Saved Reports SAVED REPORTS are sorted by category and by name. Clicking on the arrow to the left of the category will show the saved reports in that category. Clicking on the name of the report (example: Fleet Inquiry) will open the report in a new tab within MY REPORTS. Reports in this area will function the same as in their own area. Report tabs can be closed by clicking the on the top right corner of the tab.
