The version will be displayed in the window that opens. Install Steps Note: The following steps apply to all supported versions of OS X. This document was created on a system running OS X 10.7 (Lion) and as a result there may be slight variances in how certain items are displayed. Also, please note that the install steps will only need to be performed one time. Steps to access virtual desktops once the software has been installed will be detailed later in this document. Launch your preferred web browser (Safari, FireFox, etc). For the purposes of this document all steps will be completed using the built in web browser, Safari. In the address bar type vdi.bjc.org then press Return. When the page finishes loading you will see the link to download the VMware View Client. Click on View Client (6 MB) to begin the download. 5

In Safari, there will be no prompt or confirmation to download. The file will automatically download to the Downloads folder. You can view the status of the download by clicking the down arrow in the upper right corner of the browser as pictured below. When the download has completed, open a Finder window and navigate to the Downloads folder. The Downloads folder is located in your Home directory (displayed as your user name with a house icon). (Finder Icon) Double-click VMware-viewclient.dmg to launch the installer. In the first screen that appears, click Agree. 6

A new window will open that displays the contents of the VMware-viewclient.dmg file. Drag the VMware View Client to your Applications folder to install it. In the Applications folder, double-click VMware View Client to launch the application. 7

A security warning will display upon first launch, click Open. This warning will not appear again. Another window will open indicating that additional software is required. Click Download. 8

After clicking Download, a web page will open to download the Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection Client for Mac 2.0.1. Click Download on this page to download the Remote Desktop Client for Mac. Note: This download is required for the VMware View Client to work. Wait for the download to complete. 9

When the download has completed, open the Downloads folder in Finder and double-click RDC201_ALL.dmg. The contents of the RDC201_ALL.dmg file will be displayed. Double-click Remote Desktop Connection.mpkg to begin the installation. Click Continue. 10

Click Continue. Click Continue. Click Agree. 11

Click Install. Enter your password when prompted then click Install Software. 12

When the install completes, click Close. In the Applications folder, double-click VMware View Client again. 13

When the application opens, in the address field, type vdi.bjc.org and leave the box checked for Use Secure Connection (SSL). Optionally, you can also check the box to Always connect to this server at startup. Click Continue. 14

Upon successful connection, you will be prompted to enter your NT User ID and RSA SecurID token. For RSA SecurID assistance, please see the Appendix of this document. After entering your credentials, click Continue. Upon successful authentication, you will next be prompted to enter your NT User ID and password. This will be your Windows password. Enter this information and click Continue. Upon successful authentication, you may be presented with a list of available desktops as shown below. Please note, you will not see this list if you only have access to one desktop, in this case you will be taken directly to the desktop. If you are presented with a list of available desktops, select the appropriate desktop, in this example, AMH General Medicine (No Printing) then click Continue. 15

You will receive a security warning the first time you connect to a desktop. Click Always Allow to prevent this message from appearing each time you connect. The desktop will now load. By default it will open in windowed mode. 16

If preferred, you can switch to full screen mode by selecting View > Full Screen from the RDC menu at the top of the screen. Please note, this menu is only available if the virtual desktop window is currently active. When you are ready to quit your session, you can log off or disconnect by clicking Start > Log Off or Start > Disconnect. Logging off will completely end the session; any unsaved work will be lost. Disconnecting will only close the application on your computer. The virtual desktop will continue to be available for reconnection for 60 minutes. After 60 minutes it will automatically log off. 17

Post Install Connections Once the VMware View Client and Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection Client have been installed you will not need to perform any of the install steps covered in this document again. 1. Launch the VMware View Client 2. Connect to vdi.bjc.org 3. Enter NT User ID and RSA SecurID Token 4. Enter NT User ID and Windows Password 5. If prompted, select desktop from list otherwise desktop will load 18

Appendix To request an RSA SecurID token, please contact local CIS or call the CSC at (314) 362-4700 or ext. 24700. For assistance with an existing RSA SecurID token, please contact local CIS. 19
