Overview: SMS Plus Messaging platform acts an aggregator by receiving messages from various Users, using the different types of interfaces supported (SOAP, Desktop, Web Client and HTTP) and then processes these messages and forwards them to the destination Routes. Product Features: Price based system. Pricing assignments of a user are based on a country and operator pair that validates against the coverage area of different routes. Supports multiple routing for a user for different vendors. Prefix based routing only for special prefixes. Separated HTTP and SMPP submission. Available as web service for users to send messages. Includes a desktop application for users not only to send messages but to manage they contacts, groups and distribution lists. Also includes a web interface for sending messages, viewing profile, balance and routing. Fast Delivery reports. SmsPlus is an operator wise price based routing messaging platform which allows the assignment of multiple operators to a user. A user sends the messages via the Web Client, Desktop Application, HTTP API or Web Service. The sent message is stored in the backend storage and then given to the Message processing Copyrights RouteSms Solutions Limited Page 3

engine which deals with the message sending, Delivery report processing and user credit management. Basically there are two areas under the SmsPlus messaging platform: 1. Administrator 2. User Administrator: Administrator is the super user of SmsPlus messaging platform that is authorized to perform and monitor various activities in the system. An administrator keeps track of various users created in the system and manages their credits and accounts. The various sections that a administrator manages are as follows: 1. Manage System 2. Reports 3. Live Status 4. SMPP Services Every message sent by the user is submitted to Message processing engine that ultimately forwards the message to the Gateways from which the message will be Gateway to the destination mobile number. Following are the basic entities of SmsPlus system: Gateways Routing User Administrator Message Processing Engine Copyrights RouteSms Solutions Limited Page 4

Gateways: A 'Gateway' is used to refer to a connection to any of your providers. By providers we mean short message service providers who provide you with a connection over which to send messages. The word 'Gateway' is used to refer to that connection. SmsPlus supports connections over the Short Message Peer to Peer (SMPP) protocol and Hypher Text Transfer Prototcol(HTTP) to these providers. Using 'Gateway Management' inside 'Manage System', you can add, modifies or deletes these connections. For any Gateway you will have to specify the following mandatory parameters, which are essential for establishing a connection to the provider's server:- IP Address: The IP address (e.g. 121.241.242.111) of the provider's server. Port: The port on which the provider wishes you establish your connection for sending messages. System Type: Certain providers will allow you to connect to their servers only if you provide a specific value for this field while establishing a connection with their server (sometimes as a double check with the System Id and Password). Username (System ID): The System ID or User name associated with your user account with the provider for sending messages. Password: The password to be used for authentication while establishing the SMPP connection. Receiver Port: If you choose to send messages and receive the delivery reports over different connections, then you need to specify the value on which port you wish to connect to the provider to receive delivery reports, if your provider hasn't mentioned anything explicitly, then it is the same port you use to send your messages. Enquire Link Interval: In case there aren't any messages to send, after how many seconds should an enquire link be sent so that the provider does not disconnect the connection due to no activity. Copyrights RouteSms Solutions Limited Page 5

Users: A user is an entity that sends the message by using web client/soap (Web Service)/Desktop Application/ HTTP API. These users are created by administrator and they have their own personalized areas for sending messages as discussed above. For sending messages a user needs credit which is given to them by administrator as per the credit policies. Certain actions that a client performs are as follows: 1. Manage Profile A user can change his profile by changing information like his/her login password. 2. Send SMS A user can send messages instantaneously or schedule them for a later time. User can either send Single/Group/Bulk messages by using the different message clients discussed above. 3. Online payment A user can make a direct payment by using the integrated PayPal API. 4. Job Management A user can manage his/her jobs that he has created by sending bulk/scheduled messages. 5. View Reports User can view several reports related to his/her credits and message traffic sent to the system. 6. Contacts Management User can manage contact group of mobile numbers that he/she frequently use to send messages either as a Group or a Distribution List. Copyrights RouteSms Solutions Limited Page 6

User Connectivity: SOAP: Available as a web service to use for sending volumes of messages. Desktop Application: A desktop application for your users to connect and send large volumes of messages directly. Web Client: Web interface for your users to send messages, manage contacts and view delivery reports and so on. HTTP API: An HTTP API for sending messages which your users can embed in their own applications to send messages easily without resorting to web services or SMPP. USER Web Client Desktop HTTP SOAP HTTP HTTP Processor SMPP SMPP Processor Sender ROUTES Route 1 Route 2 Route 3 Route 4 Copyrights RouteSms Solutions Limited Page 7

Routing: The routing refers to a pricing that is assigned to a user at which he/she will be charged for sending a message to a mobile number corresponding to a specific operator/provider in a specific country from a covered route in that area. In SmsPlus user wise routing is done by assigning route to an operator with a price that will be applicable for all messages that will be routed through it. This relationship is a many to many relation where a user can be assigned different routes/gateway for different operators and reversibly a same route can be assigned to different users as well. One gateway or route may operate in different areas so it is possible in SmsPlus to assign a single gateway for different operator for different users. All the pricing will be matched against the coverage map and the system will take care of all the pricing to be appropriate. There is also the provision for handling the price of some exceptional prefixes that cost more for an operator in a particular coverage area, SmsPlus includes the provision for assigning prices and routes for all such prefixes with an appropriate price which again matched against the master coverage map to provide consistent pricing. These Special prefix assignments are universal and will be same for every created user under the SmsPlus messaging platform. This condition is termed as Master Routing under the SmsPlus messaging platform and for users this will be shown as the Special Prefix Pricing. Copyrights RouteSms Solutions Limited Page 8

Administrator: Administrator is the super user of SmsPlus messaging platform that is authorized to perform and monitor various activities in the system. An administrator keeps track of various users created in the system and manages their credits and accounts. The various sections that a administrator manages are as follows: 1. Manage System 2. Reports 3. Live Status 4. SMPP Services Manage System: User Management is the part of this system which includes the creation, modification and credit management of users. Gateway Management is the part where several Gateways used by the message processing engine are managed. Routing Management is the part of this system from where the administrator adds or updates the operator wise routing to a user. Master Routing Management is the part of this system from where the administrator adds or updates the routing for some special prefixes that generally charged more compared to other prefixes for the same operator. Job Management is used to view and manage the jobs created by various users of the system that include stopping, starting and deleting user created jobs. SMS Queue Management is the area where an administrator can monitor the live SMS queue of SmsPlus messaging platform. Copyrights RouteSms Solutions Limited Page 9

Midnight balance Report This report shows the balance of a user in date wise manner. The midnight balance of a user is the closing credit balance of the user for the day which is stored every midnight. This closing balance also serves as the opening balance for next day. For example: if a user exampleuser1 is having a credit balance of 1500 at 12:00 AM on date 24/07/2011 then this 1500 will serve as the midnight balance of exampleuser1 for the date 23/07/2011. Inbound and outbound speed of sending/receiving messages. Numbers of delivery report (DLR) sent, received and queued. Inbound and outbound speed of sending/receiving delivery reports. Total number of connections to the message processing engine. Number of SMSCs connected to the system. Copyrights RouteSms Solutions Limited Page 13

Message Processing Engine: Message processing engine is the core of SmsPlus messaging platform s message sending and credit accounting. It accepts the messages from above discussed various sources available for the user to send messages and extracts the information to route the message to its specified destination by extracting the routing information from destination mobile number itself, It then calculates the amount to be deducted from user account as per the assignment done in the user routing and then forwards the message to the appropriate route. Forwarding the message to appropriate route doesn t finishes the work of message processing engine but it also receives the delivery reports for every sent message and updates the delivery status of message in the database storage of SmsPlus messaging platform. A diagrammatical presentation of a message processing system is elaborated in the give diagram: User SMS Extract country code and prefix from mobile no.
