Module 17 Browser-based Deployment Browser-based Deployment Benefits Requirements Setup Running Kofax Capture from the browser Browserbased Deployment Slide 2 Module 17 -- Browser-based Deployment Browser-based Deployment Benefits Deploy and update Kofax Capture components through a web browser. Module runs within browser window. Simplifies deployment and updating of components. Allows Kofax Capture modules to be invoked from a web browser (still a thick client). Slide 3 Module 17 -- Browser-based Deployment Page 1
Requirements Internet Explorer is the only supported browser (versions 7, 8 and 9). Other browsers such as Firefox, Chrome, Opera are not currently supported..net 4 framework is required for the installation of the clients. Administrative privileges are required for client installation (same as standard Kofax Capture). Browser-based deployment URL must be accepted as a trusted site in the web browser. Same hardware requirements as standard Kofax Capture installation. Slide 4 Module 17 -- Browser-based Deployment Browser-based Deployment Setup Steps to setup browser-based deployment include: 1. Create a fully accessible folder. 2. Create a virtual directory in IIS that links to the folder. 3. Copy all contents from the KCWebDeploy folder on the Kofax Capture media to the virtual directory folder. 4. Configure MIME types (required only if running on IIS 6). 5. Navigate to the virtual directory folder and run the setup (setup.exe and KCWebDeploy.exe). 6. Modify how Kofax Capture is to be deployed (optional). Slide 5 Module 17 -- Browser-based Deployment Create a Fully Accessible Folder Create a fully accessible folder. Create a folder Slide 6 Module 17 -- Browser-based Deployment Page 2

First, access the IIS Manager Slide 8 Module 17 -- Browser-based Deployment Create a Virtual Directory in IIS (continued) Create a virtual directory Slide 9 Module 17 -- Browser-based Deployment Page 3
Create a Virtual Directory in IIS (continued) Follow the wizard to configure the virtual directory. Link the virtual directory to the new kcdeploy folder Slide 10 Module 17 -- Browser-based Deployment Copy the Contents from the KCWebDeploy Folder Copy all contents from the KCWebDeploy folder on the Kofax Capture media to the virtual directory folder. Slide 11 Module 17 -- Browser-based Deployment Configure MIME Types Configure MIME types (required only if running on IIS 6). Configure MIME Types (continued) Open the IIS properties Slide 13 Module 17 -- Browser-based Deployment Configure MIME Types (continued) Open the MIME types window Modify the MIME types Slide 14 Module 17 -- Browser-based Deployment Run the Setup Program Navigate to the virtual directory folder and run: setup.exe url = <web server URL>/<KC virtual directory> Slide 15 Module 17 -- Browser-based Deployment Page 5
Optionally Verify the URL was Set Run the following command verify the URL was setup correctly: setup.exe url If configured correctly, a message box should pop-up reflecting the proper URL Slide 16 Module 17 -- Browser-based Deployment Modifying Kofax Capture Deployment When using the browser-based deployment feature, clients are installed as standalone workstations by default. In this default deployment configuration, the workstation is licensed separately (as a standalone station). Choosing to deploy the workstation as a client in a clientserver configuration requires modifying the deployment settings. Deployment behavior of Kofax Capture can be changed by modifying the acinsin.ini file. Slide 17 Module 17 -- Browser-based Deployment Modifying the acinsin.ini File The acinsin.ini file is located in the KCWebDeploy \ Kofax Capture 10.1 directory (and is copied into the directory created on the server). Slide 18 Module 17 -- Browser-based Deployment Page 6
Modifying acinsin.ini Modify the acinsin.ini file accordingly to change deployment settings. (For example, specifying client-server versus standalone deployment.) Slide 19 Module 17 -- Browser-based Deployment Run KCWebDeploy.exe Run: KCWebDeploy\KCWebDeploy.exe (Whenever acinsin.ini is modified, this file must be run.) Double click on KCWebDeploy.exe to run the file Slide 20 Module 17 -- Browser-based Deployment Running Kofax Capture from the Browser To run Kofax Capture from the browser, users navigate to the following URL: <web server URL>/<KC virtual directory> Slide 21 Module 17 -- Browser-based Deployment Page 7
Downloading Kofax Capture If already installed on the system, Kofax Capture will launch in the browser using Windows Presentation Foundation. If not already installed, the system will prompt to install Kofax Capture. After download, select [Run] to launch installation. (Approximately 825MB downloaded.) Slide 22 Module 17 -- Browser-based Deployment Entering Credentials For Windows XP installations, the following dialog is seen. User must provide credential with administrative privileges.
