1 Product Overview vworkspace supports a range of cloud-hosted and client-hosted application and desktop virtualization technologies. These enable the optimal delivery mechanism to be used depending on required applications, user location, client device and use case. These technologies can be cloud-hosted (RDSH, Windows or Linux VDI) on your private cloud (in your on-premise datacenter) or on a public cloud like Microsoft Azure. They can also be client-hosted (WSM) to take advantage of the processing power of the end point and minimize disruption in case of WAN failure. 1.1 Lab Preparation Considerations and Caveats It is in your best interests to ensure the demo environment you will be demonstrating is clean & tidy before you begin. For this reason we would recommend, where possible, you log in to your demo at least 15 minutes prior to delivery and check the following; 1. Familiarize yourself with the environment during this time and check any specific features you are expecting to demo. 2. Most importantly, be crystal clear with yourself on what it is you plan to show. A full demo of every feature described below (with questions) can take several hours. If you only have a short time slot be sure to focus on the key points that address the customer s pain points and will drive value home to them. 3. Ensure that you have scheduled the demo for sufficient time so as not to have the demo end before you are finished with the customer. 4 Dell Demo Center https://demos.dell.com Dell Inc., 2016

2 Introduction 2.1 Lab Topology and Essential Information The diagram provides detail on the setup of the demonstration environment. The environment provided is self-contained and has a number of virtual machines images provided for use. 2.1.1 Lab Addressing and Login Details Please pay attention to the ip addressing and login details provided. 3 vworkspace Welcome to the Demo Center vworkspace Demo. This is the landing page you should see when you first connect to your demo instance. All the details of how to login and launch are contained on the Welcome Home page. Show the functionality of the Quest vworkspace interface. The environment consists of the following: Windows 2012 AD populated with Users/Groups Windows 2012 HyperV server RDSH, Broker, Template and Desktop pre-installed. This Demo allows a user to interact with the vworkspace interface as an Admin. There is a Domain, a Windows 2012 server with HyperV, a Broker and a RDSH server installed, with a default template installed and running. You can connect to the hosted desktop from within the Demo only at the moment. 7 Dell Demo Center https://demos.dell.com Dell Inc., 2016

3.1 Launch Management Console Using the shortcut on the desktop, and the current Windows user, you can connect to the vworkspace Management console 8 Dell Demo Center https://demos.dell.com Dell Inc., 2016

4 Quick Start Wizard Once logged in you are presented with the default Quest vworkspace Quick Start Wizard. 10 Dell Demo Center https://demos.dell.com Dell Inc., 2016

5 Welcome to Wyse vworkstation As you can see the Demo environment is already populated with some basic content. You have full admin rights to demo the product, and you can build up or destroy any content inside the demo, it will be fully reset once your demo booking is complete. 5.1.1 Connection Brokers Under the Locations node you have the ability to create physical or logical locations, in the Demo we have created once called Dell Demo Center to represent the infrastructure there. Within Dell Demo Center you will see folders for the different infrastructure components. The Connection Brokers node shows you we have one broker in the Farm, called QVWBROKER. To offer High Availability a 11 Dell Demo Center https://demos.dell.com Dell Inc., 2016

minimum of two brokers is always recommend, typically you would have a connection broker for every 5,000 users. With the vworkspace Support Portal there is an article that covers the scalability of vworkspace. https://support.quest.com/solutiondetail.aspx?id=sol64491&pr=vworkspace 12 Dell Demo Center https://demos.dell.com Dell Inc., 2016

6 Remote Desktop Session Host The Session Hosts node provides you with a location to manage RD Session Hosts as well as import templates for Session Hosts to make provisioning of new RDS hosts quick and simple. The Management node is where you will find the existing Windows 2008 RD Session Host server. Within the Provisioning node you will see the template that can be used for provisioning new servers. Demo: Here we will demonstrate some of the basic admin functionality of a session host: 1) Under Locations, click Dell Demo Center > Session Hosts > Management > VIRTUAL RDSH DEMO. 2) Double click on one of the servers, the server should become un-greyed out. 3) Click on Summary to see Session Host settings. 4) Click on Sessions to see current session information. 5) Click on Processes to see processes running on that host. 6) Click on Applications to see the applications published from this host, or published to the host desktop using Microsoft App-V. 7) Click on Users, right click a username so see the available user actions. Do not initiate any of them unless you know the user account you are affecting. 13 Dell Demo Center https://demos.dell.com Dell Inc., 2016

14 Dell Demo Center https://demos.dell.com Dell Inc., 2016

7 Windows 7 Cloud Pool Under the Desktops node you will find folders for different types of Virtual Desktop, they can be described as follows: VIRTUAL DESKTOP DEMO - Non-persistent Windows 7 desktops Demo: Here we will demonstrate some basic VDI desktop admin as well as provisioning a new desktop: 1) Under Locations, click Dell Demo Center > Desktops > VIRTUAL DESKTOP DEMO. 2) Right click one of the Virtual Machines. You will see actions such as power management, restart OS, logoff User, Remote Assistance, Reconfigure VM and much more. 3) Highlight one of the Virtual Machines, right click and select Delete, ensure the first field is ticked. 4) Over the next 3 minutes you will see a Virtual Machine auto create, power on and run through the instant prep (Sysprep) routine. This is done as this pool of desktops has rules associated with it that maintain a pool of desktops automatically. 2-3 minutes is a very quick process for creating a virtual desktop, this is one of the benefits of Dell vworkspace HyperCache. 15 Dell Demo Center https://demos.dell.com Dell Inc., 2016

8 Hyper-V Integration The Virtualization Hosts node is where you configure the integration to the hypervisors being used to deliver the RD Session Hosts or Virtual Desktops. You ll see that you have the ability to integrate with Microsoft, VMware and Parallels, offering you flexibility and preventing vendor lock in. Within the DSC we are leveraging Hyper-V. Clicking on the Hyper-V node will expand to show you the hosts that are integrated with vworkspace: Highlighting one of the Hyper-V hosts provides you with the properties of that host, detailing such tems as the storage volumes, load data and templates being used. In this configuration method we are not SCVMM to manage the Virtual Desktops but instead communicating directly with the Hyper-V host. We need to do this to take advantage of our HyperCache and HyperDeploy technologies. If you highlight one of the templates, under the Parent VHDs tab, that resides on the Hyper-V host and select HyperCache Report you will see a report similar to the one below.this provides details of the Parent VHD as well as showing you how effective HyperCache is performing. The sample 16 Dell Demo Center https://demos.dell.com Dell Inc., 2016

screenshot below shows me that 59.9% of the VDI image is being serverd out of HyperCache and not off the local disk, this equates to a large reduction in Read IO on the disk of this host. Disk IO can be a bottle neck with VDI deployments, HyperCache was developed to reduce Read IO and make VDI a more viable option by providing the ability to utilise local disk. Demo: Here we will look at the HyperCache report for one of the Hyper-V hosts: 1) Under Locations, click DELL DEMO CENTER > Virtualization Hosts > Hyper-V. 2) Highlight VW2012HV1.DEMO.LOCAL, click on Parent VHDs and highlight a template that is not showing 0 in the VM Count field. 3) Click HyperCache Report or right click and select HyperCache Report. This will show you the efficenecy of the Virtual Machine Template. The higher the HyperCache Effectiveness field then the higher the number of Read IO is being served out of HyperCache (RAM) and not off the disk. 17 Dell Demo Center https://demos.dell.com Dell Inc., 2016

9 Targets Targeting is the method for assigning resources to a user, for example, assigning a virtual desktop. Aside from assignment using AD Name, AD Group, Device Name, Device Subnet and OU you also have the ability to create your own rules. For example, provide access to Application X is the user belongs to AD Group Y and is connecting from Subnet x.x.x.x. This provides great flexibility and security when users are accessing the environment both locally or remotely. Demo: Here we will add your test user to the vworkspace database: 1) The AD User Accounts are detailed in the AppPortal Connector section, select an AD user to use throughout this test\demo. 2) Under the Targets node select Users and click on the green plus sign to add a user. 3) Under the domain field select DEMO, the box below will then be populated with AD users. 4) Select the demouser user you logged on as and click OK. 5) Your user now has access to the Farm and any resources you assign to them. 18 Dell Demo Center https://demos.dell.com Dell Inc., 2016

10 User Environment Management vworkspace provide central management for user resources such as application restrictions on TS\RDSH, connection policies, colour schemes, wallpaper, logon scripts and much more. The targeting methodology mentioned above can be applied to all these resources, meaning you could control the situation in which application restrictions or logon script where applied. Demo: Here we will look a simple UEM assignment: 1) Here you can test assigning a couple of resources to your user. 2) Ensure that you don t have a VDI session running. 3) You can either assign a specific wallpaper or drive mapping. 4) Select the resource you would like to assign, and click the + simply in the right hand of the screen, you will then be prompted for a user to assign it to, select your VDIUser account from the list and select OK. 5) Launch a Windows 7 virtual desktop and check the wallpaper and\or drive mapping. 10.1 User Profile Management vworkspace offers an alternative to roaming profiles. Using vworkspace User Profiles accelerates logon times and eliminates profile corruption that is often associated with roaming profiles. User Profiles combines the persistence of a conventional roaming profile with the speed and robustness of a mandatory profile. Administrators also have the ability to provide profile silos, meaning sections of the profile are only applied when a criteria is met, for example, logon to a specific Operating System. Demo: Nothing planned here. 19 Dell Demo Center https://demos.dell.com Dell Inc., 2016

11 App-V Integration App-V integration allows you to import and assign applications to users from a Microsoft App-V server. Microsoft App-V provides the capability for applications to be available to computers without the need to install them directly in those computers. Tasks such as managing multiple versions of an application are simplified. Demo: Currently no App-V Demo. 20 Dell Demo Center https://demos.dell.com Dell Inc., 2016

12 Web Portal vworkspace offers the ability to create a web portal utilizing lis. VWorkspace Web Access is an ASP.NET application that installs a virtual directory within a lis default web site. A single Web Access server can host multiple sites, meaning you can create and customize different portals for different users. 21 Dell Demo Center https://demos.dell.com Dell Inc., 2016

Demo: Here we will look at the Web Portal: 1) Open a web browser on your end point that has network access to the DSC 2) Navigate to http://qvwbroker/demo and logon using the credentials listed in the AppPortal Connector section later in this guide 3) Once logged on, if you have installed the AppPortal Connector you will be able to launch Applications or Desktops 22 Dell Demo Center https://demos.dell.com Dell Inc., 2016

13 Foglight Foglight for Virtual Desktops (F4VD) brings powerful diagnostics, rich visualization and reporting to vworkspace. F4VD monitors VDI and TS\RDSH implementations providing IT with the real-time and historical data needed to keep these deployments running at peak performance. F4VD goes beyond alerting you of problems, it also provides diagnostics and analytics so you can identify and resolve VDI and TS\RDSH issues before they impact users. Demo: Here we will look at Foglight: 1) Click on the Foglight for Virtual Desktops node and you will be logged onto the Foglight server automatically. 2) Explore Foglight yourself to see what resources are being used by hosts and users. 3) Click on View the health of my virtual desktop environment to start. 23 Dell Demo Center https://demos.dell.com Dell Inc., 2016
