Filter The whole world of filters for creative photography. Made in Germany

Filter The passion for optics, with precision, quality and longevity. High-tech made in Germany since 1947. Top performance thanks to Multi Resistant Coating (MRC) On an uncoated filter or a filter with single coating (E) the water drop remains flat. There is no dirt- or water-repellent effect. E On a filter coated with hydrophobic material (MRC) the water drop is noticeably flatter. It beads off the surface. MRC There is a dirt- and water-repellent effect. On a filter coated with super-hydrophobic material () a water drop remains practically spherical. It rolls off the surface. There is an outstanding dirt- and water-repellent effect. 2 3

Mount Types: Premium and Professional Line It is the high-grade mounts that finally make a filter a true piece of high-tech that you can rely on for many years to come. Premium Line XS-Pro Digital Extra narrow, ideal for wide-angle lenses Front thread for additional filters or accessories Exclusive for the highest demands New generation with efficient anti-friction properties, for effortless screwing in and out Professional Line F-Pro and special mounts Large selection of diameters and filter types Optionally coated with E or MRC Suitable for wide-angle Combinable Thickness comparison: left: standard mount F-Pro, right: XS-Pro Digital 4 5

Protection Filters The guardian angels against dirt Protection Filter Clear Pure front lens protection with no filter effect Keeps dirt, sand and water splashes away from the front lens With MRC or coating Protection Filter UV Blocks the troublesome UV components Clearer shots in pure sea air and in the high mountains Available with E and MRC; XS-Pro with coating F-Pro 007 Clear + 010 UV XS-Pro 007 Clear + 010 UV 6 7

Polarizing Filters reflection reduction par excellence. Polarizing filters augment the purity of true colors and increase color saturation. Another beneficial effect is the reduction of reflections on non-metallic surfaces. Käsemann, High Transmission Polarizing Filter High-end polarizer for the most exacting demands Selected pieces of polarizing foil Additionally ground and finely polished for outstanding sharpness Suitable for apochromatically corrected lenses Polarizing film with high light transmittance Available with MRC coating; XS-Pro with Circular Polarizing Filter High-quality polarizing filter for rich colors and sharp contrasts Excellent all-rounder for almost all types of cameras Reduction of annoying reflections Available with E or MRC coating XS-Pro HTC High Transmission Circular polarizing filter Käsemann F-Pro HTC High Transmission Circular polarizing filter Käsemann MRC F-Pro S03 Circular polarizing filter E MRC 8 9

Neutral Density (ND) Filters Creative by using less light ND filters or neutral density (ND) filters are used if too much light restricts creative possibilities. They reduce the light in accordance with their density. They therefore allow longer exposure times or more widely opened apertures. Application examples Soft flowing effect for moving water Continuous light trails, wipe effects Deserted places with long time exposure Reducing the depth of field Practical tips Flowing effects will work from a shutter speed of ¼ s. The longer the exposure time, the greater the effect (ND 106/110) Experiment with different exposure times Manual exposure setting is recommended Low ISO setting, small aperture size Always use a tripod Filter type Density F-stops Filter factor 101 - ND 0.3 +1 2 x 102 802 ND 0.6 +2 4 x 103 803 ND 0.9 + 3 8 x 106 806 ND 1.8 + 6 64 x 110 810 ND 3.0 + 10 1.000 x F-Pro 101 ND filter F-Pro 102 ND filter F-Pro 103 ND filter F-Pro 106 ND filter F-Pro 110 ND filter E MRC E MRC E MRC E MRC E MRC 10 11

ND Filters The latest generation Filter ND Vario Flexible light control without changing filters ND filter XS-Pro 802, 803, 806 and 810 Fine-ground and polished special glass for superior image quality Innovative combination coating (on both sides) Uniform light reduction throughout the visible spectrum for optimal color-neutral images MC anti-reflection layer (7 per side) Final dirt- and water-repellent nano protection layer Easy to clean Exclusively for narrow XS-Pro filter holder with coating Infinitely adjustable density (+1 up to +5 f-stops) Ideal for video and film With stops for flawless images No color shift or cross shadows With coating Practical Tips Applications as with a fixed-density ND filter More freedom when making videos with DSLR or system cameras thanks to selectable depth of field Can be combined with other ND filters With longer exposure times, use a tripod XS Pro 802 ND 0.6 XS Pro 803 ND 0.9 XS-Pro Digital ND Vario XS Pro 806 ND 1.8 XS Pro 810 ND 3.0 ND Vario values F-stops Density Filter Factor 1 ND 0.3 2 x 2 ND 0.6 4 x 3 ND 0.9 8 x 4 ND 1.2 16 x 5 ND 1.5 32 x 12 13

ND Filters Balancing the light between sky and earth Graduated filters are colorless and compensate excessive contrasts between the sky and the landscape. Clouds gain definition, sky blue acquires depth. The filters can be rotated in the mount in order to adapt the graduation to the horizon. Practical tips The line of the horizon should be at the centre of the image The density is measured at the darkest area in each situation The rotatable mount enables horizontal orientation F-Pro 701 ND filter MRC F-Pro 702 ND filter MRC 14 15

Infrared Filters Special filters for extreme contrasts Infrared filters block visible light. Creative, experimental black and white images Green leaves and grass appear pale to white Extreme contrast with wood effect Dramatic contrast between blue sky and clouds Practical tips IR effect works only in bright light The focus must be set before attaching the (non-transparent) filter Check the infrared marking on the lens Select lower aperture values Exposure time is determined experimentally based on experience Avoid back light, keep the sun behind you or to the side Note: Test the camera for IR capability with a remote-control unit e.g. for a TV. Hold the activated IR remote-control up to the camera. If a dot of white light appears on the monitor, the camera is IR-capable IR images must be optimized in an image editor Convert color image to black and white Increase the contrasts automatically or in the histogram F-Pro 092 Infrared filter F-Pro 093 Infrared filter 16 17
