AUDIO DISTRIBUTION & NETWORKING

AUDIO DISTRIBUTION & NETWORKING AVIOM S PRO64 SERIES With an unprecedented combination of flexibility, simplicity, and performance, the Pro64 Series from Aviom makes high fidelity audio networking a reality. Powered by the second generation of A-Net, the Pro64 Series provides a robust backbone for a range of audio distribution applications. UNSURPASSED FLEXIBILITY The Pro64 Series combines plug-and-play simplicity with true network-style flexibility, while meeting the most demanding specifications for audio fidelity and clock integrity. With a host of features that includes remote controllable mic preamps, digital I/O, seamless fiber optic connectivity, and variable sample rates as high as 192kHz±, the Pro64 Series offers reliable, scalable connectivity without complicated computer programming. With the press of a single button, a Pro64 network can be configured to run as a bidirectional system supporting up to 64x64 channels or as a 64-channel network with no directional limitations on audio signal flow, regardless of the number of serial or parallel connections in the network, and regardless of the physical placement of inputs and outputs. With the Pro64 Series, I/O modules can be placed wherever the application requires; signal flow is not restricted by the limitations inherent in Ethernet-based technologies. 2

THE MOST ADVANCED AUDIO NETWORK Aviom s Pro64 products are connected by the Pro64 version of A -Net, Aviom s groundbreaking digital audio networking technology, designed specifically for the unique demands of distributing high fidelity audio. Because A-Net was built from the ground up specifically for transporting audio, it isn t limited by the constraints of Ethernet. Pro64 A-Net has been optimized to deliver better performance than any Ethernet-based system, without imposing constraints on connection topology or clocking. PRO64 Pristine digital clocking throughout the network SUPERIOR CLOCKING FOR SUPERIOR SOUND Clock integrity is one of the most fundamental challenges in networking a digital audio signal. All digital audio devices depend on a clean, jitter-free clock, yet audio networks are inherently prone to clock degradation from device to device. This accumulated jitter can degrade the performance of an audio network, both in the digital domain and ultimately in the analog output of the devices in the system. Pro64 A-Net is unique in its ability to preserve the integrity of the digital clock and minimize jitter and wander, even as the audio signal is passed through a long chain of serial network connections. Because clock jitter and wander are managed at the system level, Pro64 A-Net guarantees pristine audio transmission, without the use of dataaltering sample rate converters, regardless of the size or layout of the digital audio network. Bidirectional at all times Up to 64x64 channels Sub-millisecond latency, from analog in to analog out 400ft/120m Cat-5e cable runs Seamless fiber connectivity No sample rate converters APPLICATIONS Aviom s products can be combined to build systems for a wide range of applications. From digital snakes and tie lines, to mixing, conferencing, and source selection systems, Aviom solutions deliver simplicity and reliability combined with the flexibility of digital distribution. SERIES PRO64 AUDIO NETWORKING: A CLOSER LOOK Because Pro64 I/O modules, console cards, and network devices can be connected in any order and in any combination, building most systems is as simple as selecting the specific input and output modules required for the application, and connecting them in the most convenient manner. Pro64 systems can use any combination of serial (daisy-chain) or parallel (star) connections; parallel connections require the MH10 or Merger Hub. SLOTS & CHANNEL ACTIVATION Because the entire network stream passes through every Pro64 device, each I/O module can be set to operate within a specified channel range in the network. This is accomplished with the A-Net Slot function, which assigns a bank for a given device to utilize. One of the most powerful features of Pro64 I/O modules is the individual channel activation switches. While the entire network stream is available to every I/O device, only the channels you want to use need to be activated. This allows system designers and operators to make more efficient use of network bandwidth. Both A-Net Slot selection and channel activation are simple front panel operations which can be modified at any time with a simple press of a button. No complex programming is required at any time, even if the application s needs change from day to day. PARALLEL CONNECTIONS & FIBER For systems that need the flexibility and security of parallel connections, the MH10 and provide ten bidirectional A-Net ports. These ports can be used in any combination to connect multiple split locations or to run backup cables. The has eight RJ45 ports and two SFP slots for 100Mbps fiber optic transceivers. These slots can be populated with single- or multi-mode transceivers, according to the needs of a particular application. Regardless of the number of MH10 or Merger Hubs in a system, the network remains fully bidirectional at all times. Ports 9 and 10 of the can accept SFP fiber optic transceivers. CREATING A SPLIT Once an input is active on the Pro64 network, it can be output in any format analog, AES3 digital, or directly into a Yamaha digital device as many times as needed. High fidelity lossless splits are as easy to create as connecting a cable to any open network port; no expensive transformer splitters or complicated computer programming is ever required. And because Pro64 A-Net manages the digital clock so effectively, daisy chain and parallel connections can be combined without limit. 4

NETWORK MODES In Mode, the Pro64 system is a 64-channel network with no directional limitations on signal flow. Once an audio signal is activated into the network stream, that signal is automatically distributed to every other device, regardless of the physical locations of I/O modules or the network s topology. Signal distribution has never been more straightforward. In Mode, the network runs as a 64x64 bidirectional system. Individual audio channel inputs can be assigned to either network stream. Ideally suited for larger systems with clear directional requirements, such as a stage-to-foh digital snake, Mode offers additional routing flexibility and higher total channel count while maintaining the simplicity of front-panel setup. VIRTUAL DATA CABLES The Pro64 network also provides dedicated bandwidth for transmitting up to 14 channels of user control data with no impact on audio performance at any time. Use the VDCs to move GPIO, MIDI,, or RS-422 control data simultaneously to and from any I/O module in the network. ADDING PRO16 MIXERS Pro64 Network I/O When your application requires the power of Pro64 networking and the control of Pro16 Personal Mixers, add the ASI A-Net Systems Interface to your network. The ASI breaks the Pro64 network stream into 16-channel blocks compatible with Pro16 Series Personal Mixers, output modules, and network devices. In most systems, the Pro16 A-Net outputs of the ASI will be connected directly to one or more A-Net Distributors, which will be used to provide audio to multiple A-16II and A-16R Personal Mixers in parallel.
