4 Symantec Endpoint Protection Integration Component 7.1 SP1 Release Notes What's new in SEPIC 7.1 SP1 (dashboards), bandwidth throttling, and advanced discovery. This free component can scale for both local and remote endpoints. The Symantec Endpoint Integration Component combines Symantec Endpoint Protection with your other Symantec Management Platform Solutions. You can Inventory computers, update patches, deliver software, and deploy new computers. You can also back up and restore your systems and data, manage DLP agents, manage Symantec Endpoint Protection clients. You can do this work from a single, Web-based Symantec Management Console. What's new in SEPIC 7.1 SP1 In the 7.1 SP1 release of SEPIC, the following feature is introduced: Table 1-1 Feature New feature in Symantec Endpoint Integration Component Description Symantec Management Platform 7.1 SP1 support The SEPIC 7.1 SP1 release supports Symantec Management Platform 7.1 SP1 on Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 64-bit operating system. General installation and upgrade You install Symantec Endpoint Protection Integration Component by using the Symantec Installation Manager (SIM). You can download the installation files directly to your server or you can create offline installation packages. For more information, see the IT Management Suite Implementation Guide at http://www.symantec.com/docs/doc3464. This release supports automatic upgrade from SEPIC 7.1 to SEPIC 7.1 SP1. You can upgrade to SEPIC 7.1 SP1 through SIM. The previous installed version of SEPIC 7.1 is automatically removed to install SEPIC 7.1 SP1. During upgrade, the items and packages that are created in SEPIC 7.1 remain unchanged for SEPIC 7.1 SP1. To upgrade from SEPIC 7.1 to SEPIC 7.1 SP1 1 Open the Symantec Installation Manager (SIM). 2 In the Installed Products panel, click View and install updates. 3 In the Product Updates panel, select the product to update. To migrate from SEPIC 7.0 to SEPIC 7.1 SP1, you must first migrate manually to SEPIC 7.1 and then automatically upgrade to SEPIC 7.1 SP1.

Symantec Endpoint Protection Integration Component 7.1 SP1 Release Notes Known issues 7 Table 1-2 Issue Known Issues of SEPIC 7.1 SP1 (continued) Description Support of McAfee 2011 v10.5.227 in JP/CS/CH/KN languages SEPIC task issues with SEP 12.1 SEPIC does not support McAfee 2011 in the following languages: Chinese Simplified Japanese Korean Chinese Traditional SEPIC scan tasks such as full scan, quick scan, and update antivirus definition, fail on SEP 12.1 if run under the Symantec Management Agent (SMA) credentials. A workaround for this issue is to run scan/update task under the Current Logged-on User account option. To run scan/update task under Logged-on user account, do the following: Open SEPIC scan/update task and make a clone of the task by selecting Clone from the context menu. Click Advanced. In the new dialog box, underscripttab, check Current Logged-on User option. Click OK. and then click SaveChanges on scan/update task. Execute scan task on the client computer. Note: Scan/Update task fails on Windows 7 client computer on which SEP 12.1.601.4699 agent is installed. SEPIC repair task execution The SEPIC repair task is not executed with the supported SEP versions.
