Chapter 1 Understanding xcelerated Composition Platform This chapter describes xcelerated Composition Platform (xcp) Developer Edition and includes these topics: xcp Developer Edition components, page 7 Environment and system requirements, page 9 xcp Developer Edition is an integrated platform that is comprised of a family of products that provides a solution for case management application evaluation and development workstations. It combines Content Server, a relational database management system, a full-text indexing system, and complete case management applications in a single package. It includes the core technology, content-related services, and the developer resources to build content-rich applications. Installing xcp Developer Edition deploys all components, configures a content repository, and installs the Grants Management sample application. The Grants Management sample application demonstrates how the xcp products can be used to build a case management application. The EMC Documentum xcelerated Composition Platform Grants Management Sample Application Technical Reference Guide provides details about the sample application. xcp Developer Edition components An xcp Developer Edition installation consists of a complete stack of EMC Documentum products. The installation includes the Documentum content management platform and the interrelated components for case management. The xcp Developer Edition installation program installs all products. The Documentum platform products and components included with the installer are: A content repository that stores the content Content Server, which manages the content repository and provides content management capabilities A connection broker, which provides repository connection information to client applications A JBoss application server, which Content Server uses to run administration jobs and to host Documentum Administrator and other web applications, including custom-built applications EMC Documentum xcelerated Composition Platform Version 6.5 SP2 Installation Guide 7

Chapter 2 This chapter describes how to install xcp Developer Edition. It consists of these major sections: Database and repository, page 11 Preparing the host machine, page 11 Installing xcp Developer Edition, page 13 Configuring the Grants Management sample application, page 16 Starting xcp Developer Edition, page 21 Database and repository Content Server uses a relational database to store metadata about the content in the repository. By default, xcp Developer Edition creates the database as part of the installation process. xcp Developer Edition uses a database server instance name of DOCUMENTUMDB and a repository name of documentum. Preparing the host machine Before you install xcp Developer Edition, ensure that the host machine meets the hardware and software requirements detailed in Environment and system requirements, page 9. The host on which you install xcp Developer Edition must not have any existing EMC Documentum products installed on it. The host name must use only ASCII characters. The host machine must meet the following system requirements: No Microsoft SQL Server or SQL Server Express installed No other Documentum software installed Microsoft.NET 2.0 or higher Web Browser with Sun JRE 5.0, Update 16, or higher RAM: A minimum of 4 GB Free disk space: 5 GB EMC Documentum xcelerated Composition Platform Version 6.5 SP2 Installation Guide 11

Processor: Intel x86 Operating system: Microsoft Windows XP SP3 Windows Server 2003 R2 with SP2 Windows Server 2003 SP2 You must be logged in as a member of the Microsoft Windows Administrators group but not necessarily as Administrator. Ports The database server, application server, and connection broker installed with xcp Developer Edition use ports on the host machine. xcp Developer Edition installs a database server and uses port 1433 for TCP/IP connections. The port for the embedded application server is 9080. The application server requires a block of 20 consecutive open ports starting at this number. The connection broker port is 1489. The connection broker also uses the next port number, so ensure that the next port number (1490) is also open. Documentum directories The xcp Developer Edition installation program installs files into two directories, referred to as the program directory and the user directory. The program directory is the directory where Documentum products are installed. The typical location is C:\Program Files\Documentum. The user directory is the directory where Documentum data is stored. The typical location is C:\Documentum. The user directory must not have any spaces in the path. Identify these two directories when you run the xcp Developer Edition installation program. If the directories do not exist, the installation program creates them. Passwords During the installation, enter your Windows password. After you complete the installation, you can set up additional DFC client applications that use this repository as a global registry. The password that database administrators, repository owners, and global registry users use for access is documentum-1. If your system enforces custom password complexity rules, you must choose to specify custom options during the installation. After selecting custom options, enter appropriate passwords that 12 EMC Documentum xcelerated Composition Platform Version 6.5 SP2 Installation Guide

satisfy your password policy in the Database Administrator Password and Repository Owner Password fields. If your system enforces custom password complexity rules, and you did not choose to specify custom options during the installation, you must disable the password complexity policy in Windows. To disable the Windows password complexity policy: 1. Navigate to Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Local Security Policy. The Local Security Settings dialog box appears. 2. Navigate to Security Settings > Account Policies > Password Policy. 3. Right-click Password must meet complexity requirements and select Properties. 4. In the Local Security Setting dialog box, select Disabled and then click OK. Installing xcp Developer Edition Run the documentumsetup.exe installation program to install xcp Developer Edition. The installation program creates the repository and installs all Documentum components. Note: For optimal performance during installation, turn off any virus checking on the host machine. To install xcp Developer Edition: 1. Log in to the host system using your Microsoft Windows login. Note: Windows user accounts are not case sensitive. However, if you connect to the host by using the incorrect case in the username, the xcp Developer Edition installation fails. For example, if the account is set up as JPSmith and you connect as jpsmith, you can log in to the host, but installation fails. 2. Download the xcp Developer Edition software. You can find the location of the software and instructions for downloading it in the email you received regarding the EMC download site. 3. Unzip the distribution file. Uncompress the distribution file in any directory whose name does not contain spaces in the path. The installation files are uncompressed to that directory and to two subdirectories: dbserver and installconfig. 4. Double-click documentumsetup.exe to run the installation program from the directory into which you expanded the files. The installation program begins and a dialog box appears that lists all system requirements. a. Ensure that your system meets all requirements listed and then click Next. The software license agreement appears. EMC Documentum xcelerated Composition Platform Version 6.5 SP2 Installation Guide 13

b. Read the license agreement and do one of the following: To continue with the installation, click I accept the terms of the license agreement and click then Next. If you do not accept the license agreement terms, the Next button is unavailable and you cannot continue with the installation. c. Indicate the directories for Documentum software: You can accept the default directory for Content Server and data (C:\Documentum) or click Browse to select a different installation directory. The name of the directory in which Content Server is installed must contain only ASCII characters and must not include spaces. Do not use any of these characters in pathnames:! \ / : *? " < >. You can accept the default directory for shared Documentum programs (C:\Program Files\Documentum) or click Browse to select a different directory. Click Next. d. Type your Windows password and then click Next. e. Select to use the preconfigured database and select to specify custom options: For faster installation, select Yes, install a preconfigured Microsoft SQL Server Express database for me. For custom options, No is selected by default. If you select Yes, click Next to provide the application server port number and passwords for the database administrator, global registry, and repository owner. Note: The installer does not validate the password complexity. If your system enforces custom password complexity rules, you must enter appropriate passwords in the Database Administrator Password and Repository Owner Password fields. Click Next to launch the installation process, which takes several minutes. f. When a dialog appears to indicate the successful installation of xcp Developer Edition, click Finish. This launches the xcp Developer Edition welcome page that provides information on how to launch its component applications. To access the welcome page any time after the installation, navigate to Start > All Programs > Documentum > Welcome. If a problem occurs during installation, you can reinstall xcp Developer Edition. To reinstall xcp Developer Edition: 1. Diagnose and fix the problem that caused the failure. 2. Follow the steps in Chapter 3, Uninstalling xcp Developer Edition to uninstall the software and restart your system. 3. Follow the steps in Installing xcp Developer Edition, page 13 to reinstall the software. 14 EMC Documentum xcelerated Composition Platform Version 6.5 SP2 Installation Guide

Reviewing the installation logs The installation program creates log files in the installer directory. You can review the following logs to verify that installation was successful: setuperror.log (Installation errors). If the installation was successful, the system does not create this log. install.log (Main installation log) install_owner.serverinstaller.log (Content Server installation log) Deploying web applications after the installation After the xcp Developer Edition installation completes, the JBoss method server automatically deploys all the web applications. The process of deploying the web applications can take several minutes. Check the server.log in C:\Documentum\jboss4.2.0\server\DctmServer_MethodServer\log directory. If the size of the log file is around 7 KB and does not grow, the web applications could not be deployed properly. To resolve this problem, shut down the Java method server (JMS) and delete the contents of the tmp and work directories. To start, stop, and restart the JMS: 1. From Windows, navigate to Start > Administrator Tools > Services. In the Services dialog, the JMS is called Documentum Java Method Server. 2. Start, stop, and restart the JMS by right-clicking on Documentum Java Method Server in the Services dialog and selecting the appropriate menu item from the context menu. 3. Verify that the Java process has stopped by doing the following: a. Click Ctrl+Alt+Del to open the Windows Task Manager. b. Click the Processes tab and sort by Process Name. c. Look for processes named Java.exe. The Java method server is a Java.exe process that is using at least 500,000K of memory. d. If the Java.exe process has not stopped, do one of the following: To stop the method server gracefully, use the stopmethodserver.cmd, which is located at C:\Documentum\jboss4.2.0\server\. To manually stop the process, select it in the Windows Task Manager and click End Process. e. Click OK when the system informs you that this can cause instability in the system. To delete the tmp and work directories: 1. Shut down the JMS and ensure that it has stopped. To start, stop, and restart the JMS:, page 15 provides instructions to stop the JMS. 2. Open Windows Explorer and navigate to C:\Documentum\jboss4.2.0\server\DctmServer_ MethodServer. EMC Documentum xcelerated Composition Platform Version 6.5 SP2 Installation Guide 15

3. Delete the contents of the tmp and work folders. xcp Developer Edition Installer does not configure the resource agent properly The xcp Developer Edition Installer is designed to configure the ACS web application s jmx.properties file to use acsadmin as the user name and documentum-1 as the password, and to register a resource agent with the global registry using that same information. Instead, it is configuring the jmx.properties file with a blank user name and registering a resource agent with this incorrect information. Workaround: To configure the resource agent manually, follow the steps below: To configure the resource agent: 1. Stop the Documentum Master Service Windows service. 2. Edit %DOCUMENTUM%\jboss4.2.0\server\DctmServer_MethodServer\deploy\acs.ear\APP- INF\classes\jmx.properties by changing: user. =KmYwfPemMrpphRf5Lwazxg==,Administrators to user.acsadmin=kmywfpemmrpphrf5lwazxg==,administrators 3. Start the Documentum Master Service Windows service. 4. Wait a few minutes to give JBoss time to start. 5. Log in to Documentum Administrator and navigate to Administration > Resource Management > Resource Agents. 6. Right-click the existing resource agent and select View Resources on Agent. The Resource Agent Authentication dialog box appears. 7. Correct the hostname portion of the JMX Service URL by replacing OEM_winsql with the name or IP address of the computer on which xcp is installed. 8. Change the Username to acsadmin and the Password to documentum-1. 9. Click OK. Configuring the Grants Management sample application The following sections describe additional configurations you must make before using the Grants Management sample application. 16 EMC Documentum xcelerated Composition Platform Version 6.5 SP2 Installation Guide

Creating a base FTP folder To use FTP to submit the grant request application, create the base FTP folder on the inbound application server machine. This folder should be: C:/applicantfolder/application This location is already configured in the Receive Application via FTP activity template in the Create Grant Request process template. To change it to another path, update the path in the Receive Application via FTP activity template. Creating email accounts To create and configure the email accounts for the Grants Management sample application, follow these steps: 1. Create email inboxes. 2. Edit email process parameters. 3. Change email listener poller frequency. Creating email inboxes Configure three inboxes in your email server for the following users: newapps, which receives the incoming applications updateapp, which receives the required documents from the applicant grantnotification, which sends automatic notification email messages to the applicant For both newapps and updateapp accounts, create the passwords to be identical to the user inbox name. The username and password combination for the incoming applications must be newapps/newapps and for the incoming required documents it must be updateapp/updateapp. The grantnotification account does not require an identical password. The Process Builder process templates are preconfigured to use the localhost for these addresses. If you are not using a local email server, change the host name of the email server in all Email activity templates. If your email host is not located on machine where the Documentum Content Server is running, change the Host Name in the following activities from localhost to the host name of the email server.
