For example, many people want to use a NXT from LEGO with standard servos and analog distance sensor from Sharp. Now its possible! To program the Dual-POB, the user has not to be an expert. Of course a C langage is available, but a very simple graphical user interface named RISBEE is available. Applications
The Dual-POB can be used with different settings, depending on your technical skills and on your robotics needs: Autonomous mod: The Dual-POB is based on an ATMega 128 Microcontroller. Totally autonomous, the Dual-POB has itself all the needed features to build a full and powerfull robot. It is programmable in C and RISBEE. The Dual-POB can be connected to the intelligent color camera POB-Eye And manage the POB-Eye as a pattern recognition device. Dual-POB Slave mod of the POB-Eye: The Dual-POB can be use as a super I/O controller for the programmable color camera POB- Eye. Slave mod of the NXT LEGO Mindstorm: The Dual-POB owns a NXT connector. POB provides the Mindstorm blocks to use all the I/O possibilities of the Dual-POB with the NXT. You program with the LEGO environment. Bioloid servomotors control: The Dynamixel servomotor connector allows up to 255 Robotis Servomotors managed by the Dual-POB. Program your Bioloid servomotors with RISBEE for starters or in C for advanced users. You get all the I/O capabilities of the Dual-POB on the Bioloid. USB Slave mod: A firmware allows the Dual-POB to receive orders via the USB or Bluetooth bus. Thus, the Dual-POB has a FTDI chip and can be a super I/O controller for any desktop or embedded system which has a USB port. It can work with any operating system. Mixed mod: As the Dual-POB, the POB-Eye and the NXT are all programmable, it is possible to mix the different use mods for specific advanced applications. Software RISBEE is the new graphical software of POB to program the POB-robots with no knowledge of a programming language. Easy to handle, intuitive, fast and full, RISBEE is a very motivating tool for students. See the presentation of RISBEE AVR Studio The Dual-POB is also programmable in C with the AVR Studio and the GNU compiler for Windows environment. POB as developed a Bootloader to easily transfer your compiled program via the USB or Bluetooth bus. Thus the user don t have to manage any material programmation like JTAG. Technical features
First side, the ATMega board - ATMega 128 Flash memory: 128KBytes SRam memory: 4KBytes EEprom memory: 4KBytes Frequency : 16Mhz Power supply: 6V to 10V. Courant max : 1,5A Dimensions : 89 x 76 mm - 8 analog imputs, 14 digital I/O: They are on a 26 pin connector for ribbon cable. The power tension of the I/O is 5V, the digital output cunsumption must not exceed 20mA per pin. - 255 Dynamixel Robotis Servomotors: The Dual-POB allows to communicate usiong the serial bus od Robotis at 1Mb/s. This bus is made of Data, GND and +Power. It is recommanded to use a power equal to 9.6v that can go up to 2A. The power supply of the Dual-POB and the Robotis Bus is the same. - NXT Connector: The NXT connector is connected to I2C bus of the Dual-POB. It must be set as slave mod. - USB: For USB communication, POB did chose a FTDI ship. Many drivers are available for many operating systems. The Dua-POB can communicate with: Windows Vista x64, XP x64, Server 2003 x64, Vista, XP, Server 2003, 2000, ME, 98, Linux, Mac OS X, Mac, Mac OS 9, Mac OS 8, Windows CE.NET (Version 4.2 and greater) This ship FTDI works like a Serial/USB adapter, so the user only sees a serial port.
- Bluetooth: The industrail Bletooth module (optional) is a Serial/bluetooth adapter. It can work up to 115200baud/s. Second side, the PIC board - 18 standards servomotors: To get the best torque, the power supply of the servomotors is 6V. - PWM, 1 double H bridge: This double H Bridge allows to manage 2 DC motors. It provides a tension of 6V that can be modulated with the PWM. You can use a different power supply for the H bridge, a switch is to select if you use the default tension or your own tension.
