SOLUTIONSPORTFOLIO RESHAPING SIM BUSINESS

The telecom industries are experiencing radical changes in many countries dealing with confl icts, instability and threats from terrorism. Governments are pushing regulators and mobile operators for the necessity of mobile subscriber registration, as a tool to support law enforcement efforts. As a consequence, it has become critical for mobile operators to implement efficient registration systems and adhere to strict regulations relative to SIM distribution. The traditional paper based enrolment method is no longer adapted to meet these new requirements. Oasis EOS Customer Enrolment is a comprehensive end-to-end solution to electronically manage mobile subscriber registration, identity document management, fi ngerprint collection, on demand SIM provisioning with mobile number selection and other value added services. It uses best-of-breed biometric devices providing ability to scan fi ngerprints and ID documents during SIM registration process. It is a cost efficient and easy deployable solution to equip all dealers with biometric tablets for registration. Eos Customer Enrolment protects customers identity and helps reducing the incidence of untraceable criminal activities. The solution is well-received by operators due to its modularity, scope of features and Oasis proven fl exibility to meet various local requirements. Robustness, reliability, ease of use for the retail outlets even in the most remote locations are among the main benefi ts of this solution.

Operators acknowledge that device heterogeneity and wrong confi gurations is one of the main obstacles for mobile data services. Most consumers claim they are not able to fi gure out how to use mobile data services on their handsets. With the roll out of 4G networks, mobile users are dealing with more complex devices, with different OS versions, confl icting installed applications, frequent device changes and multiple personal data to be saved and restored. As users change devices more frequently, new devices must be detected, identifi ed, patched and service settings restored automatically. MNOs need to be able to proactively confi gure or update a device ( proactive maintenance ) following certain events: when a new fi rmware version is available, a network element has an updated confi guration, an end-user subscribes to a new option, a new application is available on the network. These events should be transparent for users who should be able to access data services immediately. MNOs need to be able to quickly answer all questions or problems encountered by users with their device ( reactive maintenance ). When a call is received on customer care, agents should be able to quickly determine what device is used, if it was confi g- ured and properly updated what can be done to solve the user problem. They should be able to diagnose problems remotely on the device. Incorrect device confi guration generates a load on call center to carry out trouble shooting. EOS Device Management enables device detection, identifi cation and confi guration of mobile devices over-theair.the remote confi guration of device settings is seamless for the end-user and the solution enables remote trouble shooting of devices parameters. It is compliant with OMA (Open Mobile Alliance) standards. The device repository service includes worldwide handsets manufacturers and is set to add, delete and change handsets setting parameters. The service can be hosted and operated by Oasis in a Managed Services mode (pay as you use). Ensure proper mobile device confi - guration to offer full benefi ts of data services to end-users. Improve customer experience. Reduce load on Call Center Increase customer loyalty.

Generally, the mobile subscription is provisioned in the network well before the SIM card reaches a dealer or retail outlet so that new prepaid subscription works immediately once it is sold. This SIM pre-provisioning process locks unused number resources (IMSI, MSISDN) and network resources which generates unecessary license costs for HLR, BSS, OSS systems, as well as waste of numbering resources. The MNO/MVNE numbering plan is generally organized geographically which makes forecasting and SIM card distribution a difficult task. With IoT adding millions of additional connected devices, the need for a strategy to optimize number resource management is crucial. Oasis EOS Number Management is a solution for MNOs to optimize the use of IMSI/MSISDN resources and reduce the number of inactive subscriptions on the network. Inactive subscribers are stored into a temporary database, and are provisioned on the HLR only when they access to the network for the fi rst time (just-in-time provisioning). The high level provisioning fl ow is the following: When a new SIM card accesses the network for the fi rst time, the authentication request is routed to EOS Number Management solution server. The solution server handles this fi rst authentication and generates a real-time provisioning to the HLR. The solution server sends a reconfi guration command to the SIM card to access the operator s network. The SIM card restarts an authentication with a new IMSI to the HLR, and completes this fi rst authentication. Subsequent authentication requests are directly handled by the HLR as the SIM has already been provisioned. EOS Number Management solution is based on a server installed in the MNO s premise and connected to the SS7 network, and an application installed on the SIM card for handling the reconfi guration process. The business model is based on direct and indirect cost savings relative to inactive SIMs and network resources. A typical return on investment is in the range of 6 months depending on volumes. Just-in-time provisioning reduces BSS, OSS and HLR license costs. Only active IMSIs are provisioned in the HLR, optimizing usage rate of HLR positions. There is also savings in inventory costs and logistics as the supply chain is optimized. Operator can up-sell and crosssell during initial connection, such as golden numbers or other value added services which can be pushed a based on subscriber location, device model, or other information collected.

The customer experience with IoT connected devices needs to be as simple as possible. A customer will typically purchase the device and once received, the device should be activated along with the user s account through a simple process to activate any associated cellular connectivity and price plans. This simplicity of the customer experience for fi rst time set-up and activation of the connected device is key to the success of the service. There are multiple use cases for device activation, but global connectivity is always a key component to provide a seamless user experience. Oasis EOS Global Connectivity provides a solution for bootstrap connectivity and global roaming: Devices with EOS Global Connectivity SIM cards will connect across roaming networks, through an international transmission network that provides connectivity through Oasis partner s core network and out to the Internet over secure HTTPs. All new devices are activated and connected to a partner network thanks to Oasis initial bootstrap embedded connectivity. There is a choice of local or global operator connectivity. The solution provides seamless roaming and subscription adapted to geographical location. Seamless connectivity for devices in all countries. Optimum customer experience from a network selection perspective. Ability for Service Providers to provide a single price for their service across a global footprint.

MNOs have a heterogeneous fl eet of SIM cards that need to be updated in the fi eld due to change in roaming agreements, introduction of new network elements, and so on. The operators need an administrative tool to remotely manage SIM cards post issuance. Most of the time, operators want to carry out campaigns to update SIM card confi guration and applications by batches, depending on customer segmentation, geographical or other criteria. With the rapid take up of IoT and M2M, there is an increased need for remote and secured interactions with the SIM embedded in the connected devices. EOS OTA Management is a user friendly OTA platform which allows Remote FilManagement (RFM) and Remote Application Management (RAM) of SIM cards via reliable and secured channel. The solution supports multiple bearers: SMS, BIP CAT TP, HTTP and HTTPS download. It is compliant with 3GPP standard 03.48 Supports for 2G, 3G, 4G LTE. It provides capability for over-theair update of SIM fi les information such as GSM application features (IMSI swap, preferred PLMN, SIM service table update and so on.), telecom service features (SIM phonebook update, fi xed dialing control, MSISDN update, etc.), USIM application fi les, proprietary application fi les and security features. It is used to download, install, remove, lock and unlock, and get parameters of Java applet overthe-air. Remote interaction with the SIM via campaign or individual IMSI. Reporting and monitoring Interoperability with third party s SIM cards. Full OTA features: fi les and applets life cycle management (RFM + RAM), multiple triggers for unit update or campaign management, HTTP and HTTPS download available. Industrial proof: scalable architecture, possible upgrade/integration with Oasis EOS Device Management. Available in SaaS mode, or on-site deployment.

Using a single service provider brings limitation as roaming charges are usually costly when you cross frontiers. The Multi-IMSI technology is a solution which avoids expensive roaming charges allowing a single SIM card to be assigned multiple local numbers. EOS Multi-IMSI is Oasis USIM connectivity management solution for IoT and global roaming. It enables switching network by swapping IMSIs depending on business rules defi ned by the Service Provider. The SIM profi le can switch according to different modes of operation: An automatic switch from one IMSI to another based on multi- IMSI application logic. A manual switch available via STK application. A remotely controlled change, delete or update of profi le via OTA. EOS Multi-IMSI is composed of: A multi-imsi application running on Helios OS, Oasis advanced USIM operating system, allowing a manual, automatic, or remotely controlled switch of network. A remote server in the cloud in charge of dynamically updating the multi IMSI application parameters and the business rules to control the behavior of the application. This solution provides an optimized roaming solution and an industrialgrade activation platform for connection of IoT devices. Provides MVNOs with the ability to optimize the use of their IMSIs to benefi t the best usage rates. Offers worldwide cost effective roaming for travelers and IoT devices. Seamless switch of network to adapt the connectivity to the device location.

The use of embedded SIM for M2M and IoT requires over-the-air (OTA) provisioning of an initial operator subscription as well asother subscription profi les to be changed from one operator to another. The remote SIM provisioning process is a vital enabler for M2M and IoTconnections, since they address several business issues: M2M and IoTdevices are remotely located They are often hermetically sealed The manufacturer does not know where the device will be used Their product life cycles varies and can be lengthy In December 2013, the GSMA issued a technical specifi cation that enables remote provisioning and management of embedded SIMs for M2M. GSMA has recently released a common remote SIM provisioning specifi cation for consumer devices, and an additional release is expected for 2016. EOS Subscription Manager is Oasis solution of Remote SIM Provisioning for consumer devices and M2M services. The solution includes below key features: Remotely manage subscriptions for IoT connected objects or consumer devices. Change subscription in a fully secure environment Switch subscription with standardized features Confi gure euicc Store profi les from same or different mobile operator Management of Data Generation process Profi le ordering Preparation of un-personalized profi le Generation of personalization data Preparation of profi le package to be delivered to euicc Profi le download and installation Connecting any device on demand, at anytime, anywhere Simplifi ed / leaner logistics Lower SIM costs Ability to switch connectivity provider depending on change in tariffs, regulation Adapting the subscription to device location.
